Amsterdam Coffee Shops - Which Have Vaporizers To Use?

Seren

Away with the fairies
Hi everyone
So, I'm planning a trip to Amsterdam (whoop, whoop!)...... I've been quite a few times before, but always as a smoker. I now only vape, so I'm wondering whether any of you know which coffee shops offer use of a vaporizer or hire them out? I'm thinking it would be good to be organised before I go rather than waste time hunting for vaporizers when I arrive. Any suggestions??? :peace: :leaf:

Check out this link for a good list of coffeeshops with volcanos (and other vapes):

Great forum to get ready for a trip to the dam. Make sure to check out the coffeeshop reviews for up to date info on the best strains available.

My personal must visit place is Voyagers. Great people, tasty treats, and just a few blocks from Centraal Station. Oh, and some great weed!

Have fun!

Barneys is very commercial but they have volcano's on every table. The Kashmir Lounge also has a digital volcano. The Kashmir lounge is worth visiting IMO, its slightly out of central Amsterdam, is very friendly and has lots of high grade hash for low prices.
Siberie which has always been very friendly with nice high grade skunk has a few EQ's that you can use as well.

If your moving around Amsterdam I highly recommend renting a bike, its so much fun.

+1 for Amenesia. I went there in back in 2000. It had a real chilled vibe and they had chessboards and stuff to keep you amused. Speaking of good hash for low prices, when I went more recently I stayed at the Hotel Aalborg and there was a small coffee on the road behind it called "Nice Place". I'd recommend popping in there and having a look at what they've got for sale, the address is Van Ostadestraat 290. It's also right next to Sarphatipark which was a nice little spot, it's always good to relax in a park after you've been in the town for a bit IMO. There are also quite a lot of shops and places to eat in the area as well, I found it very convenient.

Since you've been before I imagine you know that buying cards that give you multiple trips on the trams works out cheaper than getting tickets individually, also it's a lot easier because you just scan then when you hop on and off. I haven't been for almost 5 years but I'm guessing it's still a similar system. Personally the last thing I want to do when stoned is deal with a load of change.

I know I've gone a little off-topic here but there were just a few things I thought I should share with my fellow FC members.

Thanks for all of your suggestions and links ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ - much appreciated!

I haven't yet used a Volcano or Verdamper - so I'll most definitely be giving them a go!!

I've never been to Voyagers or Amnesia - so must check them out - it's always a bonus when they sell good snacks too ;)

Treeman - I'm with you when it comes to the Kashmir Lounge - great place - as is the Blue Bird - which is one of my favourites!

If anyone else knows of other places with vaporizers, please keep the suggestions coming! :peace:

baba has a verdamper but very pricey menu...

Also for the life of you must check out azarius smart shop.
Give them an email let them know you'd like to sample some of the vapes they have. Was one of the best parts of my trip, convinced me NOT to get a Herborizer and instead I went with a VHW. However my wife saw how much I loved the VerDamper and bought me one!

The waitresses at Baba were making small talk along the lines as Holy Crap we've never seen anyone keep ripping that thing and still keep packing more.

I have to say that I find amnesia shit. Badly flushed weed and rude moroccan looking budtender. Contaminated hash...

Voyagers is THE place as lovinlivinlife has mentioned. Barneys has a volcano on every table. Quite a few shops have at least one vape. I think you'll be fine.

Also I believe the Azarius shop have a testing section. Show some interest and you can try a few new ones out. Bring your own weed obviously. edit: oops S1N3 beat me to it..

It's been a while since I went and "judged" the cup but I had a great time at Kashmir and the Greenhouse. Gotta stop in at Barneys at some point though, Bulldog as well.

I've just returned from Amsterdam and was wanting to help out fellow vapers with my experiences from there but seeing as this is my first post i was unsure as to whether I should continue in this thread or create a new one as it could be quite an in-depth account of my 2.5 days there....any advice?

I'm thinking you should do a new post in Vaporization Discussion, something like Vape Experience and Coffeeshop Experience in Amsterdam.

The Amsterdam Coffeeshop Directory website has a section called Travelogues to discuss AMS trips.

I'd love to read about your experience there and that of others.
I was there in May and could add some experiences too.....

Great, thanks, I shall do that. It may take a couple of days for me to make it as extensive, detailed and helpful as I want it to be in gratitude to the info I got from this thread as a starting point. I shall also include regular coffeeshops and smoking-friendly places that don't sell.

Not been for years, and not sure if it has a vapourizer - but the Bluebird is really nice and plush, great selection and it's very clean and airy in there.

Hi FC members,

I’m a newbie to vaping and this forum. I began 2 months ago when I bought an Arizer Solo. That’s all I’d ever tried until this past weekend when I visited Amsterdam with friends. I was researching where to go to find coffeeshops with vaporizers prior to departure and this new thread I’m writing is a continuation of the following very useful thread I’d consulted beforehand: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/amsterdam-coffee-shops-which-have-vaporizers-to-use.10252/ Below are more details on a place-to-place basis but some initial general observations for novices such as me are:

· Some of the coffeeshops with vaporizers only allowed you to use them if you bought bud from there.
· All the vaporizers I used all specified no hash.
· I always had to get vaporizer parts from the budtenders before being able to start, sometimes involving a deposit.
· When smoking, some places allowed you to mix with tobacco and remain indoors, others allowed you to smoke weed and herbal mix indoors but tobacco outside.
· I always got to use a vaporizer anywhere I went. Everywhere I went no one was vaping, except at Happy Feelings. Its use doesn't seem widespread at all thankfully so we can still get to them.
· It was pointed out to me that it’s good etiquette to dispose of the spent bud when done before returning the chamber to the budtender.
· From what I could tell, when purchasing weed the minimum weight was 1g everywhere I went.
· I’m not really going to comment on strains or quality of cannabis product as it’s all better than most of the rubbish I have to put up with where I live so I was just happy to have a choice, this is about general vaporizer availability.
· I think I kind of understand other vapers’ comments I’ve read when referring to "there not being a ceiling” when vaping. On the two evenings I spent there I was floating sky high but could have kept going had they not all shut at 1am.

COFFEESHOPS WITH VAPORIZERS
Abbreviations:
V = Vaporizers
VD = Volcano Digit
SS = Self Service
€ = Deposit cost in Euros
OBP = Obligatory Bud Purchase
HCNADA = Hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks available
L = Location

Siberië, Brouwersgracht 11.
V: 2xArizer Extreme Q’s on 2 small tables opposite the budtender. In working condition (however I only used one). SS.
€: 10 - 20
Staff: Helpful, showed me how to use it.
OBP: I got bud here so I don't know whether it’s one of those places where you had to buy bud (and not just drinks) to use the equipment.
Notes: Friendly, chilled, very few tourists, HCNADA. My first port of call and the only venue on my trip that had Arizer. Divided into 2 areas, one for vaping and one for smoking. Do not make/take a phonecall in here!……I’d been off the plane an hour, I didn’t realise the etiquette. Small selection of vapes on sale.
L: Western Main Canals, close to main train station but far enough from main tourist hub to not be overrun with them (myself included of course). Just past Singel canal.

Voyagers, Geldersekade 2.
V: 1xVD by the budtender, to the right-hand side. In working condition. SS.
€: No
Staff: Really, really friendly, helped an already-vaped me learn how to use the Volcano for the first time and they didn’t mind me using my bud from Siberië.
OBP: No
Notes: I imagined myself looking like a crackhead when seen by people walking past outside because if you’re vaping you’re right by the window. Lack of space makes it slightly awkward if there are more than 2 of you unless you’re lucky and the table besides the Volcano happens to be empty and some of your group can sit there. Loads of traffic in/out of this small but busy coffeeshop that has a feeling of rave culture about it. A no-nonsense hardcore stoner hub. HCNADA. Not the cleanest of places.
L: Central. Very close to main train station in a touristy area but not really on a main thoroughfare so there aren’t hundreds of people going past all the time.

Greenhouse Centrum, Oudezijds Voorburgwal 191.
V: 1xVD on the bar. Defective. The green stop/start button for the air flow barely responded. Making it stop was harder than starting it, leading to overly-inflated balloons (and that being a novice I didn’t realise I could just pull off heating chamber and balloon, I just expected the equipment to function) that the bartenders soon lost their temper and accused me of being dangerous.
€: 10 - 20
Staff: Unimpressed with service, attitude & equipment so I never returned. Unfriendly.
OBP: Yes
Notes: HCNADA. Unsure about alcoholic. Nicely done out but really busy and up-its-own-behind. It’s a ‘celebrity’ kind of place.
L: Central. Teetering on the edge of being right in the thick of the tourist/red light area. Same canal as Bulldog Hotel. Loads of human traffic.

Bluebird, Sint Antoniesbreestraat 71.
V: 2xVD on a sidebar. In working condition (however I only used one). SS.
€: 10
Staff: The budtender looks like Brian May and isn’t the friendliest person I’ve ever met. Not very willing to answer bud questions either. On the other hand all the bartenders and floor staff were really friendly.
OBP: No (I think) but I did buy some on my first visit there so can’t say 100% as I kept returning so a) he either remembered me (which I doubt) or b) there’s no requirement to buy bud.
Notes: HCNADA. Very compact and quite crammed due to lack of space. Lots of traffic, popular with tourists.
L: Eastern Main Canals, down the road from Nieuwmarkt but within range of main tourist area. Handy.

Happy Feelings. Kerkstraat 51
V: 5xDe Verdampers, 1 per table. In working condition (I tried 3 of them). SS.
€: 10 - 20.
Staff: Really friendly, accommodating & helpful.
OBP: No
Notes: HCNADA from vending machines (a downside IMO). I was here day and night on several occasions and only saw 2 other people vaping. A local regular who vapes showed me how to use the Verdamper. Staff and locals are really friendly and repeatedly let me use the vapes using weed bought elsewhere so I always tipped. Clean, smooth tones and soft lighting and a great atmosphere. Small, intimate place. My favourite coffeeshop on this trip. Don’t let the turnstile by the bar put you off.
L: Southern Main Canals. Far enough out of the main tourist areas to not be overrun or too busy.

The Dolphins, Kerkstraat 39

V: Maybe 2 or 3, unsure as I didn’t get past the front desk…
€: Unknown…..
Staff: Arrogant, unhelpful
OBP: Yes
Notes: The place looked nice however the staff were not interested in me spending money on drinks or selling smaller than 1g (I had more than enough already)….so I left.
L: Southern Main Canals, close to Happy Feelings.

Club Media, Gerard Doustraat 83-85
V: 1xVD on a table to the side by itself (from what I could see). In working condition. You grind the weed, they operate the Volcano and fill the bag, which was the ‘partybag’ as they described it, about twice the length of the regular one, and then they pass it over to you.
€: No
Staff: 1 person doing absolutely everything so things took a little time but she was super friendly and helpful. When she got too busy to do everything she trusted me to use the Volcano myself.
OBP: Yes, normally, but she let us in “just this one time” once I politely asked.
Notes: The place is clean, relaxing, friendly, colourful, spacious and comfortable! HCNADA. We were the only tourists in there. I would have definitely gone back given more time. The bud counter is right by the entrance. To enter the main coffeeshop space you need to be buzzed through a door by a member of staff.
L: The Old South, in De Pijp (The Pipe) area.

Barney’s Lounge, Reguliersgracht 27
V: 1xVD on a table to the side by itself (from what I could see) close to budtender. In working condition I assume. It didn’t seem to be SS, more like Club Media, from what I recall from my brief conversation with the budtender.
€: Unknown.
Staff: Seemed friendly enough however they had an obligatory buy-to-vape requirement to use the VD. Sportingly though he did offer to sell just 0.5g which I would have probably agreed to, had I not been on my way to a meal with pals who weren’t interested in vaping.
OBP: Yes
Notes: The place is like a swanky upmarket bar. Clean, bright, colourful and looked comfortable. HCNADA.
L: Southern Main Canals, in a lovely residential area.

MISTAKEN IDENTITIES
De Dampkring, Handboogstraat 29 – I went in having read they had vaporizers but they didn’t, I asked the budtenders. It was busy during the day but looked nice and trippy in there. A bit like a Hobbit's house.
Nes Café, Nes 33I went here after reading that this place had vaporizers but it is no longer a coffeeshop, weed friendly or called Nes Café.

COFFEESHOPS WITHOUT VAPORIZERS

These are places I personally went in and asked if they had vaporizers but they didn’t.
Green Place, Kloveniersburgwal 4. Friendly. They let me smoke my own bud in there.
Kadinsky, Langebrugsteeg 7a. Seemed swanky.
Stones Café, Warmoesstraat 91. They let me smoke my own bud in there. Loud, sports TV, British.

Great write-up @kerkdream, thanks for compiling that. Hopefully others can chime in with their experiences. I was there about 13 years ago judging the cup, and remember the greenhouse and the bulldog which I also visited in the late 1980s. I visited a few others, will post again if/when I find my notes.

I do have to say that the prospect of sharing a used volcano bag with strangers doesn't sound very hygienic, if I go back and do a volcano tour I may be tempted to bring my own bag/valve along :uhh:
