@Davinci_vaporizer whats up with the spacers you said that were on the way???

Diito, both of my glass jar things broke because I was using them as spacers. I have had the davincii for about 4 months now and I really like it. Just the packing of the bowl is really hard and trouble some.

I also think my LED screen is not quite right, it seems to move up and down in the body housing.

:cool:Ascent on Massdrop. Again.

Please, what "various" sizes do you use? Beads should be less breakable (safer) than glass flowers. :)

AND, where does one buy these beads?

Can anyone vouch for this unit as a wax unit? I have used an ascent for herb, but have never had the opportunity to use it for wax. I was wondering if there are any better alternatives, or if this is a good wax unit? Thanks for any help, you guys are the best as always :D

I have never really heard of folks having success with the jars but I suppose you can mix it up with some herb and have it work alright. I have never done it but I think folks have been successful here.

If you are looking for a device that handles herb and wax well you might want to check out the Haze.

I have a tall pill bottle that I soak the 2 glass pieces in rubbing alcohol. When one set of glass tubes plugs up, I rotate the pieces & soak the plugged set. I have been doing this since I bought my Ascent. The other day I noticed that the alcohol was pretty dark. I poured it into a glass baking dish & let the alcohol evaporate. Left behind was a nice thick layer of golden honey. I scraped up enough to halfway fill a one gram vial or so. It is very strong & effective!!! One to three drops are all that you need.

Keep your eye open for a bottle & top that the glass stems will fit inside. Then start soaking your glass.

I love vaping my reclaim - though instead of ISO, I prefer Everclear (Grain alcohol) for the taste.

I have 50mL plastic lab vials with screw tops - they work perfectly for soaking my glass stems overnight. Mine are similar to these - http://www.amazon.com/Transport-Vial-Blue-Cap-50mL/dp/B00AN9IQ18

Sooo I want to start off by saying I am an on and off smoker who recently got diagnosed with epilepsy; because of this I began to smoke pot again to treat the side effects of the god awful medications that were prescribed to me. Needless to say, in the process of my decision to self medicate I realized I had to do so incognito style (LOL), being someone who used to smoke out of nothing other than a bong due to its filtration potential vapeing never crossed my mind. I live and smoke in my home in secret and the minimal smell was a plus! I work out 5-6 days a week and cant afford to caught out a lung you know what im saying? I appreciate efficiency and savings...lol

My first vape and only vape is the Ascent by Davinci, I was convinced by the efficiency of what most vapes claim to uphold and the glass pathway. I had to choose between the pax and the firefly at the time; let me tell you, coming into something like this I didnt know what to expect or what I was in for! I will be honest, I regretted the decision I made when I first forked out 260 bucks for it and it took me about a quarter 7g of material and 4 separate attempts to come to terms with the fact that seeing your vapor isnt that important.

Last night I had my most successful session with this vape just when I was at the point of giving up on this thing and selling it. Last night my hair was blown BACK like i mean i was soo gone I couldnt BELIEVE the little amount of material could get me so "set". Last night I realized that vaping truly is a journey and a learning experience; and In my journey I ran across this website and followed everything on this specific thread for 3 weeks and I tried everything. Ill tell you what worked for me...

So in short I would like to just express and share my experience; idk how much value my thoughts on this vape might hold to others as I am aware there are far better products out there but it isnt a complete waste of your money, because the ascent does come through.

With about a small nug of material i split it in 2 packings after grinding, meaning I packed my bowl half way and compressed it with oil can and left it there for the session. I like to start at 320F because if my research is correct it is withing the range that exploits the THC content (correct me if im wrong). After 3-5 min of heating I took my first pull, no vape, waited 45sec to 1min and took my second pull and still no vape, after the same duration I took a final pull in this temp range by witch point I knew I was getting zooded. I raised my temp up after 3 pulls to about 375F took 2 pulls with 45 sec to 1min waiting periods between pulls. Then 390F took 2 more with waiting periods mentioned, and finally at 410F for 2 almost 3 pulls with waiting periods. I would like to mention that around 390F-410F I was producing vapor and I was completely baked, period.

What did I learn from this session? What was so different about the others?

1) I learned I can get STUPID off of half a little nug (wish I had a scale to tell you the exact measurement that I loaded). I learned that my desire to see vapor was not going to be the end all be all of my experience because before I even saw the vapor after hitting the temps that made it possible I got what I really needed from the experience, that was the effects. I learned it was all in how you pull or draw from your vape as my most important point during this experience! I learned that if you pull patiently, slowly and controll the amount of air you bring into the chamber at one given time can make all the difference. I learned that vaping is somewhat of a skill and a learning process. The instant gratification of bong rips vs vaping all depends on the mindset one holds at the time of walking into such a "field" of smoking per say.

2) What was very different would be the controlled pulling and the amount of material I used. It was hard to hold back from doing your traditional rips, I required patience and alot of will power along with practice to not pull in too much air and compromise the material's heat. My material at the end of the session was 1 shade from black but come brown still showed after clearing and stirring the bowl.

I was so amazed by tthis experience and the amount of material I have left that I had to make an account to shared it for what its worth. The best part was that tonight I had gone out for 2.81 mile run and my lungs performed so well its like I hadnt smoke at ALL or vaped for that matter.

Every vaporizer has its own unique personality, and its only through trial and error that you truly master your device. Congratulations for making that crucial discovery and having the wisdom and patience to hang in there.

Ty Ty. I am pleased too I was about to go out and buy a bong the other day xD if it hadnt been for last nights trip.

I might go for the pax or firefly next time around idk. However, for now though the ascent meets all my needs.

Discrete, sleek, long battery life and you can never go wrong with glass if you ask me.

The more you use it the better you'll get. Keep experimenting and innovating, thats what this vape stuff is all about.

@Arian : welcome! The Ascent is a capricious beast, you need to do it her ways and not the inverse.

If you really consider getting a Pax (and most of us would agree that it's best to have at least two vaporizers to alternate or as a backup at least) I would advise you to have a look at the Indica and the FlowerMate 5S instead. The former was designed with feedback from FC members to create something better than the Pax (and I think they succeeded) and the latter is very cheap and a good performer on many aspects.

The Firefly on the other hand has a learning curve, and coming from the Ascent and precise temp control, it will be quite a change for you. Apart from that it's also a very good vape.

But keep on reading the forum, there are so many gems getting released lately, there are vapes for all tastes!

@KeroZen Hey mate!

I greatly appreciate your personal opinion on the alternatives. I would love to hear your experience before you actually began to appreciate the Ascent (if it was anything like mine lol). I will certainly start my research on the two vapes you mentioned, once you mentioned they were potentially cheaper than what I was interested AND better...now that just looks like a win win to me hahaha.

One thing is for damn sure though, the Ascent truly is a capricious beast; soft hitter too and iv come to terms with it but at the end of the day it put me in my place no matter how soft or non existent the vapor might be xD.

@Arian the FM 5 and 5s will both do you well. I've never used a pax but I can tell you that the Flowermate is built like a tank, has excellent battery life, and charges relatively quick. I believe you can either get a silicone or pyrex mouthpiece.

I don't know what your budget is but you should also take a look at the Haze vaporizer. I really enjoyed the Ascent and will own one again sooner or later, but the Haze is definitely a solid alternative.

I just upgraded from the original Da Vinci to the Ascent! It's charged up right now, and i can't wait to charge it. The first thing I notice is that the glass grinds upon itself when I slide the mouthpeice up and down, but once i get vapin i'm sure it will lube itself up with leftover vaped goodness. :D After a bad experience with the original, I have extremely high hopes for the Ascent! the thing is a thing of beauty with battery life that is unheard of for portables as far as I know... and it looks so much more sleek than the original. I honestly can't wait to fire this ting up and start vaping.

Just a couple questions.

1) What are the rubber stoppers and screens that came in a separate bag for?

2) I forgot the other question man, lol.

This thing looks so sweet, it was definitely worth the extra 40 bucks for the upgrade. I have the "carbon fiber" model.

Did your Ascent poop out on you after some time? My budget is under 300 and I prefer concealable pieces.

To answer your Q's

The rubber stoppers wrap arund the glass mouth piece so you can cover it up when not in use to prevent unwanted particles from entering the pathway. Very hygienic:)

The screens many put to use, commonly placed at the bottom of the bowl where the 4 holes are to avoid finer ground material from falling out. Another is placed on top of packed material to avoid sucking up herbs when you make your pulls. I find myself not using the screens though since I leave the oil cans in instead. This works as my screen and keeps me from inhaling any herbs really.

its off-gassing.... How many 10 minute cycles on max do i have to do to get rid of the "mystery vapor" with this new and improved unit? I had to do it 8 times with the da vinci as was recommened by da vinci... and then the power button stopped working, leading me to take it back, pay more, and buy the ascent. And it's off gassing too. No I haven't loaded the bowl.

Does anyone have any experieince with this unit off gassing?
