Mixing Strains

So, I just picked up some K5 which is a really potent King Kush (Indica) a few days ago. The general consensus from the tenders at CRC was that it was a bit stronger than some of the other highly regarded Indica or Indica Dominate strains out there like Skywalker/Lucas Valley and Romulan and I concur. Very strong med.

Anyway, I had some Jack sitting around for awhile and I decided to try a 50/50 mix.

WOW...... :o :o

The mix was better than either the K5 or the Jack alone, and not by a small margin.

So I suggest, to those that haven't tried it, to get a really good Indica along with a really good Sativa or Sativa dominate hybrid and mix the two for an incredibly powerful change of pace.

Actually, Ruf, I've been making salads like these for decades, but I just had to post up my most recent recipe being that one, I just did it, and two, the results were outstanding and just had to share my excitement. I was so blasted last night on 3 hits from my PD, that I forgot to turn off the heater before I went to bed and woke up way too toasty, and I filled a tea pot full of water this morning to make coffee like I do every morning and forgot to fucking turn on the stove. :uhoh:

Have recently mixed some Sour Diesel and Dutch Cheese. Made supper last night, forgot about it, and then wandered into the kitchen bout 1/2 hour later and thought 'Wow, someone's cooking salmon'. It was me :cool:

I haven't mixed or created salads very often, but I do find that adding a strong Indica will take the edge off of a Sativa (for me anyways).

lwien; how long before you found out that your tea was very room temperature?

About half an hour before I thought, "Ok, where's the fucking whistle?" Guess it takes 30 min. for our brains to work through the fog. :/

For the record I am envious that you are able to make salads for those purposes. MY salads usually consist of some mid to lower(ish) grade (which is normally whats around) with a small pinch of a med strain to add flavor and aroma.

I honestly cant remember the last time I had an abundance of medical grade to experiment like that :p (Maybe one day...)

Hopefully one day. You should be able to have this kind of access regardless where you live.

I have never really tried mixing strains. I have always preferred to thoroughly sample a particular strain for the entire evening in order to really get a good idea of how it affects me. However you've got me thinking here lwien... I think I'll make a salad with some Blue Dream (sativa) and NYC Diesel (indica) tonight!

Anyone wanna toss my salad? :rolleyes:

I have noticed that the Jack Herrer in our area is usually really good. I have seen some other "Jacks" and they simply don't compare. I'm not sure if its our environment, but JH is one of my favorite strains, and is something that my father ALWAYS picks up. We had about an ounce of it at our beach house this summer and it was pure bliss. Now everytime I taste a little JH...my toes feel like they are right back in the sand.

I'd love to try some of that K5. The meds I just picked up are kinda whack....more show then go. I hate when that happens...waste of damn money. I wish they would just say "thats not really our best" or "maybe look at this".

I've been tediously anti-salad since I started vaping, especially with the PD, but I do indulge at times. Your latest experiment inspired me to do the same thing tonight lwien, I don't have the medi. quality you're working but I've got a little more info. on my strains then usual. Here goes :D

LOL I hate that too, but sadly for a majority of the uneducated - stinky=better.

Which we all know is definitely not the case ;) I have some stinky-winkies in my possession now that are about the quality of mid grade. Same with this local homegrown I have picked up on occasion. Smells out of this world, but the medicating properties just leave something to be desired...

My sour-d on the other hand... This has never failed to bring a smile to my face :) (Except when I am vaping the very last of it) :o

Yes I know what you mean. You hate even your most prized buds when you take the last nugglet from the jar...its a love/hate relationship. A vicious cycle. I love it!

I guess I can't be mad though. I donated just $50 and god a 1/4 ounce...so I'm happy with that. The strain I tried last night wasn't super potent (looks great though...maybe I'll post a pic). I have another strain to try tonight (but, I am going out to celebrate my 21st bday so I might get side tracked ;) ) and I am hoping that it is a bit more potent. It smells a little stronger and is a bit more sparkly. We'll see...

I have noticed however, that sometimes when I purchase the "shake" from the local dispensaries, it can play weird tricks with ya. Since the shake is basically the 'crumbs' of all the nug jars, you get indica, sativa, hybrids all in one batch. I and another patient have noticed that sometimes you can get a bad blend in a bowl and have some really....wild....experiences.

Yes I've done this almost exactly like you describe. I rolled a joint and put some heavy indica in with Jack Herer, and it was pure bliss.

I don't mix that often but do it sometimes when I want something different(I grow myself, outdoor, and so far only 5 plants in the backyard, so I only have 2 strains, one of them wth 2 distinct pheno's but I have almost nothing of the green pheno, and the purple pheno is also much better as the green, in ease of growing, moldresistance, earliness and quality)
I remember 2 very succesfull blends:
purple heno NDB(Nieuwe Dame Blanche, dutch outdoor strain) mixed with skunk#1(from the coffeeshop)(the skunk was very good at it's own too tough, altough it was a bit too racy and strong for most of my friends)
and one time I rolled a joint with some own cross sativa(typhoonxUK08, 2 danish outdoorstrains) and some NYC diesel that friend had, both hadn't been that high in a while

Just had 50/50 mix of Banana Kush and SnowCap. Mellow-smooth effects, but taste was awesome! Banana K is already pretty flavorful, and the SnowCap complimented it spectacularly!

Yeah I love making a salad in my grinder when I start getting too acclimated to my main strain.
This weekend I made a triple flavor salad with a pungent chemical flavor one that's my main and two citrus flavors, one spicy and pungent and the other tastes like a tangerine IPA I drink. Mixed together it was potent, sweet, add spicy with a diesel like aftertaste. I feel like I could taste the flavors independently when mixed sometimes. Old flavors become fresh. I could taste some cheese flavor in there, too.
Newest flavor craze? Pungent cheese, sweet citrus, and spicy diesel. Lol
