@serial-puffer : yes the anodizing (or powder coating?) is relatively thin. I have a couple of scratches where the aluminium shows through. In a way the full alu color version should be the most resistant in the long term as it's alreay grey...

Has anyone come across any Black Friday deals from a retailer who carries the flowermate? I know it's already a good deal but if there's something out ther, I would love to take advantage.

Puffitup but they are out of stock.

I managed to loose my stir rod and top slide door both this week...watched the slide door fall off and into the snow, maybe I'll find it this spring

I like this little guy but how hard is it to make a door that won't fall off?

Get it straight from smiss on alibaba , it's the best deal!
I've gotten quotes from a handful of alibaba sellers, including Smiss. I've always found a better price at dhgate.com, for U.S. buyers anyway.

Very hard, when it's designed like this one. The plastic piece isn't the problem IMO. It has to slide back and forth and still remain secure, with only the base of the housing to hold it on, so the plastic can get caught on something and get lifted, or the housing can get banged, compromising the fit that has to be just right for both security and 'slideability'. They probably could have made a lip on the bottom of the housing to keep the plastic secure, but it might have also made production more difficult/costly, and you've got the same setup on the top, so one end or the other is going to be compromised. Face it, it's a cheap vape, so something's gotta give. As long as I've got one cover (for the top), I'm OK, and even that's not essential-just keep the mouthpiece on when loaded. As for the stir/tamping tool, I've never used it. Even the screens can be replaced with standard ss screens.

It was the top door of mine that fell off. It has been falling off since the first time I unloaded the vapormax.

They should have taken the money they used to give us the pot leaf graphic on the sides and used it to make a better door design.

Again I do like the vapormax. I can deal with a lost stir rod. Using a nail now and the bigger head makes a better puck.

But losing that door is harder to deal with. I don't like having the mouthpiece in all the time for several reasons the biggest one is that messed up the system I had for using it.

Anyone thinking of buying a vapormax should be aware of these drawbacks.

I think it would have been more like a whole different housing, since I don't see any way to keep the slider piece always sliding and always secure without changing the design. At least if you don't lose it, it goes back on without much trouble.

I had the covers fall off my FM5 many times. In looking for an alternative vape I found the Atmos Transporter which seems to have Flowermate guts. The Transporter also has its bowl on the bottom which solves the other annoyance of the FM5 which is a clogged mouth piece.

I was going to get the FM5s and now I am thinking that the Transporter would be a better choice.

Thoughts?

The transporter looks cool although the price puts it in range of many well founded vapes...

Hopefully someone will put a video of it up soon

We had very mild weather yesterday and a lot of the snow melted...I'm going to take another look for my top and maybe I'll get lucky

Its $90 on eBay. I found 2 video reviews and a couple of write ups. All positive.

i did too , but it wasn't too high, the cover fell out, and the inside shifted a little out, I pushed it back in, it still works fine, how high did you drop it

Personally, I will avoid anything Atmos. Unlike Smiss, the company has never shown that they're interested in producing a quality product. I think the FM is a better value as well, available for over 30% less $.

Hello forum,

New FC member, but not new to vaping. I recently have taken an interest in this vape(adjustable temp model)and want to make a purchase but PIU is sold out and that is my usual site. Is there another place I could purchase this at a fair price?

Max, normally I would agree with you but the Transporter is actually a rebranded FM product so it doesn't "act" like an Atmos product.

If you have issue with Atmos regarding their ethical choices well I can understand that too but based on performance alone I like the performance of the Transporter better than the FM 5.

Having the oven on the bottom makes a big difference for herb not getting clogged up in the mouthpiece and the longer vapor path also makes for a bit more comfortable vapor. I also like the size of the Transporter (getting into Pax territory) but I hate that it looks like a flask.

I would never pay full retail ($165) for the Transporter but if you could find it around $80-100 it would be something to consider. JMO

If you get too much herb on the mouthpiece then you don't compact the load enough and/or you grind too fine, and if you get a rising puck then you are surely drawing too hard.

My mouthpiece screen gets clogged over time, but with oil/resin only. I wipe it with some toilet paper right after use while it's still hot. This avoids me having to do the complete ISO wash too often.

For the Tranporter, I haven't tested it but if it doesn't clog the mouthpiece then it must clog the bowl screen instead (if it's reversed compared to the FM5, then it must work like the FM8 with the vapor getting sucked at the "top" of the bowl) Anyways, all vapes need to be cleaned and the FM5 is relatively trivial to maintain compared to some others.

I'll ask my contact if it's really a OEM production for Atmos, but I was under the impression Atmos produced their own products.

For the loose sliders please re-read the thread, the solution has been discussed several times: just apply some pressure on the alu shell borders and you can get them as fit as you want (last time I did the trick they were even too hard to move for my liking...) If they get loose again, rinse and repeat.

You are probably right about packing it down. I used the tamping tool but really didn't pack it down (ala Pax style).

At this point it's a non-issue for me since I just gave my FM 5 to my father-in-law. I will let him know though, so thank you.

Check with your contact on the V7. You can see this is just like the Atmos Transporter and here is a company in NZ selling the FM variety....

http://www.vapemate.co.nz/products/atmos-transporter-flowermate-vapormax-v7

I actually like the FM style better because the top and bottom is color matched instead of black plastic like the Atmos.

Ok sorry to be so off topic. I'm done now mods! :)
