My protective plastic is still on my Herbalizer.
(And on the screen of every vape in the house)
I even still have the plastic film on my 4 year old cell phone!

I've been playing with temps, and it's becoming apparent that I'm going to have a hard time picking a favorite. But, I can definitely appreciate the differences. Herbie is awesome!

My wife and her friend (both just occasional tokers) tried it at 375 last night. That was some funny shit to watch. After a long, intense, discussion, they did manage to come up with the names of 6 of the 7 dwarfs. It was kinda like watching the 3 grandmas video. And, they sure dug into the tacos.

just bought a HErbalizer and it makes this loud buzzing noise after 15-20mins of use at 360 degrees and above . contacted Herbalizer and they said it could just be the cooling fan but i think its way to loud to be a cooling fan. anyone else have or had this problem?

That sound is not normal

Sometimes my fan sounds excessively loud where I turn the unit on, but goes away after about a minute.
Are you able to post a video of what the cooling fan should sound like? I just got my herbalizer yesterday and it was making that noise after 20mins of use. Contacted herbalizer hope to hear back soon .

Yeah, it sounds like repair is needed. Mine doesn't buzz at all....not much more noise than just the sound of air movement.

What's up guys and/or gals? I'm having so much fun with the herbalizer and my first good experience with vaping in general. It's amazing how much control I have over how medicated I am. Although I do find myself sticking to the same handful of temperatures: based on the situation I usually use 350 - 375 - 392 - 420 - 445. I get great taste and huge clouds on all these temps.

For the first couple weeks I was mainly using the bags but now that I got my silicone tubing (thanks for the link, Frank Reynolds) I have been exclusively vapor bonging, at every possible opportunity lol :)

I have been putting an aroma pad on top of all of my bowls since I read that in here, I feel like I get less air restriction and darker abv (I used to only get light brown now I get dark brown on high temps) is there a downside I'm missing?

Oh yeah, the silicone I received wasn't as white as the picture looked on amazon, it's a bit more transparent. I just want to make sure I'm not using a lower grade material.

I would send them a link to that video if I were you. Doesn't sound right, I just heard my cooling fan and there is a slight buzz but not nearly as loud as your video. Sorry dude, please update with your customer service experience for us.

That sounds a lot like fan bearings to me. I've had a couple of fans die in various electronics and they are surprisingly loud once the bearing liquid dries up or leaks out.

Sounds like you got the same tubing as me. You have the correct tubing. I find that aroma pad takes away/slightly changes the flavor of the hit, and prefer no pad for the most part.

yea they reached back quick and are looking into it . I've sent them the video nd sound so just waiting to hear back. Deff not normal sound. Way too loud. How long does the cooling fan take to kick in? Because the sound seems to start after 20-30 mins at 390 degrees.

Hello all!

Excited to join in the journey of the Herbie!

Now I was reading through the thread where I saw @Engineer post some Q/A with the members here.

Somethings bothered me, so I sent Engineer a PM, but I wanted to ask the members here how they felt, especially for spending 730$ on a vape.

1- The smell you get when the fan is on at full temp. Is that just dry hot air we smell?
I know a few have commented on this smell.

Engineer said:
>>> (should be) Just hot dry air. The air pathways is what it is claimed, inert. The halogen lamp has a quartz body, and is surrounded by anodized aluminum (a process that essentially converts the surface from aluminum into ceramic). There are two pieces of stainless steel, a small silicone plug and the thermal sensor and a couple dots of high-temp epoxy - all of the components are rated above intended operational temperature.

2. What can you tell us about the air intake? I know @@Vapodudulehad raised some concerns regarding this. Perhaps he could chime in.

Engineer said:
There isn't anything to worry about there. Air passes through a fan, then some silicone, then across some super-duper NASA approved plastic (0.001% out-gassing), and then into the Thermal Reaction Chamber (TRC) that was described above.

I'd like to know more about the epoxy dots. Call me a purist.

Engineer said:
There is nothing to worry about with the epoxy dots. They are fully cured with zero possibility of out-gassing. One function of the epoxy is to hold the temp sensor in its critical position.'

So I was curious how others felt about these comments, as I didn't see much comments after these Q/A's were posted.

I'm mainly concerned about the aluminum and the apparent "0.001% out-gassing" of "NASA grade Plastic." I guess the epoxy would also be a concern, but from the comment engineer made it made it seem like there is nothing at all to worry about (even though there was nothing to worry about off-gassing of the other parts either [besides the plastic]).

I've heard so many comments about the taste being amazing and better than so many other vapes, if not the best tasting vape they have hit, so if anything was off-gassing I feel we would taste it, right?

Engineer also said that he uses the vape himself, so I'm sure if there was anything wrong with it he wouldn't use it... But who knows :p

Also I've heard some mixed reviews about using glass with the herbie, and some members talking about much cheaper vapes (i.e., arizer solo) milking tubes while this doesn't.... I don't understand how it wouldn't, seeing the videos of mass vapor production all the time. I'm using an OG Vapor Genie at the moment and that does a decent job of milking my pieces.

Is there something I'm missing, or is it hit/miss with glass pieces? Some people said using one of the aroma pads over the bud will give bigger hits?

I guess that's everything, just want to go into my new vaping experience with a positive light and not thinking about any of the materials possibly harming me, so I appreciate any input that anyone can give.

Thanks a lot everyone, and will be joining you all shortly on the herbie train :).

lasagna,
I'm very confident about the air quality/ vapor quality and impurities.

Glass use with the Herbie will continue to improve. I will have/test/post pics in the very near future of an adapter (Song) that Rathchett (FC member and 3D creator extraordinaire ) has developed.
It will allow for many different glass uses and is very inexpensive. Stay tuned.
There is even the technique of running thru glass/water with the "fan boost" assisting :)

Have you ordered one yet or are you still studying/ deciding? It is an awesome piece, designed by former NASA engineers--which you are probably aware of.

That's good about your confidence, so you're saying you're confident there is no "impurities?"

Thats' good to hear about the glass use. I have seen a lot of good pix/vids so I am excited to try it out.

I was thinking that the fan boost would allow the pieces to get more milk. I hear there is only 1 fan setting, but 2 for aromatherapy?

I ordered mine last Tuesday at 4:30 am, and it shipped out later that day. It will arrive... Tomorrow!!!

I have been super super excited about getting it, but I was a little bummed when I read about some of the things that are in the airpath, so I wanted to consult both Engineer and the FC crew.

I will basically just be using this with glass, so I hope it works great.

One of the reasons why I went with this over the Evo was because of heat time, as well as hearing about reliability with clouds in general. I also heard people saying this tasted better than the evo, and felt "less hot" in the throat/lungs, which imo is a big deal, and can impact flavor. I was also interested in a sublimator, which looks amazing with glass, but is also very pricey, but I figured this would be a better vape especially being able to do whip or bags if I ever needed to /when friends are over and want to use that.

It sounds and looks like it's an amazing vape, I was just a little thrown back by the airpath details, but from what Engineer says there shouldn't be anything to worry about, though that "0.001%" off-gassing comment was a bit alarming...

Thanks for the comment, hope to chat more with everyone!

@mayanhippy That sound definitely isn't normal. The cooling fan is a bit loud, but it's way more pleasant than that buzzing sound your unit is making. I'd send it in.
How long does it take for the cooling fan to kick in ? Nd when the cooling fan is on does air come out the back vents ?

Yeah, it sounds like repair is needed. Mine doesn't buzz at all....not much more noise than just the sound of air movement.

Howdy from Texas!

First time poster here, but I've read the entire thread and I have learned a lot before purchasing my Herbalizer. Let me just say, this place is AWESOME, and I'm glad to finally be a member. Btw, Herbie is about 2 inches to the right of my computer as I type this post. **Herbie Break**

I got my unit back in August, and it has been absolutely fantastic. I have used it A LOT. When I say a lot, I mean every single day, multiple bowls a day since the day I opened it up. I have learned what I like and don't like, and how to get the unit to perform perfectly and consistently every time. It is definitely the unit for me, and my girlfriend loves it as much as I do.

Like many others, I only use the Vaportherapy mode. I use the whip and the bags, and just recently started using a whip/bong combo (my friend bought me a bong as an early Christmas present). I stopped using the factory bags about a 3 weeks after I got the unit, and have since experimented with multiple bag styles. When I use a bag now, it is a Reynolds turkey bag with the valve in the corner of the bag, with the open edge sealed. I've had issues with valves not staying on the bowl, so I am used to holding the bag down the entire time. To fill one of the Large turkey bags, my unit takes 2-3 fan cycles, and I shake/tap the bowl in between each cycle. My bags are usually too thick to see through, and one big turkey bag can take care of 3 or 4 people depending on tolerance. 2 or 3 bags, and everyone is content for a while. I'm also never in a rush when I am doing a bag, so the fill time really is a non issue. When I am in a hurry, I use the whip. I love the flavor I get with the Herbie, and the experience is second to none. **Herbie Break**

The biggest issue I have with the bags is that they seem to get sticky so quickly. I can pull them apart while it fills, but after the bag is passed around a few times, it will get stuck together right around the valve area. Bags are great for when I have friends over, but they can be a PITA sometimes. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, my friend bought me a nice little bong for an early Christmas present. Lately, I have been using the whip/bong combo and I really enjoy it. It is a wonderful change of pace, and the higher temp hits are more pleasant. I also notice that one bowl lasts much longer when paired with the bong.

I never have any issues with temperature, and I believe my unit is calibrated perfectly. I get perfect dark brown ABV on 445 and I have never combusted. I have noticed that it takes the unit awhile to cool back down from a higher temp, but as others have noticed, the fan assist can help speed that up. I always turn the fan assist on when I want to go back to a lower temp for a fresh bowl. I usually start somewhere down around 377 and work my way up to around 425 usually. Even stopping at 425, I get consistent dark brown ABV. And man, do I make some ridiculous brownies with my ABV. **Herbie Break**

I also want to mention that I have experimented with the grind quite a bit. I have found that my unit performs optimally when I get a very fine grind. I am using a Piranha 4 piece grinder, and I usually follow this grinding process: Grind the bud with the grinder right side up, then upside down, then right side up again. I always get an extremely fine grind, and I ALWAYS get huge clouds. I also prefer to make sure my bud is adequately dried before vaping it, for the best results. I have also used the MFLB fine grinder that my friend has for his MFLB. It produces that same fine grind that the Herbie seems to prefer. It is just a bit more tedious to use.

I guess when it comes down to it, I really don't have any complaints. It was an expensive unit, no doubt. But I do feel like it was money well spent. I have saved hundreds of dollars because I don't have to buy nearly as much bud. I love the versatility, the performance, and the insta-high effect I get from the Herbalizer. I can't wait to see what Josh has in store for us. The couch is calling my name.

Adios.
