Crafty/Crafty+ by Storz & Bickel

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
Hi all, a little bummed and need some advice. I pulled the trigger on a Crafty 3 weeks ago, but went with an online vape store to save a few bucks. They have still not shipped to date and they say it is back ordered, no inventory etc. I have reached my wits' end and would like to cancel and shop elsewhere. Any other vape store that reliably ships the Crafty and has stock? I know I can order from S&B but they are a few bucks more with taxes etc.

PuffItUp!
Randy has them.
No sales tax (ships out of Nevada) and free shipping.
I had mine in two days.

Edit: I'm in California

If you're outside of California, I don't think you'll get hit for sales tax. :2c:

:peace:
Don't think that's true anymore Stu. California one of the few charging for out of state purchases now too. I guess it also depends on whether the retailer complies with this but I would bet most of the big companies do.....

Both of my craftys came from S&B, shipped out same day next day air, no sales tax.

scottg402, I am noticing the same thing, running at 370F normal / 390F boost. I get about 40-50 hits to a full bowl. Going to experiment some with just boost temp and see if I can get more sessions out of the charge.

40-50 hits per bowl..... OMG HOW. I can't even imagine that. I get maybe 10? MAYBE.

Just a few days ago, I was noticing a similar phenomenon. When I was boosted up to 205° C, the hits just kept coming, and coming, and coming...

I didn't count, but I would easily put the number past 30 before I just had to stop. I was quite perplexed, I didn't understand how I could keep getting hits. I was using the same bud as before, no changes there.

Yesterday I finally get home and am able to clean the cooling unit. HOLY SHIT WAS IT CLOGGED! There was tons of debris/honey in the cooling unit. That was the source of my perpetual hits. It had been a decent amount of time since I had cleaned the unit. Guess I'll clean a little more frequently from now on ;)

I had a revelation the last couple of days after trying too hard to clean my dirty CU! :science:

I open it every few sessions (depends on the strain…) and give it some good brushing and blows and looks like new again. It takes a minute and it will take a looong time before an ISO cleaning….

Crafty is the easiest vape to maintain so far! And the overall best!!! Battery is also a non issue for me so far! :)

I tried to clean the Crafty last week. I slid the top part, with the hologram on it, back to unlock the cooling unit. But when I tried to take it off the unit I must have been too aggressive because it wasn't as secure when I tried to snap it back in place.

And when I turned the piece around and looked at the back, on both sides I could see where it is suppose to connect with the groves of the cooling unit and I also saw that I accidentally stripped them down.

So I called Storz and Bickel and basically claimed it came that way (I know a little dishonest of me smh) But any way he sent me a new little top piece with the hologram, but the guy went on to say that I never needed to take that piece off. When I said the manual tells you to, he said he knows but it should say optional.

All you need to do is slide it down to unlock the cooling unit. Then just take the unit apart and clean it. And when your finished, put it back together and just slide that top piece back in place. Thats what I plan on doing from now on and just thought I'd share.

I have never took the hologram off myself… Didn't even notice it can come off!

I am out of buds myself these days and have been using only leaves from a harvested little plant that a friend gave me for free. I fill the bowl to the top, temp at Max and take one good, strong, long hit. The temp drops to 195C. The load is already spent but still green, I dump it and load a new one. I repeat for 5-10 more times and I am usually quite lit by then! Talk about efficiency! Getting off with just leaves! I wouldn't dare this with my past portables for sure. Crafty is dump, blow the bowl, reload, continue vaping! it's amazing!

I couldn't resist this weekend.....Pulled the triggah.

After trying practically every portable out there, this is the one i like the most so far..

What i do like:
- It gets you medicated. Like, really medicated. No other portable ever got me this high.
- The vapor is cool. The cooling unit is absolutely doing it's job. A lot of thought has gone into it.
- The vaping experience is THE best i have experienced from a portable, it's really the S&B experience in a pocket.
- Smart phone app. Helps to keep the device simple and simply works.
- It vibrates. Yes ladies, it does vibrate!

What i don't like:
- Battery life. She's a battery hog this one. It spends about 1,5/2 bars per session. Which comes to about 3 sessions. Furthermore it takes a looooong time to charge it back up even at 2 amps. Compared to the Flowermate, this is a battery life nightmare.
- No little place to stash or attach the little tool when charging.

Initially i thought it would be kind of a non-issue because i have plenty (pun intended) of power banks, but seriously, this is annoying. The charge/use ratio is not on point.

Those are my initial thoughts. I'm usually more of a lurker, but i thought i'd give my 0.02 $ :)

Happy baking! :lol::peace::leaf:

Well got my crafty back from repairs for the broken turn on switch. Charging up right now. They sent a full new replacement kit. Not bad turnaround shipped it back last Monday got it the follow weds. consider had Thanksgiving in the middle I felt that was quick. I also had a question on repair. The repair person I spoke with was super friendly and help full on answering it.

I Really like this vaporizer it rank up there as one of my favorites. Glad to have it back and really hope it was just a fluke that it broke so soon.

I was thinking the same thing Roth, probably just hitting reclaim from the cooling chamber.

I decided to just go all out and use the methods you fine folks here shared. Cleaned out the oil and material from cooling chamber, removed the original screen from the mouthpiece and cut down a cooling pad to fit in the screens place nicely. Now I get really large clouds of vapor (no more filtering my vapor through the material clog on the high-way to the mouthpiece ;)..), and I can tell when its finally finished. Now I just hope this liquid pad "screen" will do the job and keep most of the material out of the cooling chamber and after a bit I can just pop that screen out, clean it or vaporize whats in there.

I was so medicated last night after those adjustments I was having a bit of anxiety. Time to relearn my tolerance.

Hey FC, never posted here before.

The only vape I've ever owned is a Solo and although I like it a lot, I do have some major gripes. The solo is portable but not pocketable, due largely to the big glass stem. The glass stem also made transportation a pain in the ass, I had to carry around a separate container for it. Also, the bottom plate of the vape has chipped away considerably, and I really haven't been that rough with it. I can't speak much on the vapor quality since I've never tried any other vape, but I loved using it and largely prefer it to smoking. Besides that, I love the long battery, premium feel in hand, and ease of use. it served me well passing it around friends and of course by myself.

Now there's been much innovation since then and I've narrowed my search down to two contenders for an upgrade: the Crafty and the considerably less expensive but equally interesting Goboof Alfa. Given Storz & Bickel's reputation, I have no doubt that the Crafty has superior vapor quality. But is it the better vape? Is it $200 better than other candidates? How about that lackluster battery life? Does it make up for the battery life in the ability to get you absolutely ripped? Will it fare well in a group of friends? Has anyone tried both or have any suggestions for me?

Any help is appreciated, thanks fam. :)

Battery is probably the biggest con. It just isn't gonna give you those long sessions you get on your solo where you can sip on it and contemplate things.

It does however get you medicated and I would say it does it faster than the solo, as in less number of drwas. Great for passing amongst friends, since there is no draw resistance there is notuch of a learning curve.

I was wondering if anybody could give me a quick breakdown on pros/cons (if you have owned both of these units of course) of the Crafty vs Arizer Solo. Thanks in advance!

Oh, and VapeKush, just FYI-- the new Arizer Air came out

Welcome to FC vape kush.

The solo and tet's Cera loose leaf are my only two portables other then the Mighty (exact same performance as the Crafty). The Solo is a nice vape but just can't medicate me on its own but is very nice for sipping after a few dabs. The Cera LL was nice but jumping through hoops is not my thing and makes it useless in a group.

I chose the Mighty over the crafty because of the longer battery life due to it having two 18650 batteries over the Crafty's single and I am glad I did. At first I thought the Crafty paired with a big external battery would be fine but I need more then 3-4 bowls on a charge for session vaping with company, the mighty will do 8-10 bowls plus if needed the charger provides more power then the unit needs to charge while plugged in. However I would not call the Mighty Stealth if that is what is needed from a portable for you.

The performance of the Mighty/Crafty is excellent. Dialing the temp you want to use for a strain or effects is excellent. The Mighty actually gets me high from flower which is excellent for me, I don't pull oils out until the kids are in bed anymore. The cooling chamber works really well, although I prefer to pull it through water if going over 400f but under I would not consider the vapor hot when hitting off the mouth piece under 400f. Hooking it up to water is easy, silicon tubing and a gong and good to go but I love the custom setup posted on here where a cooling chamber was modded to be a gong setup.

Arizer Air ithread is worth reading through. Just a portable Solo with a single replaceable 18650 battery, no other real changes that I have read so far. $400/$469 is not for everybody is why I mention it.

I received my Pax back from another repair/replacement a few days ago. Didn't even care if it ever arrived. Forgot about her. Put her down and forgot about her since the Crafty. Fire-what? That's been dormant even longer!

It's all in the reflexes.
I want to share my cleaning technique. I tried using iso with a qtip and the brush. Was getting clean but not brand new clean. So here's what I did. Some iso in a ziplock sandwhich bag with some salt. Took the cooling unit apart and put the pieces in the bag(no o rings. Not sure how they'd react to this). Left some air in the bag. Seal it up and shake like crazy. Rinse with water. Dry with hair dryer. Clean as new. It's also fast and you don't get stuff on your hands.

great way to clean without a mess. would it possible to get reclaim from the cleaning unit that way?
