The Lotus Vaporizer

I like the old plates because the lines helped to find the center in the dark. Align the lines so that it makes a big + and just torch the center. IDK how well I would heat the new plates in the dark.

I've never had a problem with mine, the dip in the middle is a good target I hold it right in the center when I want to heat up and trace the outside when it needs to cool a bit.

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong
Compare this to the complexity of the SoloPipe which can be bought for as low as $30, the Solopipe is way more complicated so this could be priced cheaper but most vapes should.

I don't know why everyone is targeting the Lotus Vape as over priced when the Vaprorizer market is flooded with products that are simply overpriced, most desktop models like the SSV, DBV, & VB too name a few are still just a heating element and a dimmer placed inside different enclosures like aluminum tube or a wood box.

I think as consumers in the Vaporizer market, we have to get used to inflated prices because in this type of niche market, new products are going to come out all of the time and many of them are failures or duds so I think the Manufacturers price products high initially so they can recoup some of their money and then most will lower the price after it has been out long enough, and by the time they make it to distributors or Ebay, most can be bought for nearly half of the MSRP that they started as.
I have talked to my doctor weeks ago more than one time. First i got eye-drops for bakterial infections, it not worked. Then i got prescribed a cortisone cream which worked just as long as i used it.
It was just a stupid idea to ask you smart guys, maybe someone noticed the same deflektion.

I will not use the lotus for some time an see what happens.
(Just got a Wispr today )

Ps. With a heavy nickel allergy you should not smoke cigs because of the nickel content of the smoke can cause allergic reactions.

I too was concerned by nickel fumes, or nano particles coming from a nearly melting nickel plate but after reading some reviews on this thread I really wanted it.

I'm a very, very, very happy owner of a J hook kit since yesterday, nothing about it was over estimated!

still, while trying it I was wondering:

to release the small amount of nickel Max told about, you have to really overheat it, but, nickel is ferromagnetic, than maybe its particles could be retained by a magnet;

so I roll a thin flat magnet (the one you typically receive when buying on line, with some advertising on it) on the j hook and I'm vaporizing with joy while waiting for a small ash catcher to add on it

@Max Jitter what do you think about? I know you said the amount is ridiculous, but do you think a magnet around the vapor path could be enough to act as a ultimate nickel filter?

I have the old model without the patent number, dont know if that matters.
Would post a pic but dont know how...
But it would be sad if i could not use it anymore...hate it to wait till the lsv is hot.

the LSV takes 3 minutes to get hot, what kind of wait are you talking about?

If I were trying to capture the nickel fumes, I would use small rare earth magnets (which are plated with nickel), put them in shrink tubing and put them inside the stem. Then you would have to consider the fumes from the shrink tubing.
The flexible magnets are much weaker than rare earth magnets and putting them outside the stem would make for a weaker magnetic field inside the stem. The weakest field would be at the center of the stem where the vapor flow is greatest.
We have tested the Lotus for nickel fumes and the fume level isn't higher than the upper level of ambient air. That being said, if I was allergic to nickel I would still be cautious.
I would guess that any vape that uses a red hot metal heating element is putting more nickel into the inhalation air than the Lotus. I would also guess that the smaller the vape, the more likely that it's heater is small and being pushed harder and hotter.

I agree with what you said, I was thinking, because of the very small dimension of fumes, they should have same very small inertia so no need for strong magnetic field nor small distance as in shrink tubing to retain the most of them.

Don't mind, it's typical of me to sometimes over think stuff (I m not Nickel allergic)

BTW, greetings to you, it is a wonderful piece of industry, really happy you realized it.

since I got it i do not use anymore my others vapes (solo, hammer, vaponic: I'm a vape user since few months but I can already see VAS coming); while before I liked to change between them from a session to another now I only change the way I load or I use it (colder or hotter, slower or faster).

Hey @Max Jitter! Any news on the high heat Lotus? And something that I must have missed… Will it work with herbs as well as the current one?
We are waiting for parts from a supplier.
Inching ever closer to completion.
We will be selling the hi temp model as an addition to the Lotus line. The standard Lotus will still be available and both will be good for flowers.

Hey Guys. Finally found a way around having to constantly clean my screens. Not to mention the ones that go MIA while dumping the bowl. I remembered I had these stainless steel screens around from my DIY Bull experiments.

P1070218_zpsdbe120a4.jpg

Held in place with a medical grade stainless steel nose ring. Also, left over from experiments..:science:
I've only had a couple bowls and the airflow is obviously excellent. Was a little concerned about the herb coming throw but ends up not bad at all. Like the screen-less Solo stock stems. Using with water would solve it completely but doesn't bother me anyways.

It seems the load browns more even with less stirring too.

Here's what came throw a clean J hook after 2 bowls.

P1070221_zps9dd50f7b.jpg

Never actual got any grit in my mouth, these rounds anyways.
If it behaves the same as it did in the Bull, cleaning is a rare task.

@Max Jitter, are the high heat bowls interchangeable with current model and visa versa?

EDIT: For those interested, I looked around and found the ss screens again here.
When I purchased, over two years back, it showed the same picture shown in the ad, but received with less but larger holes. I think they use the same picture of the 15mm screen. This one is 12mm.
Also, I have lots of the nose rings if anyone needs. Just shoot me a PM. ;)

Decided to pull the trigger after yearning for a "guerilla" vape that gave the performance I became used to in quality plug-ins for those times you need a super quick and fast no fuss tool, and I am blown away by this thing..the water adapter is coming in a bit late so I decided to experiment anyways with it dry, I've had to avoid dry vapes for a long time now but for some reason something about this is not anywhere near the harshness of what other vapes are like to me without water.

I'm not sure how else to say it but I'm pretty excited now lol; the sudden capability for immensely different location/time requirements for a session that will do exactly what I want without wrecking my sinuses/throat to the same degree as other vapes dry do feels like a huge revelation after having been dissatisfied with ability for the vast majority of popular portable vapes I've tried to suite my particular picky needs :ko:

A couple more bowls and love it. Went ahead and did the same to the pipe.

P1070222_zps2459ddca.jpg

I think it might even make a bigger difference in the pipe for air flow because of the dome shape over the smaller opening. Will likely have to clean the air path more often but always a trade off.

Also not sure if ever posted before but here's a tip.
That cap that comes with the lighter which many buy with there Lotus. Fits the bowl perfect!!! Actually stays in place where the red shorter caps pop off. And the chain is held to the pipe by the magnets. So if does come off, you have a better chance of finding it faster.

I don't doubt that this screen works well for you.
They look real cool. So you get more bits into the pipe stem, but you get a decrease in resistance when drawing? Is this the benefit other than the cool look?

Question about Lotus technique: When I see the red circle how much longer do I want to continue heating the plate? Any one have any tips on getting higher temperature hits consistently without combustion?

You hit the nail on the head. That's the root of the reason for it.
As I has said, tired of cleaning/losing my screens. Clean because of clogging which severely decreased the air flow.
Afterwards, I found it had less resistance than even a clean fine screen. Maybe the same as a course clean screen...? Maintains this airflow well and have not yet had to clean. Lost the shine fast enough though. Because I was curious as to see how easy to be to torch while installed.
Still finding it seems to brown more even too and stir less. Maybe the lifting off the sides of bottom of bowl helps this..? The hot spot seems much less. Definitely a keeper for me.

As an update, I tried the normal pipe with this screen and get small bits into my mouth for sure. Not a big deal for me anyway but there is leakage. Could always put a small condom on the end with some cotton.

;)

@JimmyCricket ~ When I see the red dot form, I continue to heat but I back off in distance from the flame a little bit and I also continue to move the tip of the flame around the top of the plate (not keeping the dot in one spot).

It is a dance, balancing the length of flame, the distance of flame to plate, and your draw speed all at once. Try different techniques though, this is only what works for me;)

You can put less herb in and apply the heat a little longer. Try 1/2 bowl. Depends alot on the weed too. Need to play and test. IMO, Bowl size. draw speed and flame length all play equal rolls under your control. The variable not in control is the herb.

Have fun. Thing is, by the time you find the sweet spot, you'll be so fucked you won't remember how to repeat it.

I think this is right. I hover a half inch flame in place over the middle for several seconds, then move up and down, and finally in a circle. You'll soon get a feel for what works for you, but the important thing, IMO, is to get the center hot to begin with.

Sup all, haven't been on in awhile, but have really been enjoying my lotus. I bought a 5 pack of cheapo torch lighters on amazon to start me off, but all the spark ignitions have died on them. Can anybody link me to a solid torch lighter that won't fail so quickly? Preferably one eligible for amazon prime.
