Thanks for the reply, Arizer wouldn't help after i couldn't find my POF. :/
How much are replacement batterys

It depends (doesn't it always....). You can go cheap ($10):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-4V-2200mA...ry-/190875389263?ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:US:1120
But you need to swap the connector over (and shorten the wires some) and it doesn't seem to have the full capacity (somewhere in the half to 2/3 range I think, but testing won't tie it down for some reason?).

Factory batteries (about $40?) come from PIU or PV, both excellent sources.

Forum member and all round good fellow, CentiZen makes some well liked high capacity ones, you might check with him.

If you decide to go with the cheap solution, remember it's a serious battery (even partially charged like you get it) work on only one wire at a time.

Good luck with it.

So, in this moment in time there are 1239 pages to this thread....I'm going to try to read them all I'm currently on page 10....I wonder when I'll finish! Thought I may as well work through them even if they're more than 3 years old. I want to see people's differing ways of using the Solo as I think I'm not quite getting the most I can out of it. But it could be any number of reasons I suppose....wrong technique, shoddy bud, my tolerance level (aka blown circuitry) or that I just got back from Amsterdam?

Also, I just read the post from 3 years ago about using it while charging would be catastrophic for the battery. So does that mean that the updated model has accounted for that?

Sounds like what I have seen in this thread earlier, a battery failure. You may need to replace the battery.

How much does solo chamber hold? Is it ok if I pack only 0.05-0.1g and less than half way up? Is there a difference in vapor quality and efficiency between full bowl and very loose bowl filled up less then half way up?

Domed screen works best, IMO.
Take a 5/8 inch screen and dome it over a sharpie or similar object. I use the old screen from my pinnacle pro mouth piece cuts the solo bowl in half.
the PnP screen is more basket shaped.
Also used the No2 screen.

so it will vaporize just as good with a very loose pack? why do some people keep saying that you have to pack vapes tight and grind weed almost powdery?

Vapes that require an almost powdery grind packed very tightly are almost always conduction vapes (Pax, iolite, etc). The fine grind increases surface area, and the tight pack encourages heat to transfer through the material to make sure everything is vaporized. The solo uses both convection and conduction (depending on how it's used) to vaporize. I like to remove the stem between hits to minimize the conduction heating, and maximize the convection action.

Alright gotcha man thx! Will it still be good to grind finely for solo? And what about if the bowl is packed very loosely?

Honestly, I've tried almost every combination of grinds and pack methods in my solo, and it handles them all quite well. It will work with fine grinds and a screen, and it'll work with whole nugs. My favorite way to use it is with a medium grind, lightly tamped to the top of the bowl. I inhale through the stem to load it from my grinder, and then lightly brush away any excess before gently pressing it flat. This allows airflow for convection, while allowing the load to heat evenly through conduction from the hot glass bowl. I get pretty uniform abv as dark as I like using this method.

what happens if you use very fine grind without a screen? is it gonna fall down? I'm sorry I don't have a solo yet but I really wanna buy it and kinda wanna know the details lol

I just realised that i havent rolled a blunt in two days
Im starting to find my sweetspot.....im definitely a higher temp man......took it with me when i went to re-up and my dude(a female actually and also a long time blunt smoker) was very impressed.....randy@piu might be getting more business from ctx.......

Basically what Bobcat said. The holes in the stem are too large and you'll be eating your product. Also, if your grind is too fine and you don't pack the stem, it can potentially fall into the holes of the oven where it will be lost forever. Just use a medium grind, use a screen in the stem, and pack gently. You'll be fine.

WOW!!! takes me back!
this was exactly my story of when i got my SOLO
i was smoking 3+ blunts a day.
the SOLO was the vape to get me to quit blunting and start vaping all day.

i put it to the side for a while since i have very powerful toys now like my nano but today i broke out my old solo again and truly reminded me how great a vape it is... did a few wonderful bowls at 6

Ok, I guess I should just ask (they say there are no stupid questions)... the screens, they go after you pack the bowl, like to keep the oven from getting herbs falling in there- yes? It seems people are using the screens against the glass screen in the stem? I'm confused. Do they use screens in both spots?

Put the screen in the empty stem, over the 4 holes. Place herb over that. No more bits flying through.

So no one worries about herbs drying during the session and dropping onto the heating element?

After over a year and a half I finally need to replace my battery... Only lasting 3-4 bowls not all day anymore.

So I want some options... From what i've read someone ( but I cant find it ) make batteries with the plug allready on them, some make higher mah versions...

I want to know what my options aree and get some links to them if anyone has them, pleeze!

I see this ( seems easy and cheap, according to some guy on grass city, it works? ) - http://www.amazon.com/Tenergy-Li-Ion-2200mAh-Rechargeable-Battery/dp/B002Y2LJW0/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1416589489&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=Tenergy 18650 with pcb 2200 mah 7.4 v L-ion Battery

OK I found a 3400 mah here - http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/221583944478?lpid=82

I'm no electrical engineer but I'm thinking a 3400 mah might last about 1/3 longer than a 2200 mah? so maybe 11-12 bowls insted of 7-10? meh not sure if its worth an extra 20$ ???

thoughts for those who have done it?
