Did any of you who ordered from overseas recieve a tracking number?
Mine says shipped on the website but I have no tracking nr.
Oh well, if not it will make the arrival extra festive
Hey @Belgianvapor
I placed my order yesterday and just got an email from Canada Post(<onotreply@canadapost.postescanada.ca)with a tracking number so I would expect this to be the case for all international orders, maybe this went to your spamfolder?

@CentiZen
Thanks a lot for the early pictures, review and information on the battery!

HI all, I'm on the fence between a Davinci Ascent and the Arizer Air. Both are on sale until 11:59 tonight. I do like being able to quickly turn off and put away (my Pax) in my pocket while on the street, so my questions are
1) Does the short glass stem on the AA still get very hot to the touch?
2)How easy is it to dump and refill?
3) Do you have to wait for the stem to cool off? (Imagine putting it away right after a hit)

Any further comparisons between Dv Ascent and AA would be most welcome, thank you!

@CentiZen any specific type charger you would suggest since it's not some special battery? I'm not really wanting to wait a couple weeks to be able to externally charge my 3 batteries. TIA

Didn't get a tracking number but the message I got from arizer said mine should be here Thursday at the latest.... I've got my fingers crossed!

Edit- have you had a chance to try it with a pvhes?? Interested to hear about the airflow difference and cloud production To see if the new heater can keep up

Concentrates can mess with tolerance so it depends on how much you use, but they do work incredibly well when you need to be discrete. It sounds like they are using O-Pens with the disposable C02 oil carts. That was my first pen years ago. Their CO2 oil almost never tasted good but it was very easy. At times too convenient as you say; which is why I don't do much concentrates at home. The beauty of the wax pen is how easy it is to load and go, but I definitely understand the negatives.

no they don't get theirs from clubs either...it comes in a 10cc(?) syringe (not totally full) and they are supposed to dab a drop in their own carts themselves. G-pens sound more familiar to me than O-pens for some reason, but you may be right about the name...ill ask next time.

did you ever feel like there was a thick oily cloud that just coats your insides when you pull it? like the vapors recondense all over your throat (thats what she said)? it could have been in my head, but thats what it felt like. i don't think i was ever lucky enough to meet up and try their stuff on a fresh load (i always caught up with them in the middle of a cartridge) but i never quite liked the taste compared to dry.

just popped into my head: when was the last time you guys ever used or even thought about the essential vaap? most stealthiest vape ever!??! really wonder why they ever moved away from that concept?

how far vapes have come...

alright about to pull the trigger on a black arizer air for real now. i must say, though, the pics on pg. 13ish of the silver one looked way better than i thought...it almost looked "space gray" like an iPhone...i bet that titanium color is gonna be sweet.

gonna pay with a new credit card promo so i can get some cashish back & subsidize my vape bills!

That's hard to say since most haven't used this. My ascent is ok, same level as pax. I believe this will prob be better based on the solo

@OF so what your saying is it may not work as proficiently if the restriction at the stem end was lessened? Makes sense.

I'm going to try using my PVHES in the Air tonight, I think that's the best test of high airflow I have the means to do at the moment. I'll be home from work around 6:00, will update shortly after that.

Hmm this and the dragonfly are both $200 for black friday... does anyone have both to comment on vapor flavor?

I don't own a FF but I have used one. It probably has a leg up on the flavor, even if only because of the extra convection effect. Not by much though.

That sure sounds like a step backwards from Solo. Longer recharge times to get fewer sessions per recharge? I suspect serious users are going to migrate to external charging and several batteries?

Part of the compromises, of course.

OF

I'm not too caught up about it since I imagine the times given are for a dead to 100% charged battery. Li-ion battery chargers will taper the charge current as it gets closer and closer to capacity. This means that charging from 0 to ~80% will be relatively fast, and then that last 10 - 20% will take a disproportional amount of time longer as the charge current tapers down.

Still, I've already found myself wanting to swap batteries instead of charging, I think that is going to be the way I end up using it most often.

one question:

does it has any battery indication, blinking/colored led ....etc?

I'll get back to you on that

And now onto the Air - I share the community's excitement about his product. I almost pulled the trigger on it, but I can't decide - Silver or Black?

All the cool kids have silver!!

Tracking and international parcels with CP is strange. Some places the Xpresspost charges are normal and you'll get tracking, other places the shipping with tracking is prohibitively expensive.

You wouldn't want to touch the end that just came out, but the mouthpiece does not seem to get very hot past the part that's in the heater. It's as easy to dump and fill as normal Arizer stems, really - maybe a little more difficult if you use the herb sucking method since there is less airflow. I put the mouthpiece right in my pocket after taking it out no problems.

Any further comparisons between Dv Ascent and AA would be most welcome, thank you!

I think it's night and day to compare the two. What I will say is that the Air is the one I would actually pay money for.

The nitecore chargers that were recommended above are great options. I don't think you'll find anything better in that price range. PVHES update coming once home from work.

lookhigh- I'm not sure what you mean; did I do something wrong?

Don't sweat it man, I'm sure he was just joking around.

The cell, by the way is 2600mAh, 3.3 - 4.2v and has a discharge current of ~2A.

Seriously? While it's nice to see it's a protected cell and all that current is a problem? Solo draws about 2 Amps when heating, but at twice the voltage. Meaning Solo is producing twice the power (heat) at t he same current. To match Solo at 3.7 Volts you'd need to draw 4 Amps, not two, right????

If you guys are looking for a charger , you cannot go wrong with the Nitecore intellicharger , i have had mine for a few years and it does almost every type of battery including 18650's , they are on sale on amazon for $16 today and even cheaper if you need 1 that does less than 4 batteries at a time - http://www.amazon.com/Nitecore-IntelliCharger-i4-Battery-Charger/dp/B005UAI372/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417465406&sr=8-1&keywords=nitecore charger

wow that looks like a good price and good reviews. i could probably use that for the NiMHs i have around the house...

anyways, just placed my order for the black air. $199.99 no tax & no shipping. thats what I'm talking about! good luck to those waiting for a deal from randy or the other vape sponsors. i hope i don't regret buying from arizer in a few weeks! its so nice to be done with vape research since I've already submitted my payment! for me it was this or the goboof alpha but i read a few posts on there that made me go with the seasoned vet instead.

now to get rid of a few vapes. it might take me until after finals to put up pics & stuff but ill probably do it in the classifieds if anyone wants to convince a friend of theirs to stop smoking for the new years & get a deal on a used vape from an FCer (with a bunch of extras I'm sure).

yeah it is a really nice charger and it kind of balances the cells in the battery also. Highly recommend it you cant go wrong esp at that price. Please post up some info on the air when you get it as i am def interested and also what vape's are you thinking of selling ? if price is right i may be able to help you. Just start a private conversation with me here so we don't mess up this thread. Thanks

Yeah I'm pretty tempted by Silver this time too (even more so by the hypothetical Titanium...), but I'm probably gonna have to go with basic black for stealthiness reasons I guess...

And thanks @Justpassedu for the charger link! Now I won't have to wait for Arizer's (and maybe this one is even better?) I probably don't need to do 4 at once, so this one is the same for two yes? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00KL9DGD8?psc=1
Price is almost the same even! Maybe this would work for the two 2500mah Samsung 18650s I just bought for the xmax as well?!
I'll wait for @CentiZen's own examination and ruling whether or not the batteries themselves would work in the Air though, wouldn't want to risk voiding the warranty knowing next to nothing about batts myself...

Just got my slip to pick it up finally. Going to the post office now. I have a bit of a busy night ahead of me but my review will be forthcoming.

Does anyone know if it works off pass thru with no battery attached? Would help me get my review done sooner.

Things I'm gonna cover
  • Ceramic bowl solo (M104) vs Air w/ air stem, Solo bent stem, JoDa dry stem, PV GonG and JoDa 18mm.
  • Video comparison of M104 vs Air w/ GonG thru my SOV Stemline
  • General air vs. solo things
  • Battery info, hopefully measure electrical draw, etc
  • Hopefully a physical teardown and rebuild!
@CentiZen I feel the same way about arizer's response to the battery question. I have pressed Arizer in the past on battery related things with the Solo and they do definitely tend to do the "simple explanation" for us. I assuemd this was why they took the description of 18650 battery off the product page, so people wouldn't throw in whatever they have and fuck it up.

But I do honestly think it is possible to use other cells with it and I hope to get a little experience with the unit and figure why they used the battery they did. When I understand the workings of the Air a little more I hope to try it with some other high quality cells as I don't see any reason this can't work with a nicer 18650.

Even if @CentiZen posts his own conclusions on the battery situation, I still plan to do it myself. if we both come to similar conclusions i would be happy!!!
