Yea, the little spring loaded pin that sits inside the gold piece that screws into the bottom. I soaked it once, maybe I'll try again...

If that spring has collapsed then there is a fix to it, it's not a perm fix but it will get your here up and running.

What you need to do is pull the rod out a bit more and it will make contact again.

As for the spare pin we have them online, under the Hercules section or spare parts.

I just received my omicron lite with 3 essential oil cartridges and an extra kiss ceramic cart. I love waxes and shatter, and wanted something clean. G actually convinced me to not purchase the Persei because of the learning curve.

I am a mechanical engineer and would have no trouble taking these apart. Should I buy the Persei and Hercules while there is a sale, or wait and see how steep the learning curve is? Why do all portable vaporizers suck at waxes I.e. Ascent? Prob can't get hot enough. I have a maud dib with a bubbler ? Love it but I hate loading each time. I like the Hercules because all the parts are clean and you get to know what you are smoking from. Should I just use the omicron lite for now and wait for something better? Or buy the Persei and Hercules for the future. Thanks
My 1st concentrate pen was a persei with an hercule sr71 and kiss carts. The hercule was too hard, I filled the bottom chamber twice in 2 sessions. I didnt want to reclaim everyday, so I went with the kiss way. Its almost impossible to over heat with 3.7v, so I guess its the best to start getting familiar with oil vaping. I prefer 7.4v because of the power. But you can burn your oil at 7.4v..

I feel I could tackle the herc after 1 month of kiss usage. Im satisfied with 7.4v kiss vaping, so the herc can still wait for me :ko:

Had another minor issue today that I just wanted to see if I could get some expert insight on.

So my spring collapsed recently. I replaced it and tore down then rebuilt my 71 again to make sure everything was clean and ready to use. Things seemed ok for a minute but the button started flashing again, just like before the spring collapsed, so I stopped right away and tore the whole thing down again.

Once I got the top/bottom chambers and rod assembly back together, I screwed that onto the bottom Teflon adapter and screwed it into the Persei top. The light did not blink but the rod wasn't heating either. Not a good sign.

At that point I decided to try it without the bottom adapter and it fired right up. Tested 4 or 5 times, and it worked fine each time.

I haven't seen any videos or anything tearing that bottom Teflon adapter apart but I figured that had to be the culprit so I dug in anyway. I did not see anything wrong with any of the parts-- the insulators were intact, no debris or anything was in there. I just got everything reassembled about 15 minutes ago and it seems to be working normally again.

So, I'm trying to figure out what would cause that bottom adapter to do this. There aren't any moving parts in there really, just a couple screws and some insulators. Am I possibly over-tightening or something?

Hey spout, is kiss really a cartridge or dab as you go? It looks like dab as you go

@THC SCIENTIFIC do you guys sell the pin that holds the ceramic on the sr71? I accidentally broke one of the tabs while cleaning it. Didn't see it one the website just the gold ones for the sr74.

What is inside the essential oil cartridge? I only found about w9tech when I saw a YouTube video with a guy with a dozen different cartridges with different concentrates. I know what is in the Hercules. Is it ceramic and titanium?

Do I need to do a 5 second burn off with kiss titanium cartridge? Or a quick 1-2 second push to see if the titanium starts to warm?

It is possible to have the screws in the bottom adaptor adjusted so that it shorts out. Your problem may be there. If you have access to a multimeter, fully assemble the Herc and test with a meter. Make sure it is not a dead short.

@mixchu69
KISS is load as you go.

Its as you like. Dab is a good method; cleaner cart, easy to know what you vaped, no need to scrape reload the cart as you get close to finish it. I did use it more as a cartridge though, with 7.4v. Im not sure what 3.7v will do with a filled kiss, but I have to consiredably press the fire button longer (I still need a lot of improvement there) to get comparable results with a dab load at 7.4v. Harder to burn the oil with a filled cartridge.

Gary reported clients just pulling the mouth piece and dropping a big shatter ball in the kiss cart. Really simple :)

I think you're right about that. But my real concern is I'm not sure exactly where the short was occurring or how it was being caused. I just want to be sure I'm not going to end up with the same problem reoccurring later if I can help it.'

Maybe I can get a good Black Friday deal on a new meter, heh.

In my opinion you can get a cheapo Harbor Freight or other multi meter that can adequately measure resistance, for $20 or less, and it's all you need, if you don't mind doing a little math- the cheap meters usually don't subtract inherent resistance- some do. w9's circuit tester is a simple, affordable version that couldn't be easier to use. Either of those things are cheap and will prevent you from toasting another top due to an incorrectly assembled Herc.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Today's my last day of medicating for a little while, and I'm thankful for all the good times my UP tech gear's given me :)

True. But I feel like, in general, if I'm spending money on new gear anyway, then I want it to be the best quality I can realistically get. I'd mainly avoided the UP tester because it's just a single-purpose device when I can get a meter and have it available to use on other stuff in addition to testing carts. I've just been putting it off too long though.

I'm thankful it wasn't the top that toasted, and it was just the battery spring.

Cool! I have a blue point (cheap line of Snap On) meter that works ok, it is not as nice as a good Fluke. You can certainly spend a lot on a good meter; my $~120 unit has lasted for nearly a decade of automotive and marine troubleshooting. A few sets of leads over the years...

40% off on stainless ophos, stainless omicron lite.

Also on sale are color kiss cartridges, Okeanos, and a countless other things.

@Hashassin they require button tops, the flat tops are not that reliable.

So I was using the tip that I read about holding your dabber in the hercules and pulsing the heat to get the oil off, and it caused a short and the spring to collapse(batteries were also pretty hot), and my top has a constant blue light. The hercules was only reading 0.09 on the tester after this happened, but re assembly brought it back to normal.

Luckily I was able to stretch the spring and use my hammer top to verify that the hercules still works(it does), but man what an annoyance.

Get the herc. Nothing is better. The learning curve is a bit of a bitch but so worth the results.

price changes on the 8 when you add to cart
I noticed that too. What a scam! Gets you on the site pretty quick though.
Is there anybody besides W9 with a sale on W9 products? They want $31 to ship 3 fucking kiss carts to Canada.
