After reading the thread about the MFLB snick-mod, and reading about broken rubber bands I thought I would toss this out as a home rubber band upgrade....

Take a road bicycle inner tube (23-25c), take some scissors, cut some rings to your desired thickness.

Probably been mentioned before, but, there it is.

Got my PA...mouahahaha! So far, very nice...It's like a permanent and stable 2700 batt.

Can someone plz give me the specs of the PA in terms of electricity, cause I've got a car adaptor that fits?

i believe the PA puts out 12 volts?
you should be able to get car adapter anywhere wal mart k mart cvs. some even have different tips.
no PA yet so i dont know what size the tip is.
if you have a volt meter im curious to see if fit actually puts out 12 volts on the highest setting.

so, better than the 2700 powerex???
has to be.

The input transformer supplied for the PA gives 12v, 1250mA (1.2A). Your car should also run about 12v, but at a much bigger amps (30A? fuse for the lighter)- but I don't think that's a problem- maybe the PA just draws what it needs with the rest of the current remaining as excess capacity available from the source- so you could still run sat navs, phone chargers etc? At least I think that's maybe the case. Happy to be corrected though, as I haven't tried mine in the car yet and have only rudimentary, self taught electrical knowledge......

I don't think the output of the PA is 12v- more like running up to 1.5v -ish at a guess? Same range as a battery with just that teensy bit more, for me at least :2c:

Haven't posted in this thread in a while, although I've had the MFLB since March/10, and a slightly newer model late fall/10. Both models work fine, although the draw is easier on the new model.

Just wanted to state renewed appreciation for this vaporizer and its efficiency (no log/PD comments please, I'm well aware of them and do not currently own one but intend to). Wanted to see how long I could stretch 1g of brickweed (yeah, we get that in Canada :)).

Smoking the brickweed was, in my opinion, a complete waste. Tasted vaguely like mint, gave a small head buzz with a long, drawn out come down with zero pain relief for arthritis. Lasted about 1 1/2 hours.

Using the brickweed in the MFLB proved more efficient. About .3g lasted for an evening. If I vaped 2 fresh trenches in a row (each about 75 mg), I'd manage to get a nice head buzz for an hour with little come down. 4 trenches would suffice for a night.

I figure I'm going to get ~1/3 g ABV left that might do for a late night Indica like session.

So, after a year I'm still a very satisfied customer. Most people who have tried it, love it. Although the stealth capability of this unit was originally a selling point for me, I'm now more impressed by the ability to acquire an effective micro hit within seconds.

Yes better at maximum cranking...can finish a trench in 10mn... cooool!

Thx to you and WatTyler for the electrical answers. I have the NO2 car charger and it fits but the angle of tip fucks up the connection...hmmm, I might have to drill a small trench in the wood, for it to fit great!

Does anybody have experience/opinions on these batteries? I've never heard of Sunpak before. I'm looking to buy rechargeable batteries locally, but it seems as though most stores don't carry the bigger mAh's. I'm thinking that a camera store is my best bet...

I'm not familiar with those batteries, but I caution you that off-brand manufacturers have been known to exaggerate their capacity claims. If you shop locally, a camera store is worth checking out but also look for a hobby shop that caters to the RC flying crowd. If you shop online, I recommend that you find the best Powerex price you can and stay away from unknown brands.

Got my PA a bit earlier today and let me tell you, it is amazing! Fits well in my MFLB and works very well.

It is solid feeling, and seems to be very well engineered. I am pretty sure this is one of the near production units because it has rubber feet on the transformer, a engraved label for the dial, and the logo on the side.

Very impressed, I'm going to get even more out of my MFLB now.

A Legend in my Own Mind
Recently I have started VERY gently tamping down the trench contents very lightly with my thumb. At the same time I use my thumb to perfectly spread the load across the trench and evenly into all corners. I notice much bigger clouds this way. I can take 2-3 good hits before shaking the trench contents and needing to tamp down again.
Anyone else tamp their trench and experience bigger clouds, or is it just my imagination?

WARNING!! - this has the potential to damage your LB screen if you press your thumb down too hard, not recommended for people with heavy thumb syndrome.

I'm thinking of finally purchasing a PA, especially if people are now stating that the newer models are coming with rubber feet and a marked dial etc. I doubt the production model will differ hugely, just probably a bit more expensive.
I was wondering if you might inform a fellow man of Kent if you need a simple prong-converter or a volts-converter to run the PA over here?
When I ordered my SSV I didn't get a UK adapted one and so always have to run it through a volts converter (as a prong one wouldn't do the job). The volts converters are a bit pricey so would prefer not to have to buy another if possible!
- Also, you don't happen to know a UK-based site that's running a good deal on some Powerex 2700s and one of those fancy Maha chargers do you please? The Varta 15 minute one I've been using has definitely shortened the life of my 2700s, despite being very fast at what it does.
Cheers :)

It's a simple 120-240v transformer (so I guess it's a regulated 12v output?), and so all you need is a simple US-UK adaptor- I got mine for about 1. Otherwise you could even find a UK transformer 12v 1250mA pretty cheap for a couple of quid, which might look bit more tidy in the wall socket (and I prefer our chunky plug pins... somehow they feel 'safer' to me.. lord knows why- as if that much metal isn't going to let me down and fry me  . I think they stay in the socket firmer as well), but I don't know if it needs to be a regulated supply- the cheaper ones are normally unregulated. But you get one with the PA anyway, so not really needed.

When I got my PA I had it shipped over in 2 seperate packages- that way the value of each package was below the VAT import threshold. I had to pay double international postage, but at least I didn't have to pay the 20% VAT and extortionate extra 'handling' fees charged by Royal Mail and Parcelforce (robbers). The net result I think was almost 5 in my favour versus if I had got caught with customs fees and handling  . Even if you're above the tax threshold there's always the chance that you're package will get through and won't get taxed by customs, but I've never been that lucky yet :|

Can't help you with the charger or batteries - whe I got my LB they didn't seem to market these advanced chargers in the UK- i looked, but couldn't find- and it was going to be daft expensive to run a 110v unit (as you testify), so I just made do with a standard gentle 4-6h charger and spent the balance on loads of batts. Since then I've figured that for me it's going to be a long time before an advanced charger can pay for itself in terms of extended battery lifespan. And when they do start to tail off in performance, I stocked up on so many batteries when I first got my MFLB that that I won't be to worried for a while. But for me the LB isn't my main vape and so I don't get through enough batts to worry- I can see how for someone who only has this vape and charges their batts every day it might bring benefits. But then I'd recommend a PA instead :2c:

But seeing the link FLskwat gave, I can't help but still want one

For me the batts are now just for portable mode, and I like the dependebility of Eneloops to remain charged and ready for going out- the same four have been happily serving me for 6 months now (with the help of my PA of course!)

PS. So where abouts in Kent Wilf?, from Whitstable myself but living away at the moment...

Life. Run. Repeat.
Just got my Magic Flight around 4 days ago and I have loved every bit of it so far. It gets me pretty ripped on just a little bit of herb and is easy to use just about anywhere.

However, I have a few questions concerning the charger. First of all, is it bad to leave batteries in the charger if they are not plugged in? Does this have any negative affects like lowering the charge or damaging the batteries. Also, is there a limit as to how long you should charge the batteries for or can I keep the batteries plugged into the charger in the wall for as long as I want.

Depends on the charger, some can detect when the battery is full but others just keep trying to recharge the battery which can cause a lot of heat and sometimes make the battery less effective.

Thanks very much to you both! That charger does look great, and combined with some Maha 2700s (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000FOV92E/ref=pd_luc_mri?ie=UTF8&m=A2EDHXU5YHP80X) and a plug adaptor it comes to just under 50 from Amazon. Not too bad if this charger will end up saving me having to buy new batteries as soon but it does mean that I'll have to wait until the next instalment of my student loan to get the PA (the government would be so proud it's going to good use). Wouldn't arrive in time for 4/20 anyway so I can wait!

Mr Tyler did you email Magic Flight at the time of your purchase to request they send it in two packages? Sounds like a clever idea - I was pretty miffed to discover I had to spend another 30 or so just to have my SSV paid for and delivered from customs when I got it last year.

- I've lived all over the South East, moved house a lot, but now when I'm not at university I stay in Tunbridge Wells. This time next year my location will hopefully say Vancouver, BC though and I can't say I'll be particularly sorry to see the back of Kent!

WOW! that is super cool...thanks for sharing..I think I may order one esp. for $3.50...i've ordered quite a few items from dealextreme...very reliable...where can I get the tubing you used to attach the pipe to the box?

also considering this one:
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/2-in-1-silver-cigarette-tabacco-smoking-water-pipe-17183

Not so sure myself on the other one you've found cos of the plastic, whereas this one's all glass. I've updated the pics in my post above with better quality ones.

Regarding the tubing; I've had to use 2 pieces- the 5mm ID black silicone tubing to fit the short stem from the MFLB, and another 10mm ID piece to join that to the water pipe. Robbed the larger piece off another whip (think it was my AroMed original?) and bought the 5mm silicone off ebay- there's loads of it. But it's not food/medical grade, which I'm uncomfortable with. I'm in the UK, so can't really help you with US retailers, but I've since ordered food grade tubing from here;

http://www.arco.co.uk/products/3960102/63654/Silicone+Non-Reinforced+Tube

Not sure how I'm going to join it to the waterpipe, but it wont be hard. Here are the current joints;

Well now I am waiting for the pipe to get here, and figure I should get some tubing. Should I go with the MFLB Whip tubing first, but then how will I connect that to the water pipe? I am quite new to tubing so please help me out...

Thanks!

Well I don't know what the spec's of the MF whip are, so I can't exactly say in your case- what's the OD (outer diameter) of the tubing?

I assume it's 5 or 6mm ID (inner) and uses the same acrylic short stem that comes with the LB. You'd need another piece of tubing to the join the smaller whip to the water pipe. 10mm ID is what's ideal for getting over the waterpipe joint (that's nice and snug). It's a slightly irregular shape, and I expect they're slightly irregular sizes too, but I think 10mm ID will be best (they're made to have a cigarrette inserted, so it's just really a flared end). But I suspect that the OD of your whip is less than 10mm, meaning you next piece of tubing would need to have a smaller ID -if it's >8.5mm you might be able to get it on with boiling water and tenacity

I have gone from the 6mm outer dia. acrylic short stem, to 5mm inner dia./10mm Outer dia. (2.5mm wall) silicone, which then sticks into a tine 1" sleeve of 10mm ID silicone (13mm OD, but that's irrelevant) that then goes over the waterpipe.

This is probably the simplest way to set it up, and it might be easiest just to swap your whip for tubing of the above specs if you've got to order some tubing anyway- I believe this thread has details of some retailers;

http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=4785

Well, I just looked at that link and realised that of course most of you work on imperial units- so what I've written above might not help. Oh well, you'll have to work out the conversion yourself I'm afraid. Conversion factors are out there :)

I did.

Gotta hate them taxes. Well it's not the taxes so much- I can cope with that principle, even if it is 20%- rather, it's the extortion that the Royal Mail and Parcel Force are allowed to carry out through their mandatory 'handling charges' when you do get a customs bill. It's 8 for Royal Mail / 13.50 Parcelforce- that's often more than the tax!!!. For what? And no alternatives. Daylight robbery :ninja:  :2c:

i would actually advise against getting the BC900 and go with the BC700. it's a little cheaper, really has just about all the same features (more than you'd ever need for this usage. all you need is a good smart charger that discharges as well really), AND the BC900 has been known to overheat and be destroyed. just my $.02. i like your suggestion towards these, but i think the BC7 is just the better way to go for apparent reasons.

Agreed. BC-900 and 9009 have been known to have melt down issues. The BC 700 has been a lot more reliable in this regard. Another good choice and probably even a better one is the MAHA C9000 other than the fact that it's not as user friendly as the BC-700. Both great chargers though. My 700 has been operating flawlessly for about a year now charging Eneloops. But again, if I was going to be constantly charging higher cap batteries like the Powerex 2700, the MAHA C9000 would be a better choice due to it's higher charging rates.
