How long is reasonable to wait for a classified seller to respond to payment?

:2c: If the seller didn't do anything other than 'grab his box' he'd still be within the agreement but this is not Judge Judy so fuck the legalities. I'm leaning toward Smokum's suggestion.

True enough. I think Judge Judy, in her focus on common sense in the law, would say that reasonable communication is an unspoken agreement as well. I can't see her siding with someone saying "I told him I'd grab a box. I never told him I would send it or respond to any requests for updates." I think JJ would tear that argument a new asshole. LOL

Is the member a well known member? Do they contribute here a lot?
Does it matter? It shouldn't.
Some public shaming may be in order IMO.
As long as it's in the negative feedback thread, no problem. And negative comments are acceptable even when the product is delivered, if communication is poor (as in the OP's case), if delivery is two months down the road with no reason given, if the product is not cleaned before shipment (as in your case), etc.

It don't matter to me but it may matter to the person he is having problems with. I would think that a well known member wouldn't want the forum to know they had treated a fellow member so poorly. I wouldn't. Would you?

The negative feedback thread would be the only place it would make sense posting it IMO.

I see we have a JJ aficionado. I have to agree - JJ would definitely rip the seller a new one if "I told him I'd grab a box was all I agreed to" was said. Something along the lines of "Are you kidding me, do you really want to embarrass yourself in front of millions of people like this because I will make it my business to embarrass you. Now, what's your pleasure...give em back the money or give him the product".

I hope the seller is just being hazy, lazy and couch locked for the holiday week but a simple PM stating 'Dude, Sorry...I procrastinated and now I'm stuck in a turkey, munchie and vape cycle right now and once I can pry myself away from the leftovers and off this couch I'll send it out' probably would have taken care of it. The disappearing from the site when PM'd doesn't bode well.

I agree a quick response to say the Holiday weekend got in the way would definitely ease my mind a little if I was the purchaser. Hopefully your right and it is just a busy weekend.

I want to advise everyone against characterizing the seller until you have at least heard his side of the story, or until it's firmly established that there's been some wrongdoing. Even then, we have rules about what you can say.

Wouldn't a long time member take that into consideration when dealing with a transaction? You'd think so, but there's no guarantee. Like I've said before, everyone leaves a forum eventually. If someone who intends to ripoff a buyer has decided to depart FC for good, they may not care if their user name rep is smeared or not.

The only place @TheDudeNextDoor can name the seller is in the Negative Feedback thread, and the current rule is that there is a 30 day waiting period. I've asked that the time limit be reviewed.

Meanwhile, I want to point out that the seller involved has completed several sales without incident. Since the original question has been answered and there has been a tendency to make personal attacks on the seller, I am closing this thread.
