Hey all. Long time since I've stopped by the forum, but I recognize some names still. At any rate, it seems after 5 or 6 years, I need to start looking into replacements for my beloved myrtlezap. I've had the rattle for a good while now, and my 2nd 12v transformer has just kicked the bucket. Running on 13v now, but I'm not sure for how much longer!

Rick's product has been my favorite and Rick and everyone around these forums has always been good to me, so I'm just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a similar product...I trust ya'll! I saw rebuild services a few posts above, but I'd probably like to get a ceramic lined unit, as I purchased my 'zap right before the ceramics were being made! At any rate, if ya'll have had success with a product similar to the 'zaps, I'd love to hear about it. And Rick, good luck with everything now and in the future!

I switched from a CRZ to an Underdog and I'm a happy vaper! Can even use the same stems.

Would he be able to upgrade my old Myrtle unit to a CRZ equivalent? I'll have to check into this...thanks for the advice, folks.

So good to hear from so many of our old friends. Been a long time Reese with many memories and shared Emails over the years. Good to see "Uncle Vito" still around and offering his sage advice. He has helped countless fellow vaporists in so many ways.

Been a long time since we have visited FC. We kept busy through October with farm deliveries which was a month longer than past years. Our 20x48 store-bought hi tunnel sure did help extend our growing season and should even do a better job this coming year. It also was helpful that some of our restaurants are getting more into greens than in the past as most greens do well with a little frost and cooler weather.

We are really enjoying our 'retired year'. This is the first time we have ever been able to just lay back and do nothing if we feel like it. If there is something that needs doing like feeding animals or bringing in the wood, sure, it gets done but as for the un-essential stuff, it gets done only if we feel like it and with the cold weather we often stay in the warm house and watch an old movie or visit with neighbors or take a nap. Fun to be here and be happy with just being rather than always doing.

I am still on supervised probation but have been "due" to be taken off for several months now. The wheels of justice turn very slow when working in our favor. My paperwork has been turned in to the prosecutor and then goes to the judge so maybe we will get a nice Christmas present soon. Last year we got a nice one as some of you may remember when we received word that the State of Idaho moved to drop all charges in the civil case which gave us our home and property back. They had attempted to take our property through forfeiture proceedings because manufacture of paraphernalia carried a civil forfeiture clause in Idaho. That was the sweetest news ever as our place, home for close to 40 years, is about all we have. The good news in the criminal case is I am in the cherished random UA group #17 now and have been for a couple months. Group 17 tests only one time a month, still random but just once. I have been MJ clear for over a year now and still doing fine with it. I do miss my old friend though and might dabble with it a bit when I am free to do so. I do know I will never go back to the heavy all day recreational use of the old days. I enjoy the natural high offered by my unaltered brain. Pat does too. She is using a MJ infused salve for her aching knees offered to us by a long term FC friend and it is helping. We also think some light MJ use may help with sleep by easing the aches of an old body which keep us awake at times. Pat will be 71 soon and I am 68 now. It is exciting to see the laws change for recreational use. I honestly never thought I would live to see the day. In any event, I will be able to go back to court this spring to motion for my withheld judgement to be fulfilled. All criminal charges will be dismissed and my record will be sealed. That is how it is supposed to work anyway.

As for fixing that shorted CRZ, Akwardsause and others, remember to keep the two small brass tubes going up to the heater separated also. As I recall, we used glass beads on one of the leads to keep the two leads from touching. If the input power plug does come loose and twist, there will be trouble because the wires leading from it will touch and short from the twisting causing no power to the heater and possible damage to the wall wort(transformer). Also, as many have mentioned, Underdog Dave can help with any needed Zap repair work. He and Underdogette have been very good to us during our post bust period.

That is about it for now in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We do have all three grandsons at our sons place across the draw from our house now which is a major blessing for us. They love the country and the same small school their Dad and uncle Ben attended. We get to see them and feed them often. Their Dad, Mike, also has a very good job now in a close small town. He is driving big trucks and doing different mechanical/logging work for a local guy that pays very good wages for our otherwise low paying Idaho. Thanks again for all the good words. You all bring back wonderful memories from our 10 plus years at FC.

Hey all...
Just a quick question...A friend loaned me his ceramic zap over the holidays as he's not able to partake at the moment...

Does the ceramic take a 12v or 13v transformer?? Will a 13v damage the ceramic rock zap? My 12v took a crap and I haven't ordered a replacement yet...but I have a 13v from my old unit...

Thanks people!

I have one of the 13.5 V transformers Rick used to sell. I used to hook it up to an already warmed up Cherry Zap for short periods, like 20 minutes, to get an extra hot vape. I think it runs a bit too hot to leave a unit on with that indefinitely. The good news is it's very easy to find a twelve volt ac or dc transformer. You may even have one somewhere in your house for some other appliance.

All unregulated transformers usually put out more voltage than listed on the specs. A 12 volt with the load of a Zap hooked to it will actually be putting out close to 13.5 volts. The 13.5 volt rated transformer is probably putting out close to 15 volts with the Zap hooked to it. The vapes can handle that voltage but are not happy running that hot consistently. I agree with Gunky that use of a 13.5 should be for short periods only.

On another note I am curious. Does anybody know long THC will stay in the system if a person has been 'clean' for over a year? Say a few vape hits only? Just asking as I have heard different answers in our journey through the legal system. Does a clean body process the stuff differently than a regular user body?

For Urinalysis:
It depends on how much body fat you have.
The more body fat the longer it stays.
THC attaches to fat cells...
A person that has little body fat can process those few hits in a short time, if they do not eat fatty foods...
fiber and liquids help.
There are many "cures" but I have not tried any.
A short time being maybe 78 hours to a week.
High body fat... it could show for 2-3 weeks if techniques of testing are advanced and well read.
Never more than 3 weeks.

If you have a minor exposure it's pretty easy to beat a urine test just by drinking tons of water for the 24 hours prior. Hair is hard to beat normally but minor exposure may not turn up right away.

Jack of all trades, master of none.
I've passed at least 7 piss tests and have vaped the night before. I just drink a lot of water on the way to the test. Most places only pay for the test that uses a strip and does not detect dilution. I've even had it tested in front of me and passed. I have random tests because of my job. Lame. Good luck!

Hey! It's been awhile since came by these parts, maybe it was this last hit off of my Myrtlezap that inspired me?
Rick, it's good to read your last post. I may never be able to retire, and you seem to be doing it so well. But I do manage to get a bit more QHT these days than in the past. "QHT" is Quality Hammock Time. Over these many decades I've learned that the more time I can spend in one of my hammocks, the more I can be sure that I've got my defecated matter together. Being that Sativas are the only thing growing (and growable) in these parts, if I've got unfinished business anywhere...I can't appreciate that womblike comfort and enjoy a good read on a good buzz. Anxiety can be your friend.
To the Folks here. This is the best thread. You're all genius for choosing a Zap.
Take care, Rick.

I bought a couple of aromazaps in my time. Replaced the zap with a HA, then a cano came into my life and I needed a grinder and the only grinder I could find was the free aromazap grinder I received with my zap. Took me back.

All of my Zaps are still going strong; even my OG Myrtlezap. Some have been delegated to aromatherapy, but I always have one of my CRZ's plugged in 24/7 for those quick hits.

Gotta say, I miss the old Zapville days. I'm a branded, die hard Zapolina and always will be.

Hard to believe I just decided to click over here after many days of not checking FC. I must have picked up some vibes from that die hard Zapolina who has always been so good to us here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Doing great here. Once again getting anxious for spring to start. We still have plenty of snow on the ground and it is getting to the low 20s at night but the wonderful sun gets us to the high '30s/low 40s in the day which slowly melts the snow and de-ices our 1/2 mile driveway. Seed catalogs are coming and high tunnels are warming. We are using a neighbors long unused treadmill to keep up with some good walking as it is too slick and snowy outside for anything but daily chores.

Thanks for the comments on how long that terrible THC stays with us. I was just curious as I will not break the rules dictated by the court that still govern my behavior. Getting close. In May I will get all charges dismissed and hopefully my record sealed. Sealing records in Idaho is not so easy and certainly not automatic. Idaho is a strange bird among the States in this great country. We are in a small minority in this 80+ % red state but we make the best of it living our own Heaven on Earth.

Wow, free grinders with Zaps does go back a long way as does our memories of Hammock Guru. Keep up the good work HG. Good to hear you are getting a little extra hammock time.

Mom, thanks again for being you. We have fond memories of the good times too as with all the rest of our old Zapville friends. It was a neat chapter in our life that will always be remembered.

I do have to repeat the adventurous dreaming still a part of every nights sleep. Sometimes friends/co-workers from 50 years back are clear as day. Often people who have long ago passed on appear in the always goofy dreams. The mind is a wonderful, amazing piece of work.

Til next time. Thanks again all.

Rick

Dug out the CRZ from its long hibernation. Around the time that I got a VXH Cloud, the CRZ's variable voltage transformer died (didn't last very long), and I put the CRZ away.

1. What VV transformer is recommended? I'm slightly inclined, however, to stick with a SV transformer. Is a 12 volt transformer the best? It wasn't clear to me from the discussion above. Is a 12VAC 1000mA output appropriate?

2. Can someone remind me how much the normal CRZ stem bowl holds? (I'm vaguely remembering .125g.)

3. In the cold weather, is it helpful, unhelpful, or irrelevant to keep the CRZ wrapped in some cloth or something, as I used to do with the ol' PD?

Thanks.

2. think volume not necessarily weight (fine weed is denser) . Fill to the line with medium grind.
3. not needed, but not prohibited!

Vitolo: Thanks for the info.

Fair enough. But I was wondering approximately how much that micro-load of fine grind weights. I forgot how efficient the logs are. Thanks again (and to Madcap78).

Just want to let everybody know we have transferred the Aromazap URL to Dave at Underdog.
It is good to see folks can click on Aromazap.com and get some info and help rather than the "Aromazap is closed" notice that has been on since July 26th 2012. Pat and I met Dave and Amanda a few days before we were visited by the Idaho State Police who shut us down for good. Underdog is a very good log vape with excellent service and quick delivery. Dave and Amanda are good people who take their business seriously and devote all their time to it. You can't go wrong joining the Underdog family in our opinion.

All is well here. 2 more UAs and two more months I will be "free" from the judicial system and back to an old guy with a clean record. We are getting an even earlier start on Howling Hills Farm this year with possible deliveries in late April. It should be a great year as I have gone heavy spreading yards and yards of our black gold compost from Wilma, Daisy and Ginger on our terraces and in the high tunnels. New seeds are here and Pat has the indoor starting room almost full already. She also had an appointment with a very good knee doctor Monday and got a shot in the knee done correctly. She is all smiles for now but will probably need a new knee when our growing season is over. Life is good.
