FlowerMate Vapormax V/V5.0/V5.0S/V5 Pro

One question that's slightly off topic, I could do with a new grinder and just wondered what anyone recommends as doing the best grind for the Vapormax?
We aren't gonna get into a grinder discussion here, but 1-most vapes don't care what grinder you use, and this is one of those. 2-I like a 2 piece grinder unless the bud is really dry (shedding kief easily, making kief collection via a 4 piece almost necessary to avoid losing it). You don't have to pay out the ass to get a good grinder, despite what the SCS and SC fans will tell you. I've used a shitload of grinders over the years, and an under $20 Chromium/Sharp/whatever crusher works as well and lasts as long as the pricy brands for me. The nice thing about a 2 piece is that you can buy that high end brand and still not pay a lot, especially if you stay around 2" in size. Different story for a 4 piece and I just won't pay those inflated prices just so I can get a grinder with no burrs on it. This is a really good buy. I've used one for years and the anodizing is absolutely top rate-looks as good as when I bought it. The 4 piece version is also a great buy and has a removable screen- a really hard to find feature. You can check the herb grinders thread for advice if you want, but these days it's mostly an SCS fan club. Feel free to PM me as well, but let's stay on the FM topic here.

You don't need a fine grind with the flowermate. I prefer the course grind that the cheap ones with the metal shark teeth have instead of the ones that have the knife edge. You get longer lasting flavor and more sessions that way. The last session I stir the bowl which easily breaks down the very dry herb into a fine powder for complete extraction.

The stock FM mouthpiece screen already gets too easily clogged, so I would also go with a coarser grind if possible.

Actually the two edged teeth (front and back), like with the Mendo Mulcher, will provide a coarser grind. Once that design cuts through the bud, it just spins around with no further grinding taking place- tops for a coarse grind and useless for a fine grind. I'm not sure I know what you mean by shark tooth design. :hmm: If you have 4 edges (unlike the Mendo), you CAN get a fine grind, but with a 2 piece, how long you grind is the key. With a 4 piece your consistency is determined by the number of teeth and the hole size.
a fine powder for complete extraction.
I haven't found that necessary with this model, and I only go to the 2nd temp (violet). The ABV comes out coarse but completely and evenly toasted. I have vaped a fine grind once or twice, but the coarse does just fine with this type of design, so I prefer it, especially since I switched out the fine mesh screen for a standard ss screen (much easier to brush off and retain decent air flow).

So far I've found this model's herb chamber very easy to clean. Gotta give FM a big 'A' in that dept.

I agree that the chamber walls stay pretty clean. I have an FM V.

The screen in the bottom of the bowl worries me. Are the little holes getting filled with baked product? I tried to clean the bottom screen with some alcohol, q-tips and an exacto knife blade to scrape of the burnt on stuff. The results were okay.

Does anyone have other suggestions for cleaning the screen on the bottom of the bowl.

Anyone try wax in it yet?

I'm interested to hear the results of any brave soles that try running any concentrates through this thing.
I just did tried wax in it and it gets stuck to the sides so i just put some on the herb and if you are fairly charged, it does indeed work very well

Yes I think the question is not "is it hot enough to vaporize concentrates" but rather "how messy does it become"... (and "can you clean it afterwards"!!!)

By using flowers daily, the bowl on both our FM5's finally got stained and lost its shiny white aspect... The same happened to my Ascent though, and the bowl it has is glass lined...

In that other vape thread, someone reported having great success cleaning their bowl using "magic eraser". Maybe it could prove useful in the FM5 too?

I don't think you'll need the knife unless you plan to go a really long time between cleanings. Getting the bottom of the chamber clear of all crumbs when a bowl is finished can make it a lot easier to keep clean too. I've

As long as an alcohol swab comes out clean I'm happy. I don't usually worry about stains as long as I'm the one that put 'em there.

Noises in digitally temperature-controlled vapes are perfectly normal, what you are hearing is the pulse width modulation as the heater is turned on and off many times per second, with a variable frequency, to accommodate the feedback received by the sensor.

Hmmm, gotta remember not to have the unit turned on going thru the airport checkpoint.

Kinda like yelling "Hi, Jack!" on a plane......

Are you comfortable taking a Vape thru airport security with you carry on luggage? I have been leaving my Vape at home for plane trips.

mod note: Please stay on topic. There's already a thread for that

"I need my hand heater for my Reynolds Syndrome, Sir."

Probably not.

Actually, I am testing out a bare bones unit.

A Flameless lighter + metal or glass screens + glass stem-MP.

A throw away.

Ghetto simple. Won't know how it will work until I pick up my glass tube cutter when I get back tomorrow.:haw:

(Just a ghetto Ubie, I guess)

We have this item in stock 100 percent authentic with free priority shipping. You can check our feedback out. We have the flowermate v5.0s, and the flowermate v8.0. Below is a link.

The V8, everyone is stating that it stinks, so is it even worth 139.99?

mod note: This is the V5.0 thread. Please stay on topic.

@FrigginRights : the smell issue should be resolved in the production units, we will be fixed next week when I receive the second sample. Besides, you said your friend has one but you didn't specify if it stinked, you just said the taste was not so good...

If they get the vapor path right then the price will be justified I think. It will be the most powerful portable around to date, with very impressive battery capacity, variable temp control down to 1°F, some glass in the path, sturdy construction, pairs with the Ascent GonG...

I'm eager to be able to compare its taste and vapor production to my Ascent, as the latter has an excellent taste but can be easily overwhelmed if you draw anything harder than a light sip. But let's continue this discussion in the FM8 thread, shall we?

broke the glass mouthpiece trying to clean it. i'm using the drip tip from a kanger protank 2 as a temporary replacement...

more open airflow since i removed the mouthpiece screen. gets a little hot though. i've also been using an underdog mini basket screen as a spacer and screen and just lay it on top of the load.

If your unit was anything like mine, that "robot fart" taste is going to stick around for a while but will eventually fade.

Welcome aboard FC and to the world of vaping!

Yea , most of the smell is coming from the tape around the intake holes on the side . smells kinda different than the usual robot fart  all in all a great beginner vape , gonna get one as a gift to my friend to , and convert him to vaping !

Yeah that tape is polymide from what I was told by Smiss. Thanksfully I can assure you that it will eventually completely go away over time (but it took mine 2-3 full charges worth of empty burn-ins on red)

I'm still using my FM5 daily, and as its battery capacity is higher than my Ascent, I think it's the vape I'm using the most (but I prefer the Ascent taste and low temps)

I see. Still doing my burn ins , the battery capacity is really awesome , It takes so long to use up the power! I've been doing the burn ins directly in front of a fan , to increase airflow in the device . should I direct the fan to the chamber or the airholes on the side?
I definately wanna try a vape with good taste ,but is also easy to travel with(able to take apart and drenched in ISO) I was looking at the vapor genie website and I'm really digging the all stainless steel bat and the glass bat , which one would u recommend? i like the stainless steel one cuz it's pretty much unbreakable lol

You're drifting off-topic @Bebop! :)

I prefer glass because I can taste metals in general, and glass to me is one of the most neutral materials, it's completely inert. At the same time I'm uber cautious with my stuff, so I'm not afraid of breaking glass either but I can understand it might be a problem if you are clumsy.

The fan position shouldn't matter much but don't put the mouthpiece on.

Can't wait to test out v5.0 once I finish the burn ins
