Terpenes as a Solvent?

Has anyone heard of terpenes being used as a solvent? I've been looking for shatter and this guy hit me up saying he has this stuff that is made without butane or anything else and is just pure THC/terps. Included some lab results showing 70% THC with 0 ppm residual solvents. Never seen anything like it:

So any opinions? I guess it's basically like solventless wax if it's mostly THC and rest just plant material but even so, I'm skeptical about how "true" the taste/smell is if it's all coming from added terps; could just be made using schwag brown brick weed.

They could also be using some higher-end, cleaned-up turpentine (from pine trees) or lemon oil (limonene).

Horatio definitely uses d-limonene. Turpentine is mostly (alpha and beta) pinene with a smattering of carene, camphene, δ-terpinene, and limonene. Molecularly, d-limonene "LOOKS" like it would be the best (structure is roughly straight, nice group of hydrogen atoms on the top and bottom to hook onto things), with MAYBE carene next.

Yeah, I have gotten a few of Werc's tested products and heard they were going to be selling additive terp's soon, sounds like you'd be better off just getting live resin based concentrates though, or am I missing something?

as for using Limonene as a solvent, here is the test results of HD's Secret Cup connoisseur's choice winner, note there is less than .01% limonene. He uses an Azeotropic Vacuum Distillation to remove it all.
