Yes, I posted as much a while back.
IMO not a useful test unless one has both in hand to compare, and even then you need a sample of each type. I suggest the 'plug the charger in while it's heating' test instead since that can be done without a reference.
Because it's an entirely different application. Energy density (in power per pound, not power per cubic foot) is the driving factor, over cost, long life or other issues. They too are looking for 'attractive numbers' to make their sales.
FWIW I understand 2400s are 'coming of age' in this application, I expect that means a slow shift over from 2200s to 2400s is coming. A lot of 'big money' in the application.
Granted custom packs for special cases can (and do) make sense, but for the general cases I think it's hard to go wrong with OEM packs, they've put a lot of informed effort into the choice?
Same deal (to a lesser extent perhaps) with stems?

Solo is $133.40 shipped to Aus on Massdrop right now. I need it to arrive before the 12th of Jan 2015 (as a birthday present to a friend) and would obviously like to pay less as opposed to more. Any pointers or should I just commit to this one?

My oldest solo keeps shutting off when I start hitting the bowl when I use it with a pa. If it is off battery it is fine. Has anyone experienced this?
I am chalking it up to a bad battery, since I know the battery in this solo is very finicky. I have not had time to remove the battery and try to use it battery-less, but I just ordered a hi capacity vape power battery from PV just to be safe.

Massdrop can be slow before shipping and i would not be sure that it would get to you on time?
For a few bucks more i would go with puffitup. Instant shipping reliable service.

I took part in another Arizer Solo massdrop. The drop ended on Sept. 16, shipped on the 24th, and I received it (in the USA) on the 27th.
However, another recent massdrop purchase of mine (MFLB finishing grinder) the drop ended Oct 9, and shipped Nov 1.
So the timing really varies. It is not totally under massdrop's control, as they are dependent on receiving the merchandise themselves before they can ship it out to the customers. If you need the Solo quickly then I recommend buying from a dealer who has the item in stock.
I'm not sure about shipping to your part of the world but aroma-tek.com dos really fast shipping as well.

Yes mine did that too .
Check to see if there's any fraying on the PA cord .
My PA started to fray around the plug part that fits into the Solo .

Pardon the repeat....I asked permission from Randy at PIU to mention this and he said he's ok with it.....
Read up on the FC vendors and went with PIU to purchase a new Solo. Emailed PIU/Randy about a price match and he responded so fast he combusted the reply.
Got the new Solo, screens, o-rings, acrylic grinder and 2 day priority shipping for $135. Ordered Wednesday at around 4pm, got the tracking info within 30 minutes and had the package in my greedy little hands by Friday at 2pm.
Randy couldn't have been nicer and the customer experience as you can tell was phenomenal!! The only way to improve this transaction would have been to get the stuff for free, have Randy set it up on arrival and then jump up and down on my chest to inhale for me.

Well I've been gone for a bit so I've decided to come back with something useful.
So, I recently went back to Hawaii and while there I needed to replace the screen in my Solo stem. I didn't have a flat screen to pop in, but I did have an EpicVape "basket screen" meant for the E-Nano.
As it turns out this works beautifully! Much better than a flat or domed screen IMO. Airflow is MUCH improved and the load size is reduced to the point where vapor starts to run out shortly after terps (aka perfect). I'd say I get about 4 or 5 big boy pulls before it's toasted (heat level 4 or 5). I'd say it's easily 1/3 the size of a stock stemload.
Anyway here's some pictures of what I'm talking about:
I should also note that this does an admirable job of filtering fine particulates.
I approve of this modification.

E-nano and Solo stems are interchangeable?
Fuck yeah, I can't even imagine using any other GonG with my Solo than the nano adjustables! The straight stems work too, but I find them a bit too long. Since the glass is thick with the EV ones, a decent presoak is required, but OMG

Stems question: I have neither of these at this point but I if E-nano stems are useable on the Solo, does anyone know if UD stems are interchangeable as well?
