Anime and manga

I thought I'd create a thread for ppl to share recommendations for good anime and manga series that they enjoy.

My favorite manga series (and one of my fav anime series) by far has been Berserk. If any of you are unfamiliar with it I suggest you stop reading this shit now and go read/watch it. It's a brutal, explicit dark medieval fantasy type of setting, with a pretty gripping overall storyline. The original anime series was from the early 90's iirc, and only covers like a 1/3 of the overall story of the manga. I wasn't content with how the anime ended, so when i found out that there was a manga and that it had continued the story on well past where the anime ended, i was all over it. I can't recommend the manga highly enough, i've never really been big into manga or comics, but this sucked me right in.

So I read some pretty awesome news a little while back, that they are making new anime movies for Berserk, and from what i heard they plan on covering the whole story of the manga this time, and more faithfully (similar to Hellsing Ultimate). The production/animation looks superb, have a look

I can't wait for an english sub of this!

Other favorites of mine:

Hellsing (the manga and Hellsing Ultimate, the original just Hellsing anime wasnt as good imo)
Bleach
Trigun
Samurai Champloo
Cowboy Bebop
Ergo Proxy
Ghost in the Shell
DB, DBZ, DB GT
(others i can't think of atm)

What are your favs?

I enjoyed berserk like you but found it ended all too soon to be considered one of the greats, I also loved DBZ but it was my first anime and in retrospect pales in comparison with some of the better offerings, still love it for the memories though.

Amazing anime.

Fullmetel alchemist brotherhood
Code Geass
Ghost in a shell - Stand alone complex

Currently lined up to watch

Hellsing ultimate
Baccano
Gungrave

Hellsing OVA ep 9 is out (and I guess it has been for a while, I'm just slow), and guess what? You can watch it in full HD english-subbed goodness right on youtube (though if you havent seen the first 8 eps you should definitely start there):

highly recommended

Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Very good remake/reboot of one of my fav series, condensed and more accessible storyline, definitely look forward to future releases

Hellsing (Ultimate)/OVA ep 10 (final) - fitting end to an awesome series, WAY better than original tv animation, VERY true to the manga.

but the best thing i've seen recently by far is the new third movie in the Berserk OVA remake, Berserk - Golden Age Arc III: Decent

berserks been my fav manga for many years, and i couldnt be more pleased with how incredible these movies have been. the story is sticking with the manga and is now to the point where its continuing on past the original series' disappointing end. The animation, audio, and just overall production blew me away, even better than the first 2. the eclipse massacre was every bit as graphic and brutal as i had hoped.

i really cant recommend it highly enough, its honestly got to be the best anime i've ever seen.

I loved the original animation and have currently only seen the first movie which to be honest disappointed me as it blew over many plot items that were integral to the story. How did you find the first one on its own?

Also I must have said this before but have you seen Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood?

Yeah i had some issues with things that were left out in the first movie, and I was on the fence about the blend of CG and traditional style animation. Was worried that they were going to censor things bad when it got.to the eclipse and after. Movie 2 was a bit better but it wasn't until this third one that I was totally sold on these remakes. The animation seems to have improved some also. I'm eager to see the next movie, can't wait to see the berserk armor and all the other cool shit and characters that was left out of the original animation.

And I saw FMA but it was the original series, I'll have to look into this brotherhood one

I wasn't aware they were planning to make any more i thought that was it.

I didnt like the first FMA personally but love the FMAB version and think its my all time fav. You will have to put up with some repeat story for the first 7 or so episodes and I hope you remember hoe they came to be as the new series glances over these assuming you have seen it before but the series is definitely one of the best i have ever seen. Let me know what you think of it once you have had a chance to see it

Only anime thread I could find here so this will have to do. Better than making a new thread..
I'm downloading Parasyte: The Maxim and will be checking it out tonight. it's a new horror, 6 episodes into the first season. Its about an alien that attatches to a kid's right hand and is an evil shapeshifter.

I like DBZ, been rewatching it lately. Loved it when I was younger.

Not really into anime too much anymore, though I heard Naruto is very good, and my roomate and I watched Attack On Titan this past season, it was kind of enjoyable but we also enjoyed laughing at the total of action sometimes (Would be whole episodes of just minimal discussion, or just "prepping for the battle" the entire episode)

Coincidentally, last week I got on Facebook and saw a post from a guy I went to high school with, he was captain of the football/basketball teams, kind of a "thug" for lack of a better term, but he was always a great guy to myself.

Has a status update that reads: "I dont care that im bout to get cut up, ya'll need to watch Naruto, shit goes hard."

 Cracked me up.

Loved Samurai Champloo! And cowboy bebop.

I found the dryness of One Punch Man hilarious.

Still working my way through Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Watched the original years ago though.

Watching Bleach too, but it hasnt really grabbed me to be honest.

Attack on Titan was great.

Im mostly just watching what Netflix has to offer really. But seems like there is lots of great stuff out there.

This shit will bring "the feels":

Attack on Taitan, of course, as others have mentioned:

Re: Zero:

91 Days (an anime, set in an italian mafia world):

If you don't mind a Shonen-Jump series thrown in here, because it's a little different than the average...I enjoyed Hunter x Hunter:

I was never one for "Magical Girl" shows, and this one starts out like a show for 8-year old girls. But give it a couple episodes, as it gets dark, and later on you might be wondering if you need an adult.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica:

Knights of Sidonia is worth your time:

There were more from recent years that I enjoyed, but that's what's sprang to mind at the moment.
