sasNW, awesome kit you're packing! The Elevape and AA combo is working well for me too.

What's the best way to store loaded AA stems for on the go use? Doob tubes?

Thanks man! I use the little black solo stem caps, and just keep them in the AA belt case in the side pouches. That way I can just pick up the AA pack and be ready to go whereever for a couple sessions

Also just a heads up, the stems won't quite fit in doob tubes unfortuantely and you can't fit 2 AA stems in a solo stem travel case... So it seems the AA belt case is the best option at this point

So how long before we start talking about serial #'s?...:D But seriously some have said this does not replace the Solo. Why not? What does the Solo do that the new Air doesn't?
The Solo doesn't get as hot as the Air. It gets hot and you need to wait at times until you can have another session also the session is 2 min less. It's a new portable, it needs the test of time even though Arizer make wonderful products. If you are color blind it can be an issue. It takes a long time to charge a battery. The cost is more than the Solo.

I am glad I bought the Air I have no problems with it. These are just some reasons it's not replacing my Solo. Plus my Solo is my home vape. I don't have a desktop style I use my Solo for that.

I would like to buy a car charger as well when they come out.

@Mrmrmrmr I've been using the 2014 Nitecore i2 charger and it works perfectly, so will i4.

Understood, very popular with lots of folks. But IMO 'I've had no troubles with mine' is a long way from 'nobody has had troubles with theirs'. There have, it seems, been reports of failure to terminate charge? I think we call all agree such a failure (in any charger) when coupled with (the somewhat rare) unprotected cell here is a proven recipe for disaster?

And I'm at a complete loss on how experience with one model is proof another will work "perfectly". After all success with Impala didn't help Corvair or Vega (all 3 Chevrolet products, the latter being classic disasters for those who missed that show....).

Here's my take on it (I'm no battery expert... In fact I really don't know shit about them...) but if this is a cell that is already being made and is nothing special, I don't understand why this highly sold charger off amazon would not be safe?

Then again when my house burns down does anyone have an extra couch for me and the wife?:uhoh:

Well put, with a couple of thoughts. First off, it's not known to be a standard cell, in fact the maker has said otherwise ('specially made for us'), speculation is running rampant that's a smoke screen to fool us into spending more with them I think. Shades of Grubner.......

Secondly sale by Amazon is meaningless WRT to quality or utility. It's not a product they manufacture or have any say with. In the failure mode suggested (non termination) this is not a safety issue at all with protected batteries (which we don't have), and only some fraction of the unprotected ones will fail in a truly dangerous manner and burn the joint down or otherwise harm the owner physically. Most will calmly self destruct (or rather be murdered I guess). Then again I recall reading about a series of test on the idea of 'dropping a match into a gas tank is usually safe'. The idea being you need to reach the correct range of vapor to air before the match goes out. IIRC you 'get away with it about 49 out of 50 times, better odds than Russian Roulette by far, but those too are also avoidable risks IMO.

If it does go South, grab the vape and good wife and head for Ataxian's house. He has much better stash than most of us by far. He likes guests. If he's not home, help yourself.

I think I heard someone mention using mflb battery caps to seal Air stems for travel. Do they fit snugly? Or are there any alternatives?

Lots of alternatives. They're standard '1/2 inch' vinyl caps, hardware stores often have them. I get mine here:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/120/3795/=ux7jqi

If you look further down, you'll find high temperature versions that are much stiffer and therefore harder to use routinely.....but you can jam them on a hot stem right now, should that short of need arise. Or if it just appeals to you as a good idea.

Very good points @OF , my mistake by thinking since it was an already in production cell that it was "nothing special". Please follow his advice people, not what I'm saying at all. Just something in willing to risk... But ataxians hide-a-key is still in the same spot right?

Edit- just finished my first kief sandwhich.... Fantastic!

I noticed the seal from the black tip on the mouthpiece was almost too perfect for 14mm female. When I draw it's super restrictive, which is what it looks like in your hydratube vid @SD_haze . Try putting a small piece of tubing on the mouthpiece. This helps tremendously.
You mean unscrew the black mouthpiece and replace it with a piece of silicone tubing? I concur - that would be better probably.

Did anyone else get a red battery with theirs? I opened the bottom and there was a red battery in there and it was almost impossible to get out.

The red battery is what came with mine, but it just slid right out.

With the small mouthpiece and detachable tip, how easy is it to scrape/swipe reclaim out?

any one notice there is a thin clear film on the bottom battery cover and control panel , and once peeled is a very nicely finished gloss black . Had mine for 2 days and just noticed it , looks a lot better now

Thanks.

I agree, this is a classic 'better safe than sorry' thing. More so since the safe part is at most a (hopefully brief) inconvenience since a 'known safe' alternative is already in hand once you get the Air and the 'sorry' part is very likely to happen on someone else's watch.

Last I knew it's still in the same place, but if it's out being copied when you get there, give us a shout, lots of copies floating around you know.

Edit- just finished my first kief sandwhich.... Fantastic!

Dollars to doughnuts it won't be your last.......

On the topic of techniques, I'm really happy with my 'work around' for the reduced timeout. Many of us are conditioned to the 12 minute cycle on Solo it seems? So I've taken to letting it heat to temperature, then shutting down and restarting (resetting the timer) so the total is again about 12 minutes.

Did anyone else get a red battery with theirs? I opened the bottom and there was a red battery in there and it was almost impossible to get out.

That's fun, might even support the idea of 'custom' batteries (I got 3 color coded 18650s to Beta Test in Cera from TV at one point). Perhaps they were part of a test/evaluation lot? Just a guess, of course, but I'd be real worried about the 'doesn't fit well' part......which CZ doesn't share. Some sloppiness seems to be in play, Sinclue reported one in upside down. I'd probably contact them in any case.

To answer the original question, while I can't tell you what color mine is, I know it's not red. It does have dot matrix numbers on it, does yours?

TIA

Yep, and there's another one on the front panel, covering the LED window. Typical protection from scratches and such in assembly.

Well, I ordered my Air on Monday before the black friday deal went out. Half birthday gift/half celebration for finishing the quarter strong. Was supposed to be delivered on Saturday... That didn't happen. Maybe it had to do with the signature confirmation, and being sent to my Dorm. I'll run down to the post office tomorrow, but damn this weekend has been disappointing. Hopefully I can get it tomorrow morning bright and early!

Howdy, welcome to the Forum. Feel free to put forward conjecture before having it in hand, you'll be in good company I think.

Bummer it's hung up, but soon you'll be together and enjoying each other's company. No sin being the first in line, and what more important errand can you possibly have?

Not to pick on a guy, but I'm not so sure using your Social Security number for a screen name is the smartest choice...........

Stab in the dark, but I'd say the person is 19 years old, lives in the Eastern 2/3's of Washington state, and enjoys some herbal relief from time to time.

509 = Area code for Eastern Washington state
420 = :leaf:
1995 = D.O.B.

I'm know you're joking about the SS thing, but I love deciphering things like that ;)

Actually, if you'll pick apart my username even further, you'll notice the meaning. 509 (area code) 420 (marijuana) 1995 (year I was born). I may be young, but I'm not dumb ;) Can't wait to get it in my hands and actually be able to give an opinion. Loved my solo, but she's showing her age now.

Yeah, but what's funny in that?

Glad to hear you're not dumb.....neither am I. Small world. And I can count high enough to know there's one too many digits to be a SSN......

Friends,

In the vein hope someone out there both noticed and cared I managed to lose the flat gasket for the MP (inside the 'cap') in less than an hour, I've come up with a 'fix' that also seems to have removed some of the cursed restriction:
WOajLEf.jpg

It's pretty self evident. A thin slice of 1/4 ID Silicone tube inside a slightly longer piece of 1/8 ID. They, of course, 'nest' inside one another as you can see. One complete set is installed in the stem above and is working very well. Like I said, on empty stems I can tell the difference in draw (I assume since the hole is now bigger), but once filled not as reliably. At least I think I can.

It does seem to replace the gasket well, however, even if it doesn't remove all that much restriction. IIRC at least one of 'the usual suspects' had also lost theirs? Lest I spark an epidemic of losses, anyone who wants to try (and lives in the US) can PM me and I'll send you a couple inches of 'the magic tube' to play with?

The offer's open (at least) to the end of the year. If you've got an Air and want to try it out, PM me, no need to lose a gasket. Or blow one, come to think on it.

Happy 'Pearl Harbor Day' to one and all......even if you aren't a Yank, you should still enjoy the day. IMO an event worthy of reflection.

Thanks.
