first impression, wow. If you were going to buy a persei I would suggest you look at the 8.

There are other considerations. Gary is reluctant to offer tech support if the 8 stops operating. And for someone who only intends on using w9 601 carts and/or just the sr74, IMHO the persei would just amount to less frustration in the long run.

Just looking back at older posts, will the batteries that came with my (older) persei work for the herc sr74? If not, which ones should I buy?

Need some help guys!

I have two Persei's purchased from W9 less than a month ago. I also have two SR-71s that are very new. They have been champs and I love them but all of a sudden they are starting to blink very frequently trying to use them. If I greatly loosen them up or keep adjusting them on the persei it seems to help. What is the deal here? Why is this happening and how do I get these back to the way they were? I used to be able to just put on the SR-71 and snug it on. Now it feels like they have to be almost falling off to work properly. What is going on and how do I fix this?

I've experienced the same issue and was told it was from over tightening. Not sure how to fix. I think the v 4 top will eliminate.

So I've got an sr74 on the way, and ordered an extra rod for it. Got the black one (3.7v) since it comes a 7.4v rod. When I first clean, then assemble, which rod should I install? Which would be the best for a first time herc user?

Also, I need to order some AW batteries and an volt reader. Also going to add the Ti Gr2 rebuild kit to rebuild the 3 dead kiss carts I have. Was trying to think what else I should order, considering I already have 2 packages on the way lol. Would the SS kit add to my experience? Or should I order a Hammer top, since my persei does not have circuit protection? It's the model that came with the original extract cartidges and the double top if that helps.

*In regards to the Kiss Rebuild Kit:What exactly are the "Kiss Couplers"? And what is the difference between the Ti Wire, and non resistance wire?

check diehard's post about rebuilding a kiss cart. It should have answers for you.

edit: My v3 persei top has trouble firing my 3.7v globe and kiss (havent tried 3.7v herc) with an aw 18350. Gary told me a long aw 18650 battery should fix my problems. So a ss kit for a short stealthy persei might not work well and be frustrating.

I have an order "awaiting fulfillment". Can I add more stuff to this order, instead of doing another separate order?

I saw somewhere about testing the sr74/71 w. a multi meter to set it up right...

can I use a harbor freight one instead of the w9 one ?? I work at harbor freight so that options free for me..

First time Herc users will probably be better off starting with 7.4v. IMO
Resistance wire does not heat up. Kiss couplers are to join the Ti wire and non-resistance wire together.

I'd love to see a quick writeup or tutorial for testing with a meter. I've read the manuals... do I just use the same probe points as voltage?

Danke!

Here's some pics that show testing a rebuilt KISS and an Assembled Herc SR.-71 with my Fluke meter. The probe leads should be plugged into V and COM.

I just bought the omicron light and love the kiss cart 3.7. It's great for smoother hits. Is Persei the best option to run the kiss 7.4? I want some stronger hits.

YES! Make sure it is a 7.4v KISS

hey there, wondering if anyone has directly compared the hercules to the kiss cartridges in terms of efficiency? which is better at conserving one's material? I seem to have read some conflicting things in the thread, so hoping to get a definitive answer. Thanks.

What is this V4 top you speak of? How do I get this? Kind of frustrated that I just bought two persei's and they both have problems consistently working unless the SR71s are practically falling off.

V4 is the next version Persei top set to be released. Touch button. Hammer function included. 5 click on/off.
IIRC @THC SCIENTIFIC said they were in production and almost ready.

You might also consider a Persei + core and just dial up the voltage on a 3.7v cart. I honestly find that while the 7.4v KISS cart on a Persei gets you blasted it just is too harsh. When you use the 7.4v KISS cart be sure to just tap the button on for a second at a time. Really short pulses till you have the desired cloud.

For 7.4v the Herc is king!
