Hi guys,

Just wanted to let everyone know that Adam Scorgie's film The Culture High was released Friday on Vimeo. It is a followup to his infamous first weed film The Union. This one has big names like Joe Rogan, Wiz Khalifa, Richard Branson, etc. and focuses more on the political side of cannabis prohibition.

It is $12.99 and includes a 3 gigabyte 1080p HD download. I was unfamiliar with Vimeo but I signed up just to pay for and view this film. I was happy I could download a high quality DRM-free version. Anyway I'd recommend you support these guys hard work and check it out on Vimeo. If not, I'd also like to mention I just googled the "The Culture High" in google and the full HD version also appears right in YouTube. Enjoy and i'd say support the guys if you like it :) I know I did.

Salutations Steele Concept,

Yes, we already got a dedicated thread:

:D

Maintenant disponible en version originale (i.e. en Anglais) au coût de 12.99 $ chez iTunes et Vimeo!!

It is $12.99 and includes a 3 gigabyte 1080p HD download.

Excellent, it turns out i was wondering how much it would "weight"... Knowing it's DRM-free at Vimeo only makes it sound even better!

...I'd recommend you support these guys hard work and check it out on Vimeo.

Evidently, as this is one of those times when i can't think of a good reason not to spent 12 $ so wisely!!

The initiator of this project was confident our community would show its support, he got a leap of faith and now is the time to let money talk. Lets not such faith be in vain!

:leaf:

Not to mention YouTube won't be pleased with copyright infringment, anyway...

Good Day, have fun!!

Good stuff @Egzoset. I know the movie was well worth the $13. Glad Score G removed the full video from YouTube if it was a 3rd Party engaging in copyright infringement (I didn't look a whole lot into that)

For video nerds the 1080p clocks in @~4 gigabytes h264 codec AAC 2.0 audio. In other words, good quality and no DRM BS

Enjoy and enlighten yo'selves. Joe Rogan always seems pretty on point to me and Richard Branson has got a good head on his shoulders. I was surprised with some of the commentary from Mr. Snoop D-O double G. Dude is pretty wise and can sum things up rather nicely.

Hi again Steele Concept,

Good stuff... ...well worth the $13.

There's no doubt in my mind that in terms of honesty this will beat anyhing i've seen on TV over the years, i just wish my cable distributor will offer it in time for Christmass!! Maybe even in French (or closed-captioned) so i can tell others, eventually...

Salutations,

There's a worst scenario for me other than just having to wait patiently, as i'm not the guy who needs it most at all: actually it's the people around who would need to view it - and in French for that matter! So, even if i submit a suggestion to my cable-distributor and i get my full treat then the reality here is still that nobody will learn a second language in order to watch some motion picture on "pot" anyway.

The worst scenario is to watch our French-speaking SRC and TVA stations actively engaged into negatively-biased propaganda which the folks around can't even decode, with nothing to balance. Consequently the one way i see how to get this translated faster shall be through paying my 13 bucks as soon as an opportunity arises, hoping many more will join in the meantime, because i don't see it happen in our TV world at the moment!

Salutations Silver420Surfer,

Seeded on TPB as well, for those who may not have other access.

It turns out i didn't know what "TPB" stood for, now i do:

(The Pirate Bay)

So, it's not my intention to leave a wrong impression, yet the thing is i need to re-express my previous statement(s) when it comes to support! Anyway P2P and whatnot are most certainly a bad idea on the land of Harper...

But more importantly, i'm eagerly wishing for an opportunity to prove my own support in a concrete manner; though i won't go to extremes thinking this film will come to me in its good time. Really, if one of us here needs money so badly the poor guy can't afford investing 13 bucks in his own interest (...), then maybe we should organize a collect after all!! Or some FC contest or something!

:2c:

Too bad if my TV distributor is the last on earth to provide it, i'm already on the author's side and hence i feel no urge to have my eyes opened much wider while avoiding payment - which doesn't mean i'll turn my back to such entertainment, quite on the contrary!

Still. TPB? I don't think so.

It's not being rude, that's just me.

Good day, have fun!!

Downward spiral
To each his own, @Egzoset. I truly respect your opinion, you're a cool cat, and I hope I did not offend you, that was not my intention. I just wanted to provide an option for those who cannot afford $13 to watch a movie one time. I am out of work, so to pay that much for something I will only watch once is, ludicrous, in my opinion. $2-3, I would have gladly paid in a heartbeat.

While it was an enjoyable watch, there was no new, groundbreaking information in this as far as I am concerned. It's the same stuff I already knew, just presented in a different way. Most knowledgeable patients/users/supporters, already know most of the material presented in this movie For a true cannabis activist, nothing new here. I do wish this was made available to the "rest" of the folks out there who do not use/endorse marijuana. That's where I see it making an impact or causing them to possibly re-think their anti-cannabis stance or at least a road to an open dialogue to discuss the issues further.

Hi again Silver420Surfer,

...you're a cool cat...

Well there may have been times when it was felt i'd eat the head 1st but that's definitely not one of those.

:D

I just wanted to provide an option...

Near the very end of the following interview from The Young Turks m. Adam Scorgie, the producer, actually expressed his priority to see that the film reaches any audience he intended to target, while assuming the risk from distribution channels such as Vimeo, etc.:

YouTube: The Culture High - Debunking Lies About Marijuana (2014-Oct-17)

[ 18:20 ]

« But if you really want to protect children or youth, taking away their right to education, criminalizing them, preventing them from traveling or getting another job, and possibly putting them in a prison, in a cage, that is far more damaging than not only cannabis but just about any drug that you can find!! »

Anyway, although it was nice to listen at background from the creators it seems the TYT host would have been better advised not to wake up Brett Harvey in Poland at 3:00 am, early in the morning...

:ko:

While it was an enjoyable watch... It's the same stuff I already knew, just presented in a different way. ... For a true cannabis activist, nothing new here.

Of course these days presentation format matters at least as much as the subject itself; not to mention historical facts won't change, they're just getting harder to hide or twist. Still in Harper land here's what information we Canadians will get and this worries me quite seriously:

Now it's one of those cases when my "feline" instincts would emerge, the Ozzy Osbourne style...

Because i fail to see what's so healthy about promoting hateful misconceptions nationwide using public money...

102.gif

That's Plain "Schedule 1" Bigotry! Hence an increasingly urgent need to counter-balance.

I do wish this was made available to the "rest" of the folks out there who do not use/endorse marijuana. That's where I see it making an impact...

Then it appears you and m. Scorgie are in agreement.

I watched it with a few friends, they both fell asleep but I watched the whole thing while vaping.. It covered a LOT of topics and went very deep into the politics of it which I enjoyed. It was a more serious documentary that really aimed to inform and push forward with the knowledge and wisdom we have surrounding MJ research, therapeutic value and the hypocrisy of the DEA & America..
How wonderful, and it ended so emotionally. I found myself fighting tears at many points, and one story of the epileptic girl broke me down. Very heartfelt documentary that everyone should watch, MJ smoker or not! It was relevant and important for our time.

Thank you for suggesting it. Gave me a lot to think about and i'd surely watch The Union after being introduced to such wonderful film makers.

This is what really matters about it i believe, which would be to gain credibility through popular acceptance. Of course there are film critics who may never recommend it, for example right before it was released internationally one of those claiming to have insight above the rest commented in those approximate terms (e.g. my version): interminable demagogic/paranoïd rhetoric for elder stoners and their blank-eyes cloud-chasing friends... With all tracks being scrambled because such baffoons must not be allowed to attract more attention than was given simply for mocking the work of others.

The good news being that's additional incentive to promote it, knowing the bigots are going to hate it!!

That sounds pretty much like the exact type of prescription required to cure societies that failed us for decades...

Thank you for suggesting it.

All credentials should go to Selah who isn't active on FC anymore, unfortunately.

Thank you Selah for providing us early hints, the initial goal was attained finally!!

Yes, not to mention it's been made available on-line for a long while:

So i figure there's no objections or it would have been removed already. Also, while revisiting this topic on YouTube i noticed a version with French subtitles was uploaded recently...

Good day, have fun!!

Salutations everyone,

It was relevant and important for our time.

About this specific perspective over 'The Culture High'...

Well that's certainly the 1st time i heard of a cinematographic KickStarter funded project as far as i'm concerned. Indeed the achievement alone does have importance as it proves relevant in showing how to get a voice despite traditional media failing the task, especially when it comes to seeking objectivity. So it may have opened the door to more...

Hummm...

Its generic mentions some Canadian Tax exemption though the film appears to aim somewhat more globally at a vast Nord-American audience that won't notice a few significant voids yet to be covered. Anyway i still hope it's eventually broadcasted during the same prime-time slots as J.E. on TVA or Découverte for SRC!! In French so all my folks can understand, once they'd be willing to listen, that is.
