Arizer Solo

I've reported on this very product several times. It you need to add a connector and it doesn't fit as shipped. You need to carve it up (read trash the warranty) to install it. Did that GC guy mention that part?

Centizen makes 'plug and play' versions, PIU and PV sell the factory battery and this one, while a little lower in capacity (and cost), will actually fit and function in the Solo as shipped (you still need to deal with connectors):

thanks for the info.... Now I found Centizen's site - http://vapepower.ca/product/arizer-solo-hc-battery/#comment-2085

I'm kinda thinking about making my own battery pack from these - http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-NCR18650B-3400mAh-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00DHXY72O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416592640&sr=8-1&keywords=panasonic 18650 3400mah

Anyone know if this pack has PCB? cause for the price you cant beat this - http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-4V-2200mA...ry-/190875389263?ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:US:1120

But I'm not sure if I need a PCB off my old bat pack or if these batteries all incorporate it?

And as far as Polarity being reversed in Solo , that dont matter does it? Just build the battery pack then wire it up as it was? (reversed) ?

I like doing things myself and saving money when I can,,,, anybody but Centizen build theres from ground up?

I like your thinking for sure.
Making your own is always fun. However, you need to use pre-tabbed cells. You should not attempt to solder onto the cells directly as can cause internal damage. Specially on the negative connection. Just search "tabbed 18650".
Also, there is no reason you can not use the original board and connector. Just be careful to connect up the same.
Good luck.

Basically what Bobcat said. The holes in the stem are too large and you'll be eating your product. Also, if your grind is too fine and you don't pack the stem, it can potentially fall into the holes of the oven where it will be lost forever. Just use a medium grind, use a screen in the stem, and pack gently. You'll be fine.
Will Magic Flight nano grinder give me medium grind? Or is it too fine?

Guys, a thread about a broken older model solo from ask fc got trashed. the op of the thread PM'd me so i would like to remind the thread about older solos which get stuck unable to turn on. So people with "dead" older solos can bring them back to life.

This only applies to pre-pass thru SOLOs! If you can use your stock charger while heating, this does NOT apply to you. If plugging in your charger while it's in the middle of heating resets it, then you are able to use a PA and this DOES apply to you.

This requires that you own a PA. Really anything with the proper polarity and between 7.5 and 9.5 volts that can put out at least 700mA will work. You do not need to heat an entire load off of it, you just need it to turn on and get it into PA mode, which is why most any power supply with the proper specs will work.

the SOLO is center positive so you want the - on the left side and the + on the right side.

you might have a power supply in the correct voltage range lying around at home. most likely if you do, it is 5.5x2.1mm. the solo is 4.0x1.7mm so you could get an adapter on ebay for like $2 shipped.

  1. Unscrew top from solo, remove top
  2. unscrew bottom plate
  3. pull out solo innards, remove battery cover
  4. disconnect battery, make note which way the cable is plugged into PCB, it must be correct when you plug it back in
  5. use your PA power supply to turn it on with no battery connected. wait for it to turn on, turn the heat up, and let it start to heat a tiny bit. you will know it is being reset because it will take about 3x as long as normal to get past the initial start up.
  6. it doesn't need to be heating from the PA for long at all. unplug it to shut it off.
  7. re-connect battery, try to turn it on with the battery and heat. if it can, re-assemble.
  8. if it still doesn't work, your battery might be completely dead.
it is caused by a dead battery putting out bad power and too little for the solo to deal with although it thinks the battery is okay. this causes the solo's computer to become corrupted and the memory is filled with garbage. to do a hard reset by turning it on with the PA and no battery attached is the only way you can definitely do it yourself.

if anyone has the boot loop issue on a pass thru capable solo, please let me know if this works for reviving those too.

Duuuude, that's sick!!!
A steamroller stem? How do i get a hold of one of those? Minus that little black nutsack XD

Thanks, and you can get one from @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd. The "little black nutsack" are the feet that keep it standing up.

dude the #5 on your solo is missing :o

besides that, does this thing has a an air-entry on the right edge?

Yeah... The #5 scraped off in my bag one time. And yes the top tube is completely open on both ends. The back works like a carb.

I just got my Solo and want to get something small and inexpensive for water. From reading here I've narrowed it down to the DO20 and the Pinnacle clone. Do you have any recommendations? And which D0-20 are you using- there were at least 7 models at Sunshinestore. What do I need to buy to adapt these to the Solo?
Also it would be very helpful to see a picture of how each of these is used with the Solo.

Hello,

New member but actually found info on the solo many years ago on this site and figured this was the best place to ask my question.

I have model m107. Here is what has going on. When I turn on the unit I get one long beep with the number 7 light on then all 7 lights stay on. The lights do not go out like when it works? Also the blue idle light stays on. The unit does not heat up and the lights just stay on. When I put it into the charger while on, the charge light blinks green but no beep. All lights still on. When I plug the unit in while off, the unit beeps and all 7 lights stay on along with the blue idle light. It just doesn't work.

Does this sound like the battery? I really don't want to waste $50 on a battery when it's just broken.
I do not have the the pa and the battery is not the easiest to obAn aborting submucous myoma” (tumor) tain although this site has made that easier. Does this sound like the battery to the people in the know.

When I emailed the company the gentleman seemed like it was defective and wanted me to send it in which isn't an option for me. To send an item in the mail with weed resin in it. Can never make it 100 percent weed residue free at this point. That's all I need, to get busted with a solo with some weed dust in the case or something.

Thanks for the info

Using a domed screen to lift my stem off of the heating element has completely changed my world.....i was having to lift the stem with my fingers and i was drawing till my eyes almost popped out......the domed screen improved both issues......im getting 7-10 good draws on level 6......the last few arent the best tasting but they arent too much to handle imo.......
My question is are the o-rings used strictly to improve the loose stems or will they also improve my situation of wanting some lift-off between the stem and the heater??

Thx

The o-ring helps to hold the stem in place, so it won't wobble around and fall out. It won't help with the contact that the herb has with the stem and bowl. Don't use as much herb and use your index (or pinky) finger to lightly pack your load. Don't pack it to much because you need the airflow through your herb. The herb should stay in place once the heat hits it.

I hope that makes sense.
@Bigjay991
Plenty folks send their vaporizers back through the mail or UPS. Give it a good cleaning with ISO. It's a electronic vapor aroma device if asked.

I think probably 1/4 of the vaporizers I buy I end up sending back. It might even be higher than that. Always go with an authorized vendor. I go with Puffitup if I'm looking for a vaporizer, here lately. They don't sell all the vaporizers out there. Go with a vendor on this site to be on the safe side.

There aren't as many returns with the Solo. There's been more here lately because they just did an upgrade.

Your worries on this are way overblown. I've never seen anyone say their vape was seized during a service return. With a vape like the Solo almost all the 'evidence' stays home on the stem. The vape itself is easy to clean, and they don't have drug sniffing dogs at your local Post Office. Many Solos have been returned to the manuf. over the years, with no issues. I'd take advantage of the warranty if I were you.

Thanks for your response. Besides the return thing, does it sound like a battery issue? What happens to these things when the battery does die out?

not so worried about local post office. Worried about going to Canada which I believe is where it would have to be sent to. My bowl/chamber will only get so clean, and it does smell as it should all things considered. I would hate to buy a battery and the same thing happens. Can not really find any info what a dying battery does to the Solo? Am I a very careful person, hell yes and glad. People here in Nj go to jail for these things, or at least pay big fines and such.

Wiping to bowl with isopropyl alcohol and a quick wipe with a santizing wipe to the outside and you'll be fine. Keep the stems at home with you.
