If you have the PO, or a friend forward it to Birmingham you might still be able to enjoy a wow factor with your friend.

Amsterdam. You are one smiling dude.

PS if purchased from a UK seller, to charge you duties seems redundant.

other then the batter being week.. I haven't noticed anything wrong with this cape! Its been amazing!!! Never combusted!! No matter hoe much I tried to light up the herb over and over again it never let me get out of hand like its got some kinda of controls so you don't combust. Its also a GREAT VAPE FOR CONSERVING!!! That's one of the main reasons I got the vape. I never saw it pointed out on reviews. The bowl is small because that's how it should be.. I had big bowl vapes and they only work if u fill all the way up. With my firefly a little pinch will work a full chamber will work also. The firefly is the EASIEST VAPE TO CLEAN. I mean thee top comes off and you can see the whole air path.. No more poking in areas u can't see.

Also here's a FUN FACT about this cape. I forgot the name of the CEO but he use to work for apple.

Random question. Any body here play destiny on Xbox one? Add me. GAMESharrk

I'm buying this vape solely based on this glorious post. Thanks, kayaman!

I would do that but I'm only going for three four days so knowing my luck, I'll get back to London and it'll be in Birmingham now haha.

Yeh friends wanted to go for New Year but there's no way I can leave my restaurant New year time, plus the costs reduce DRAMATICALLY. More money for the herb :)

Yeh there's no way they could try and charge me custom duty because I never asked for it to be shipped from USA, worst case, I'll just tell them to take it back if they try to ask me for any extra fees, but I very much doubt they'd do that.

I'm still very surprised about the price of a replacement battery and its low capacity. If I like this vape, I'm definitely getting a replacement, just not sure if its worth buying an external battery charger though.

Well, Grover, looks like a fast forward for XMass season, aye? The FF should be a new reason to celebrate, keep the positive side.

You should not have to pay tax twice, that is unreasonable.

The way some members described the FF to me, with it carrying minimal odour, amazing taste and easy to maintain, I'm looking forward to it even more. I guess the wait will be worth it. And I'm definitely not paying a penny extra on top of what I've already paid

I must be the lightest of the lightweight users on the FF thread, because a battery will last me all day, except for my original battery, which is one year old, but still works well enough at home.

I've also become a master at using power only when I need it. Comes with time and practice. At this point, I don't think I ever use any battery life that I'm not truly using.

11 months now and still rockin' the same FF.

For such a premium device, I think you just have to go all out and get the external charger. It's too convenient to pass up. Hell, I even have an extra power supply so I can charge two batts at once, if need be.

I love my FF as much as ever, and don't regret any pennies I've spent on it. It sure as shit ain't perfect, but I think it still offers a vaping experience that no other vape on the market can currently offer, including the ESV. I realize I may be one of the few grandmasters of the FF, but god damn... you should see the clouds I can get, for how long into the session, for how little battery usage. Keep training, and your qualms may just disappear...

Although I certainly can't defend @mitchgo61's situation. That's just ridiculous. But kudos for sticking with it. I think I can at least understand why you do... ;)

What baffles me is that @lwien still doesn't have one... Seems like it was meant for him...

I've also noticed that one of my batteries will start to show red.... but will keep working if I push it to keep working. Sometimes as many as 6 more 30-second hits. When your light shows red, try taking more hits, and see if it's a faulty reading.

Well, the FF folks have been very good to me. I never pay shippng and they've always been fast and friendly. Hell, I've got it down to a system...get a new FF, only remove the unit and battery, keep both boxes handy near some packing tape...I have several chargers around the house now so I don't even remove the new one. And silver lining, I always send back my oldest battery, so I'm recycling out my batts each time. And hey, each new FF brings the golden promise: this is THE ONE. The thing is, they work perfectly until they stop, and for those three or six months I'm not worried about failure. I'm just used to it now and FF makes it painless, god love 'em.

But hey, who really needs to eat breakfast or lunch?

Me, after depleting a full battery on the FF.

All day? You are the master. I love the FF, but find I need two extra batteries and the charging dock to feel secure for a night of fun. I love the device, and you will save money on how economical it is with your product, but you should factor in the additional cost of extra batteries when buying the FF

I could not agree with you more, I'm f'in amazed at the clouds I can get with so little herb and so little work. I didn't always feel this way about the amount of work it took, but I do now. Simply no effort required is how I would describe my vape sessions with the FF.

Between my FF and my E-nano, I have the BEST of both worlds. My only problem is deciding which to use. Most times the situation will dictate which one to use, but they are both so AWESOME that I really hate to choose.

So I got in touch with DHL again to be informed that parcel had been declared as 'documents' in USA rather than 'goods' and the declared value was 1200 euros, which just baffles me but that was apparently the reason for the hold up at customs after the paperwork and item obviously mismatched. So the parcel was finally delivered to the Ireland hub tonight and is now in the East Midlands facility leaving for London hopefully tonight and at my place tomorrow.

I must say all this waiting and unnecessary hassle has made me lose my excitement so really hoping the FF makes it all up. Looking forward to it :)

Idk what you are using at the moment @Gee_Grover, but I recieved my FF last week and it was definitely worth it. I was using my HA 2.2 before, and the taste of the FF is up there with the desktop vapes. Plus it conserves SO much materials

:o Now that's a story!

I decided to get a Firefly over the new Arizer Air, I remember I sold my Solo because the vapor was too light, and I'm really impressed with the design:
jtcn.jpg

Five T6 screws remove the top plate.

hbq2.jpg

Closer view of the inside.

3zfq.jpg

Glass bowl lifts right out, as does the metal plate at the bottom of the bowl. The whole bowl assembly is held together by pressure from the top plate. None of these gaskets are attached, so should be easy to replace if need be, though I don't see why you would need to. The gasket around the screen keeps material out of the inside of the device. I had a little bit of material built up there under the bottom edge of the bowl that had been stopped by the gasket, but that doesn't seem to influence functionality. Doesn't get hot enough there to worry about combustion.

m5ha.jpg

Next that white plate comes out, exposing the heating coil. All the white bits here feel like ceramic, or could just be a different type of (seriously) high-temperature glass.

Since I'm not willing to bend any of the wiring for the heating coil, three T5 screws holding in the circuit board need to be removed next, then it lifts right out.
lc84.jpg

Close up of the top of the board. Judging by the version number (2.93) on the board, they went though a hell of a lot of revisions to get this right.

96qw.jpg

And the bottom of the board. You can see the battery connection in the middle there, power switch is at the bottom left, and heating button is on the top.

I can't even imagine what type of metal the heating coil is made of to be able to withstand 50 watts running through it, rapid heat cycling, and such high temperatures in ambient air. Like I said before, light bulbs flame out in seconds without an inert gas protecting them.

...My biggest annoyance is when combustion happens the smell will stay there forever... Is there any way at all to fully clean the firefly to get rid of that smell or am I screwed?

One of my two Fireflys burns hotter than the other one, and has combusted a few times when I try to push it too hard or pack it too tightly. But I have found that after additional sessions and cleanings (including wiping the bowl with an iso pad), the burned smell does fade to nothing. Which allows full appreciation of vapor taste again.

(I am indeed referring to combustion, not just pyrolysis. Combustion is when the herb turns bright red within the bowl, instead of only the bowl turning red.)

I wish this forum thread had a sub-thread on Firefly combustion, so that FF combustion experiences and solutions could be compared and discussed more easily, instead of scattered throughout thousands of messages.

I'm using the Solo right now and happy with it. FF is just a second unit that my VAS made me buy and if everyone's right about it not leaking much odour then it'll be my secret bedroom vape for late night sessions.

Just received a text to say its been delivered. So DHL aren't so bad after all once they their shit together. I need to find out whether it was GreenVapes fault for declaring it as documents not goods or DHL. I'm assuming the GV people? as they've sent the parcel?

I wonder if the "self-extinguishing combustion" that I've experienced with my ff could be called pyrolysis. I kinda doubt it, but I end up with a small dark spot in the middle of the bowl if I push my ff too hard as you've described. It has never fully combusted, probably more like a filament in a light bulb than anything else but interesting nonetheless. I would say my unit is somewhere in-between your two, heater-wise.

I was stuck between the solo and the FF before getting the latter all due to convection. I know the solo is some kind of hybrid of the 2, but it is a session vape. It really all depends on preference. I like to sit around, take a hit, play my guitar then repeat (session vapes make me anxious haha). There is no smell with the FF due to its convection heating, and you can be done with a bowl in 5-6 hits if you like that

Is the combustion a heaters issue or a drawing issue? I get little black edges, but I know I'm getting it because of my drawing technique. I find that shaking it or giving it a little stir fixes it for me.

I'm still working with technique to preserve battery life. I'm finding that having a light touch with the trigger helps a lot. would you mind describing your technique in some detail? I would greatly appreciate it.

That doesn't really sound like FF combustion...more like minor charring, which is not unusual. When your FF truly combusts, smoke will pour out of it, the port window will get blackened, and you'll smell smoke two rooms away.

Is the combustion a heaters issue or a drawing issue? I get little black edges, but I know I'm getting it because of my drawing technique. I find that shaking it or giving it a little stir fixes it for me.

If you get real combustion (see above), it will be a fault of the device, and won't be avoidable via technique changes. The charring you describe can be avoided by changes in grind, density of packing, and drawing/heat button technique.

This sounds about right, just a hot spot really.
It was my herbalizer that did the self-extinguishing combustion a couple of times.

Well I can tell you what works for me. Kinda hard to truly explain because it’s more like a “natural oneness” now and I feel as though I’m just doing “what feels right,” as opposed to using a “technique.” Whatever the case, it happens to lead to light battery usage, it seems.

It’s all about timing, timing, timing (and additional timing). And a light touch on the trigger will sure go a long way as well. And of course, extra frosty herbs sure do help…

This is my manner of usage when using ground material.

I do almost zero preheat. The moment before I know the heater is going to begin glowing, I put the FF to my soft, pillowy lips because I know the heater will be ready for me by the time I start inhaling.

With ground material, my hit is pretty slow at first to let the heater get/stay caught up, then faster as it reaches full operational heat, and then I maintain this speed if early on in the bowl, or slow down a bit as the bowl progresses. This all happens very quickly.

I don’t ever lean on the button for the full 30 seconds until near the end of the bowl. Mine are more like 10 or 12 seconds overall, including the pseudo-warmup. IME, there is a significant couple/few seconds of residual heat after you release the button that can help you continue your hit, and should be put to advantage.

If near the end of the bowl, I do wait longer before I start inhaling, and I will also break from inhaling for a couple seconds, then inhale again, then break, etc., for a full 30 seconds. Using this method at the end, my ABV gets to about as dark as I’d want it to – to push it any further would mean I’d probably want some water to hit through, so that’s when I dump it out and save it to hit through the HI, these days. I'm a convection-only sort of guy now.

With a FF battery, every second of usage really counts. Something to keep in mind.

I think the real key here is controlling the level/speed of inhalation so that you don’t have to lean on the battery as much. I’ve said it before and I stand by it now – that when you’re learning, or training for better battery life, exhale next to a spotlight if you can. It really helped me get a better idea in the beginning of how much vapor I was actually creating as opposed to just depending on natural light or basic overhead lights.

I always end up with quite even ABV. As even as say using my HI. I usually stir it once, if using ground material.

The FF is really just a wonderful vape that syncs up perfectly with my style of usage. We were made for each other. Well, it was made for me, anyway.

And, when it comes down to it, I just don’t take nearly as many hits as the other regular posters here, it seems. Best not to forget that. I’m a total lightweight. Use about 0.25g per day, often less, never more. And I’m medicated all day, from the moment I wake up to the moment I stumble drunkenly to bed.

When away from home and using the FF, I usually vape only three bowls worth, with battery to spare.

If I have forgotten anything or you’d like some clarification, let me know. I’m pretty blitzed right now. I’ll probably add to it tomorrow.

And don't forget that it seems just about all FF users use theirs a bit differently...

Placed an order at the black friday rate and will soon be joining the family. Been a long time since I got a new vape. Several years. But i think the FF has an obvious need and place in my vaporizer lineup. More to come.

How about with concentrates? I mean now that Calif home-made waxes and oils are apparently da rage this post-harvest time o' year, judging by the muffled sound of butane esplosions up and down the block. So the question du night is: do you put the concentrate on the liquid-pad or under the pad? Sounds like the sock smell issue, but it's not. Both ways work. But the bottom way is hotter so it's a more couch-locky effect. Nothing wrong with BOTH. I suppose you could even turn the pad, over-easy.

More "life in the FireFly lane". Has anyone painted a phone keypad on their FF yet? That's a solid stealth. Pace up and down outside, or just sit down in the confessional, hold it up to the ear, and carry on a conversation as you vape. Like "Oh, (SIGH), is that you, aunt Ethel, i'm surprised (GASP - COUGH!!!)". Pursing the lips sideways is an acquired skill. Having the keypad painted on might help.
