Ain't that the truth. So little 'bang for the buck' compared to 'the old days' as well. It's not all that much faster than when it cost 1/10 as much, but the number of postal workers is up, junk mail down (thank the Maker...) and wages up. And we give them zip codes and walk to 'cluster boxes' rather than get delivery to the door. Still only game in town........and I think they know it.

I buy them buy the roll when I'm otherwise forced to the PO (like for the signing of a missed Air purchase?), somehow after enduring the PO line and clerks I'm numb enough not to care how much so I buy them by the roll. I've got one spare one, the one in the dispenser is nearly spent.

If you insist you can buy the next roll, PM me for the address.......

Still a stamp here is worth so much more where it goes in terms of what's in the envelope. Good karma, that.

should i keep my air battery away from magnets?
I have a money clip/wallet that has a weak magnate in it, however, no matter how hard i try to keep them in different pockets, it seems my battery just loves attaching itself to my wallet..
Will this harm the battery?

Edit. i know i probably shouldn't let the bat get near the magnet, but if it does happen, what are the potential repercussions?

No problem. The electrons don't care, neither should you.

The only danger is electrical, as in short circuits. While makers are pretty careful to make sure you can't make dangerous contact 'up close' a magnet stuck on the battery extends that exposed contact out and attracts other metals.

Otherwise it's not like memories and credit cards, not to worry.

Been a fun day with the air watching the Hawks win and the 49ers continue to implode:D

Surprisingly my favorite piece to use with the air is my largest piece, my CGD recycler. Getting fatty hits every time and can chalk it up pretty nicely with a slow pull, but as you can see still very nice clouds with a normal draw

I think I heard someone mention using mflb battery caps to seal Air stems for travel. Do they fit snugly? Or are there any alternatives?

Also, can anyone provide links for the screens they use?

The MFLB caps fit perfectly. It is like they are made for each other. I highly recommend.

So, since you know, can you please share what you DO know about the specs. Looks like a flat-top, an un-protected type? Is it Li-Mn? What do they charge it up to? What voltage does it disconnect at?

Sorry I misunderstood you. When you said "I'm sure the battery they sell wasn't "made specifically for use with the Arizer Air", that's nonsense." I thought you meant you were sure and thought the claim was nonsense. I hope you see how I might have got that impression?

I'll agree, neither of us knows for sure, but I never claimed to.

I know little more than you. It's an unprotected 18650 (and says so on the side) flat top, much like many others I have. Same OAL and diameter generally (protected ones tend to be larger). Since it's not protected it charges to whatever the charge controller sets, in the case of my Air about 4.16 Volts IIRC. It will also discharge to death if not stopped for the same reason, my Air seems to cut off a bit under 3.4 Volts.

Oh, and I know the maker warns against substituting and considers that voiding the warranty.

It has come! I can say I'm somehow still shocked at the size despite all the vids and size comparisons. I guess there's nothing really like seeing it in person and holding it in your own hands. I'd post a pic in a little bit but a bunch of people already have. Has anyone shown a pic next to a Pax yet? Maybe I can post a pic of that. Anyone interested?

definitely interested. Would love to hear your comparison between the two. I love my pax but it kills the taste of the weed imo. And cleaning it is a bitch. And it stinks lol. But the things rips like fucking boss. Absolutely love that thing lol.

I've been through so many 18650 adventures with nicotine vapes, using very high amperage "mods". The maniacs who rig up handmade kanthal 0.2 ohm coils in their Dripping Atomizers, run them with an 18650 in a direct contact "mechanical mod", that's 80 watts, and can fog a room in seconds. They have aggressively explored the issues, and the only high drain technology that they say rules, and is so safe that you can entirely forego the protection circuit, is Li-Mn.

And the word is that the king of High Drain Li-Mn batteries bar none is the AW IMR. There are decent cheaper Li-Mn batteries like the very inexpensive and usable Efests, but the AW rules, a lot of people agree. I have some 3 year old AWs that are on their last legs but still good enough to deliver an enjoyable vape in my ProVari. They don't hold as full a charge, but they just refuse to die.

I've place my order, hope to have it here next week.
I need a "on the go" case to place my Imag+ and the Air also (as soon as arrived), not so big, maybe with some spare place for some tubes. I was thinking about the E-Cig "eGo XL" case, somethings like this, but I'm not sure... If anyone as an idea, it would be great.

About the Battery, I've some E-cig and I already have some 18650 Batteries that I use to charge with the Joyetech charger.
The Joyetech charger as:
Input: 4.8-5.8V - 1.0-2.0A
Output: 4.2V - 1000mAh

Can I charge the Air Battery with this charger?

IMRs are old friends to many of us. I probably have half a dozen or more split between 18650s and 15500s (a 'must have' for TV Alpha supplies). I'm sure Ataxian has more. Lowest internal resistance cells (therefore highest current), best suited to 'open loop' (unregulated) systems running flat out (like the TV stuff, Persei and so on).

More expensive to buy than most, and considerably shorter cycle life (they don't last as long), typically 60% or so. AW is "Andy Wong" the distributor, comes with an oval sticker with his logo. He is a broker, not a maker. He buys from several makers, from whoever can meet his improved specifications (marked for him, of course). Sort of a 'made of us' kind of thing. They cost more, and perform better than other IMRs (like Lighthound and others offer). The IMRs that Delta 9 used to ship with Omicron (AW 15650) actually does worse under load than the same (AW) 'brand' 15500. You'll find some discussion of this on the FC Omicron thread a couple years back, a very practical improvement in performance comes from shifting to the 'inferior' (in capacity) AW 15500. It led to a shorter tube option to use the 'inferior' (based on capacity) AW 15650. Wanna guess who 'discovered' and pushed that? In Persei (which can use two 18350s for higher power carts), D9 used to ship 'generic' IMRs (blue IIRC) but offer/recommends AW brand for serious use (at higher price, of course).

While they will fit Air (I checked) fine, I sure hope that's not what they are using. It would be a very questionable choice, engineering wise. And they will have shorter 'cycle life' since they wear out faster than other types. And, more importantly, there is no useful advantage. While they would trivially decrease start up time the first session, otherwise they would simply cause Air to be on a tiny bit less time each heating cycle (the 'heating light' flashes a fraction of a second less each time), since it's a closed loop system. They'd just shift the duty cycle (ratio of on to off times) by an amount that wrould defy casual measurement. And, being lower 'energy density' (less mAh) they would need to be recharged sooner (as they do in TV, D9 and other vapes that 'need' them).

"High drain" is just not useful, a trade off we can't take any advantage of. Assuming better numbers here means a better choice in this application is simply not so. We'd 'trade away' other factors we could actually take advantage of. I'll go for longer life between charging and longer service (total sessions) before replacement I can actually take advantage of every time. Oh, and lower cost, that's nice too.

So, boiled down, that's my idea on the idea. A more expensive, harder to source, shorter lived, lower capacity choice that excels in some other applications but IMO would be a bad choice here offering no trade off worth having. I hope they're not using it for some unseen reason. And I very seriously doubt they are. Their engineers know all this stuff (and more) no doubt. And every IMR I've ever seen says "IMR" on it (usually in the part number, B18650CC on the cell that came with my Air).

Yes, you can use it, but should you is another question. For now, the maker says 'no, don't do that', and says it will void the warranty.

regarding the caps for the stems... why do so many feel that a preloaded stem is optimal? i feel its pretty damn easy to load/unload on the fly.

and the oven lid/cap... it will be coming off as soon as i get mine. i took it off my solo the day i got it and i just keep a stem in there all the time.

It just depends where you are. Pulling out a bud to load it is the only unstealthy part of using this vape. Other then that its really discrete and I've used it right out at restaurants even. Doesn't seem to put out much smell. Most places it doesn't matter but when you are in public it is handy to just pull a preloaded stem out of the case. (which holds 2) I took the Air to the Christmas parade the other night and didn't have any caps so I didn't preload the stem, I just ground a bit of dandelion greens and put it in a wax container. I like those cause they are really slim and hold a few stems worth. Even my smallest herb jars are quite a bit bigger then the wax ones.

According to http://www.dampfakkus.de/ - which has quite some experience testing 18650 cells -
the included B18650CC has the following chemistry "NMC Li(NiMnCo)" (http://www.dampfakkus.de/akkutest.php?id=112)

This is the same chemistry the INR18650-25R uses for example (http://dampfakkus.de/akkutest.php?id=490)
The other metrics for the INR18650-25R seem to be sufficient compared to the B18650CC

The Maximum charge voltage is the same, the maximum discharge current is higher and it can be discharged further than the included cell (so the Air's discharge protection should be enough)

Based on this, I've ordered a pair of INR18650-25R's for nearly half the price of 1 B18650CC by Arizer and will be testing and comparing those to the B18650CC.


Keep in mind that using batteries other than the ones from Arizer will void your warranty and experimenting with cells can be dangerous, please use safety precautions when dealing with them (This contains a lot of good tips; http://www.tasteyourjuice.com/wordpress/battery-information/)

....I took the Air to the Christmas parade the other night and didn't have any caps so I didn't preload the stem....





You can McGuyver a "cap" using a screen : Form a hemisphere using a pencil, invert, and place it over the load. & you are good to go.
