Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud EVO

I can certainly understand the fear of leaving it unattended considering these reports. I just wanted to state I got my Evo on Valentine's day and it has run daily from 7am to 10pm nonstop. I manually reset it after each shutoff. I leave it unattended 30 of the 45 minutes its on as like now. Youll see more testimonies of problems once they arise, its seldom at these times people give prositive testimonials. It's probably due to the fact those with praise are too busy enjoying there's.

Doesn't it almost seem more concerning that this is happening to evos even though the auto-off is intact? If you leave your Evo unattended an hour at the very most of idling shouldn't lead to meltdown, as you say you re-switch it on fairly regularly so you at least are paying attention to it the majority of the time.

The Auto shutoff isn't gonna help in a meltdown - a few minutes of the heater running full blast is enough to do it.

(Speculation based on my evo that went meltdown: ) It's not a matter of the unit staying at the right temp and heat accumulating over time, it's a matter of the heater not knowing what temp it's at, so it just keeps pumping out the heat as if you'd just switched on the unit.

Yup, even though the heater stays solid green, it's really switching on and off constantly, keeping the temp +/- a degree or two.

Think of how fast it warms up... that's the full power of the heater, and just imagine if it didn't stop heating up at green... :o

... Boom Shiva !
Vapefiend is supposed to have the 220V version out by December before Christmas.Lets hope this time its confirmed.

Hopefully will have a sublimator by then and see how it compares to my now defunct ebay fakexhale cloud and VHW 3.0, the Cloud ripped when it actually worked, most satisfactory high and taste i have ever experienced.

well all in all sounds like there might be a design problem if the internal temps are too high it might melt the solder and cause problems like some folks are seeing.

I just spent $140 on cloud accessories the day before I see more scary cloud news :/

What concerns me is that if this is a design/PCB problem....then what? Are they going to recall/fix every single cloud? Or just the ones who experience meltdowns?

I've not heard of melt-down problems (aside from International). These seem to be corner cases; if it were even remotely common (in N. American units) we would be seeing a helluva lot of posts about it here. Pure speculation, but I've been wondering for some time with the international units whether the problem is not actually in the firmware. That's where the heat regulation is controlled. If it were a matter of a flaw in the sensor or circuit design, ordinarily that would be resolved fairly quickly. Firmware OTOH can be very complex and difficult (and very expensive) to debug.

I felt the same way until I saw that @Been Vapin is listed as in the USA on his profile.

I'm still confident enough to keep using it and leave it plugged in, I just don't want to leave it running while I'm away...not that I ever did that anyway.

I'd be weary of "preheating" using those belkin remote power jacks or whatever it was people were using. I just think its good practice to be in the same room as a relatively exposed super high power heater. That is before factoring in the VERY slim chance of thermonuclear war happening.

I don't think my cloud is likely to melt down, but TBH I'll probably be using it just for oil soon anyway with my quartz VXN and the tubing kit to hook it up to my rig on the way.

Got my quartz VXN and my adapter kit. Used it once on my oil rig with powerful results.

The nails aren't cut the same, but both are good. One is a wider opening, the other is shorter. One is mine and one was ordered for a friend. Both work the same just interesting.

I think the quartz is a HUGE improvement over glass. Threw a dab in the bottom and heated it with the torch to season it. Torching the quartz VXN clean will be a HUGE benefit for me.

What temps do people use the quartz vxn with. I want to experiment, but I can only do so many dabs...

I've found great results at 10 & 12 on the dial.
Start with a slow draw, and turn off the EVO when the bamboo switches to red, until you are done and ready to clean it (mine often won't even turn red when I'm hitting it on 10.. just stays green until I'm done).

Is there any reason to get a glass nail in addition to the quartz?

I've read a person refer to it as a 'shotgun' type of effect and was curious if this was the general consensus or if the quartz nails are sufficient in that area?

What do you mean by that? I've only tried a few, but so far my quartz seems to beat my glass in every way.

Just what I read in this thread while skimming (quickly) through it. The quartz seems like the better option to me personally, but I'm curious if the experience is different enough that having both types is necessary and/or ideal.

The VapeXhale sale is still going on for another 3 hours so I'll keep poking around the thread for now, but
without a compelling reason to use the glass I believe I'll just stick to the quartz for now, thanks.

Really liking my quartz VXN and hooking it up to my spine oil rig. The torch is nervously sitting in the corner. Probably never to be used again at home.

Anyone have any input on where I might be able to source ceramic "disks" to drop into a VXN? I think it would take them to the next level.

where can i get my hands on a pump like the one shown in this youtube video? and how much would it run me?

Well the referenced herbie costs north of $700. The pump sounds like an aquarium pump you could get at Petsmart for less than $30. You'll need some tubing.

The nail is certainly missing some sort of wicking system. Without it, were advised to burn off the bottom residuals, causing 2nd and 3rd hand smoke.

Burning the bottom of the nail is the main reason I don't use concentrates/the vxn too often, as that's the last piece of the puzzle in fucking-combustion. We need to get rid of this step.

Possible wicks are; Ti whool, ceramic disc, fritted disc
