not because it was too wet when i got it or anything, more that i just had a sense that the weed should age for a while in a jar before getting to its best point.

i actually right now have been smoking a jar i put to the side abour 3 months ago for this very reason. i was very happy with the wait so even if it is perfectly dry seeming when i get it, maybe it needs a few weeks to get real crumbly.

Bud does do better when properly aged. There is a proper /best humidity for it to be "not too wet and not too dry". Boveda 62% humidity packs in a sealed jar with no light are best for curing.

The ideal final consistency is like a sponge---gently push on it and it will then rebound back to original shape. If you push on it and it crumbles-----too too dry.

Never had to use those Boveda packs and the consistency of my bud has been what you described above for more than 8 months.

A lot depends on your location. Here in MN, winter inside humidity gets to be 15% or less, so long-term storage of preemo bud requires a "humidity helper"...

For myself I dry till the stems reach that bend snap point. Then they are loosely jarred with a hygrometer and burped until moisture content stabilises around 60% at which point a boveda pack is put in the jars and they are put away for 3/4 months. This is when I do my final grading then rear vacuum seal the jar and put away until required.
I believe curing ages and matures the final product similar to wines.
With my cure my final product comes out similar to an old dried up sponge

I hear ya.....It's been getting' kind of dry out here too but not that dry.

+1 for @iwien. I stored loose buds in a way to large but vacuumed mason jars for months. It barely lost moisture. I used boveda packs for a few months. I thought they were the cause for the lost of the sweet flavor of my purple kush, so I stopped using it. (it wasnt boveda's pack fault btw)

Back to the topic, I use vacumed mason jars to store my meds and never looked back. I feel satisfied with the results and im tuf to satisfy. Ask my meds supplier

I just felt the need to add my voice doubting the actual benefits of using the boveda packs. Thats one of the rare hardware recommended a lot on fc that I feel wasnt up to the hype

I think by cured they mean how long they dried it for, because it is a lot easier to vape and smoke super dry bud.

IMHO It is about getting the buds into a stasis. A balance of fresh and dry, of just starting to fade from ripe but not rotten. Capturing the trichones and terpenes in a perfect blend of flavor and effect. It is the Holy Grail of bud work. It can only be strived for and recalled never achieved.

Just vaped some Super Silver Lightning i grew at the start of the year!
I have it stored in mason jars that i vacuum seal and store in a cool dark place.

Smells amazing, super crystally and perfectly cured!
Grinds up to a nice fine grind with not effort!
Vapes nice big thick, tasty clouds!
Hits like a freight train...
Kind of makes me want to run around but at the same time i am one with the chair!

I use the 62's in a CVault. Typically 2-3 for good measure (especially with it getting cold here).

I am storing for months at a time and needed containers to keep smell down on fresh product, so a large CVault fits the bill.

I didn't know about the 54's.

I was wondering about the cannabis stored in the jars? Is it OK to keep the cannabis in jars in the open light or should the cannabis be in a dark place? I noticed the cannabis in the jars (picture above) were in the light. Maybe they were out just to take the picture? Possibly put back away in a dark cabinet long term.

Try to keep light, heat and air away from stored bud, and keep the rh constant if possible.

Thanks for the heads up, I just kicked myself for not being on their mailing list. I can't seem to find any retailers that have the 54% packs yet or even know about them, do you know how long ago they were announced?

I'm a little too excited about this, it's exactly what was missing in the product line. I've found that the 62% packs can make some strains feel a little too moist, but they still work great at keeping it fresh. I am sure that I'll end up using both the 54's and the 62's. I will order some from Bovedainc.com right away, the pricing and shipping charges are very reasonable.

Yes these jars are kept in the dark. I turned on the lights to take the photo.

I grabbed some 54s off amazon just now, good looks steama.
