Have to say, I love the Firefly!
I have the Pax, (about to be replaced with the Alfa) but am about to return my second model to the company within 6 months due to issues with the temp change light.

The Firefly has a bit of a learning curve, but the unit is amazing

I have decided I like, no love, the Firefly even though I dislike the stirring, but fuck it. The Firefly is a great vaporizer. I did the drawer test. I put the Firefly in a drawer and stopped using it for a couple of weeks. I broke her out today and I must say I was once again impressed. Yeah, I think the Firefly will always have a home with me — imo the Firefly is a keeper without a doubt. I will have to figure out how to get into stirring like @mitchgo61

Before you say it, yeah, I have tried shaking it and all the other great tips. For me stirring is a necessary evil with the Firefly — a bowl really needs one good stir imo.

:peace:
For stirring, I just dump the entire bowl out on to a folded piece of paper, and then let it slide back into the bowl, no mess since there is no ash. I LOVE this product, the stirring is the only part that I wish I didn't have to do. I have the unit, plus two extra batteries and the external charger, and love the set up. For cleanup, there is nothing easier.

I was hoping you'd be back!! We have to keep the Original FF Owner's Club together!

Necessary evil is right. The FF can be a pain in the ass. It really makes us work for the vapor. But as the song goes, nice work if you can get it...

I don't stir and feel my Firefly finishes what I load in there. I break off a piece of bud large enough to fill the bowl. Then after a few hits, the nugget is still whole, so I flip it over. Then after a few hits, I break it apart and finish it up.

I use a medium grind with a loose pack and a screen on top, no stirring or even shaking which doesn't do much for me. The avb gets a dark spot in the middle, but I finish a bowl in 2-3 big hits and there's nothing left to vape. My avb looks pretty even when dumped out, better than my lotus. I could probably get slightly more even avb with both devices by slowing down my inhale a bit, but it doesn't really concern me.

Yeah my methods mentioned earlier produce pretty even results without stirring, but depending on the amount, exact grind consistency, and herbal blend, sometimes I do stir once toward the end of a bowl

That's pretty much what I do, except for the final step I dump out the bud, crush it with fingers, pour it back it, and use a top screen.

WOW.
I got my Firefly a week ago, and had been using material that had been ground very fine (it was supposed to be used with my Pax, before it broke).

For the last day or two have been using a new batch that has only been slightly torn, or used as small nuggets, and the difference is amazing! No more fine material coming into my mouth and the unit works better and more economical this way. I can draw much harder as well.
I really love this device.

Yeah, getting material in the mouth is one of the annoyances of the FF. A 20mm screen works great at allowing only the vapor into the mouth. I think some final hits should be after the bud is crushed, so the THC on the inside has a chance to get out. The early hits on the uncrushed buds does cause some pyrolysis on the material over the base, but I'm not yet convinced that is something to be concerned about.

I've never gotten herb on my mouth with my FF. Med grind I'm the shredder, no problems, any pieces stick to the oils on the steel in the path. The channels are what get clogged though, but i can still get nice hits using my top-tap method after each hit. Occasionally using screens but they dont really protect the channels very well and seem to be mostly more trouble than they're worth for me (as they are in most vapes in my opinion).

I had decent results just broken up and not ground as well, but they weren't as consistent as grinding, unless there's regular stirring. So I'm sticking with ground til it stops working for me, bc not having to open it up until I empty the bowl for the most of the time, is really quite nice. Hits can be harsh though, hasher than my Elevape and maybe even as harsh as my Indica sometimes? I do get some cool hits too, but the harsh ones are just really hot and harsh

I have the FF for 2 months now and I agree that the above quote is the one that gives me the best results. Super efficient and the first 2 drags are extremely tasty!

Yes, medium or even unground works best. Smaller bits have less trouble clearing the vapor paths around the port window and getting into the mouthpiece. I find that if you start unground and break up material as you go, the finer material you eventually end up with doesn't get through the vapor paths because they get a little more clogged by the end of the bowl. It's like it produces its own fine particle filter as you use it.

This is weird to me, because the one thing I've never experienced with any FF is a harsh hit. Hits that make me cough, definitely, but nothing that feels remotely harsh or even warm. To me anyway the stainless steel path seems to cool the vapor down to air temperature...I often get large hits without realizing it until I exhale. When I do an A/B comparison with another portable, like the Solo or the INH, they seem much hotter. (Especially the INH.) That coolness is my favorite FF feature...the flavor is just so freaking great....

For some reason one of my batteries starts flashing green instead of staying solid blue when its finished charging. Been doing it from the beginning I think. Anyone else experience this or know what it means if anything?

This is a new one. Haven't seen it. One battery is normal? And does this happen in the FF itself or the external charger or both?

Test it with other batteries. The light is part of the device and in my experience when it acts weird it's the FF and not the battery. Not that it necessarily means anything if everything else is working right. (My replacement silver is doing the same thing my one did....the red light doesn't stay lit when the battery dies, it lights and then goes off in seconds.)

There have definitely been weird light quirks with various units. I have no idea if they are connected to, or predictive of, later device failure. The warranty will protect you regardless, and don't be completely shocked if something else weird happens.

Yeah I only have the other one and it doesn't do it. Everything seems to be fine regardless. Just thought I'd throw it out there

Eh, I don't really feel like going through an exchange process if everything's functioning fine. Such a hassle. I don't know what the light means but I haven't noticed any performance issues.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
Well, I just heard from FF and they are shipping me a new unit. They said the old one was malfunctioning and would discharge the battery in less than 10 min. First we tried a new battery, but it was the unit itself. When I was cleaning the old one to ship back, the gasket cam out from under the screen.

So, now I'm at a crossroad. I got a brand new FF coming to me, completely unopened, and I still have the original battery so that's an extra.

There just seem to be so many bugs with this model still. Plus, based on my situation, I can only vape outside or in my garage. This time of year I just don't see the battery situation holding up very well in the cold of the NE winter. I have more consistent use with my Lotus vape. I think my decision is being made.

Hmmm. That's not what was happening with mine, though it had the same behavior as yours. Mine wasn't draining the battery...it would just throw a red light after 18 seconds, and shut off the coil. When I put the same battery in my other FF, it was fully charged. So there you go, yet another weird flavor of failure for FF 1.0.

My firefly has been a rock, as well as two of my friends who bought them after trying mine. It's upsetting to hear about you guys having problems. I just used my Firefly after hitting my crafty/mighty almost exclusively for the last ~10 days, and the Firefly still did not disappoint me

I got my firefly about 2 weeks ago, and sure, the flavor is great, but I'm not at all pleased with the unit. I contacted customer service, and they sent me a new battery, but it's still the same. A battery will not even last 2 bowls, and the draw is pretty hard on the unit. Overall I'm pretty bummed with the purchase. Should have spent my cash on a haze. I've had quite a few vaporizers too, so it's not like I'm new at this.
