Not finding much joy with my ceramic donut carts. Yes they heat to a glow no problem but no matter how I load I seem to loose oil down the tube. One night of use and maybe .3 of oil and the thing was sealed closed and leaked down to the bottom of the atomizer to the battery connection and was stuck to that until I heated it. I have used a few Kiss carts and never had leaks below the ceramic cup, ever. Touching the outside of the cart the morning after using it and it was covered in oil residue,as well as my jacket pocket, the counter top, apparently every where it touched but in my lungs. Well I had been drinking that night so I cleaned up the unit with 99% ISO and tried again the next night to help nurse a lingering hang over. It was a mess, began dripping out the lower air hole that connects to the battery on the second small dab...so not an overload. A few more dabs and the top got hard to unscrew, pretty obvious design flaw with the unit if you know oil since the top that screws on has a flat top screen just above the threads, duh it will collect and drip to the threads and lock them closed. At the least the unit with sub ohm heats super quick to unlock the sticky mess. My first unit is either a complete failure of design or a complete failed unit. I have a second unit and will give it a go to see if it performs or fails but I used so little material to have such obvious failures to be confident using the second unit will be any different.

IMO this is pos stuff as far as the ceramic cup and members of FC are building far superior one wax hitters then this pos. I will power up the second unit tonight and report but don't hold your breath on this BS? Many of us have building our own units and IMO are far superior and safer materials being used then this stuff. I know to get this cart to perform as I want it and not just smolder my oil I am pushing it, I feel I get an extra flavor of wire connections I am pushing way to hard. A sub ohm cart getting 3-4.2v....hmmmm, sum thing is burning.

@GR could you elaborate one of your setups that is much more efficient in this $60 price range? I'm fairly new to the oil pen world but not new to oil by any means. Also, anyway you could post pics of your issues or elaborate on the setups? I'm looking for a cart like this or the Herc but am not trying to dish out on a herc + persei and batteries when I usually go to the pen for stealth, and not as my main driver, that's the rig :). Any input people have on this would be appreciated. I planned on buying the Robox mod with this but the 2nd gen donut as well as some feedback reported have left me reluctant, somewhat. THANKS GUISE

DropGlobsNotBombs, I've had the Robox and Donut v1 for about a week. It's working great with no problems so far. Lots of flavor and big clouds.

Has anyone had their coils die relatively quickly? I got the 2 pack stainless steel ceramic rod atomizers and my first one died after 7 days. I left my VV settings the same, too. No idea what happened... :(
let me know what your settings were on your VV, even if you had it too hot, I don't hooking up new people and customers so they have a enjoyable investment.
thanks

Not a lot to go on with the donut cart. So my basic ecig therory of double ohm for watt setting is running thin with 1ohm. How high can I bump this sucker, I have 20 watts to spare?

Would rather not push this cart until burst but looks like I will....going strong at 9.2 watts....push push push

Ok, I am pushing this cart and it is giving me what I want. For how long is my next question because I am happy for now.
i will guarantee it for 4mos

I never tried the Gentlemen's brand but all that I read is not very good, the donut is tasty and cloudy with the good tool!

Hey Divinetribe!
Are those LR 2.1 ohm Bridgeless Atomizers you have better than the gentleman's brand atomizers?
Those atomizers have nothing but a metal coil and tiny well... they work well, and have been using my two attys for a year or so.
I would much rather buy those off you if they are better, which at my first glance they do...
just kinda lost on what to get now. Buying a beginner set up for my friend and some attys for myself...

Can you compare your donut setup to your SR71 w/ Persei? I'm mainly a rig-man but I need a decent pen and HATE all the current types out besides the Donut and Herc. Do you think the Robox mod could suffice for a decently heavy hitting pen (that doesn't burn the errls)? I don't wanna dish out on a pen.I'd love videos :)

Cant speak of the SR-71 however the SR-74 @ 7.4v performs a notch above the donut/robox IMO:science:
Whoops, SR74 is what I meant. I know that the donut isn't going to obliterate .3 of shatter in one pull but could it be comparable to a decent sized dab? This is why I'm interested in pics of the bad boy in action and more pics of material inside the donut itself, I've seen all there is already :)

Nice! No worries, it is holding up just fine.

My first one is a mess, I must have over loaded or laid it on its side with liquified oil in it and it is all down the air path and coming out the bottom. Can I iso soak it?

My second donut is working just fine. I load and finish before setting it down and I have had to leaking issues.

I an still a bit cautious of battery health using sub ohm atomizers. I find if you do a few dabs in a row my 18650 will get very hot so I rotate batteries with each dab or two.

Sup everyone, first time posting (but not lurking:p) around FC. Thanks to you guys I found out about DT, and I ordered the smooth ceramic dual coil micro skillet. Two questions (and sorry Matt, I know I emailed you these questions before, but customer input is dope too.) Just wanted to know: 1) For the 2.1ohm dual coil, it's really more like 1.05ohm per coil right? It should relatively be safe to vape with the voltage at 3.2, right? Yes, I bought a VV battery, but the lowest it goes is 3.2. 2) Any recommended filling techniques that will allow me to place dabs on the coils without it falling through the air hole? The space between the two coils seems pretty wide, and I feel that as the wax is vaped, it will eventually fall through and I will be running into the same issue GR had with reclaim getting all over the connector and threads.

Either way Matt, keep up the good work, I look forward to owning one of your glass globes, and a Robox as well. Hopefully by then the V2 donut will be out.

I've had the DT Donut for about 2 weeks now. Overall very happy with the taste and reliablity. So far no leaks from the air holes and no oil outside the unit whatsoever. If you have easy access to EO or just don't care about loading a lot, The DT Donut is for you. If not, go with a LAYG.

Essential oils tend to build up on the upper walls and filter. You can see it's clean under the donut and vapor production is compromised:

If your like me, the solution is simple. Load some more (about .3g in this pic):

Sorry, but I'm not interested in the Robox/Donut build, I'm interested in the performance of the micro skillet atty, specifically the 2.1ohm smooth ceramic wick dual coil atomizer.

Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't directly replying to your post. Just some pics and info for curious donut folks out there. Hopefully someone will chime in about the DT micro skillets.

@Nube Scrutator I greatly appreciated the pictures, thank you for the follow up :)

If I own LAYG and I hate the taste, is this for me? What's the vapor production like? 100 points to anyone who will upload them loading and ripping the robox mod! Or maybe some BTC. I wanna see this thing in action!

hey fellow bloggers , I just moved offices up to Arcata, CA and have been pretty busy working the holiday rush. I am using the v2 donut sample now and sending one to a fellow FC friend to sample today. Ok just to get everyone up to speed. The donuts are not ideal much room is still needed for engineering, design, and functionality,
Problems

1st problem , the intake air holes are too close to the donut which allows wax to go into lower portion of atomizer, which bothers me because i can not access it to clean it.

2nd problem the top chamber has the little screen holes, they put them on the version 2 as well and i ripped into them about that. no holes are needed, i don't want a restricted draw when i am inhaling. open it up and make it easy to draw and clean.

3rd The surface space that gets red hot on the donut is not wide enough to produce huge vapors like you can get on the surface of a oil rig nail. I feel like I can't get huge hits, and It is impossible for me to get a expanding , coughing hit with any vaporizer pen period. TRUTH
The amount of power needed to get the surface that I need hot is too much for the current battery sources out there. however there are many 100watt mods flooding the market that my manufacturer and I need to test along with making a beefier ceramic tech atomizer with a wider red hot surface.

GOOD THINGS
The donut is still the cleanest tasting coil to smoke from that i have found.
It's low priced
It gives great big enough hits to 60% of users and decent enough hits to put most other vaporizers to shame.

I will be getting a MSDS report done for off gassing within a month of the v2 donut atomizer being released,
no more wondering what chemicals are going in us. IT's time to regulate ourselves before the govt has to do it for us. I say lets stay on top of this so it does not get banned by some idiot bureaucrat.

If anyone has any direct questions I will email you from matt@ineedhemp.com, It's hard to scroll though all the posts here on FC and answer them all.
Have a great Dec, thanks again for the awesome posts, ideas, pictures of other products that compare, the glass rig pic with the robox about 12 posts up.

thanks
Matt Macosko
