Well, thanks for all your help guys, this is a vape I had my step father buy for himself. He wanted a Pax like mine but I can't in good conscious advise anyone to get one- they are finiky little things and I know the Solo is a better option. I have forwarded all these suggestions to him and will report back. We live about 40 minutes drive from each other so I don't get to vape with him all the time. Regardless, I got him some great meds and hope he is getting the hang of the device.

Most user-unfriendly part of it IMO is how you set the cutoff, it's the tiny golden screw sitting on top of the blue box to the lower right. Since there's no display to tell you what it's set at, you kinda have to wing it, screw it one way and it gets closer to full charge, screw it the other way and it can cut off really early. Only reason I say "user-unfriendly" is because I played around with it a bit and ended up setting it really low, then really high, then too low again... had to sit there for a bit and let it charge, see where it cut off, then adjust the screw and see again. I really shouldn't have messed with it, the way @OF had sent it to me was perfect IMO and I think I got pretty darn close to it after messing with it.

Thanks very much for the additional feedback, I think we're mighty close.

I purposely didn't get into a lot of detail about the adjustment, just to see what the Beta Testers would do with it. Several of them can counted on to fiddle.......

So here's what I think is a useful reset. Back the screw off so the unit charges normally 'mid range' (say step 4, 5, or 6 on the battery level). This is peak charging current typically. Then run the adjustment up until it trips out. Finally, turn the screw back the other way 8 full turns from the spot it tripped at normal current and use that. This also compensates for your individual Solo/charger/battery (they vary some, I'm using a compromise).

Inside the Gadget 'reads' the current flow in 'counts'. Typical values for maximum current are about 100 counts. The adjustment range is (currently) 50 to 125 counts (that might change for Pilot Release). The preset value is 77 ATM. That's about .55 Amps (max typically is a bit under .7). The screw is 3 counts per turn (25 turns divided by (125-50)). The direction is not fixed yet ("we can change that in Software", 3rd biggest lie for Softheads......). The current Beta units are 'backwards', that is the level for the trip goes down as you turn CW, meaning it charges longer and longer (cuts off later) as you dial it up. This seems to make more sense to users and will, of course, get fixed on release (not that that means the range or direction can't be modified later by changing the program.

So, for all but a few units (not yours' I think Q man, you should have the latest program) you turn it CW (longer charging) until it stays on to charge 'mid range'. Then, dial it down (CCW) until it trips. Then back up (CW) 8 turns. A better written set of instructions (including the 'reset procedure') will of course be part of the release. And hopefully a test fixture will ensure all units are preset to the correct 'window' (say 76 to 76 counts?) before shipment.

I gave some serious thought to not having an adjustment, but I think most guys who'd be inclined to fiddle with it can follow a reset routine like above? All the later prototypes had this feature. And it's nice to customize......

Well, thanks for all your help guys, this is a vape I had my step father buy for himself.

You're welcome.

Sounds to me like the step father lucked out step son wise. Kudos to you both! Longer life and better health are worth sharing.......

I've had kinda the opposite experience. I'm on my third Solo due to them keep failing on me, the first and my current one didn't/don't have the best flavour and had/have a tight draw, the second one I had was amazing though! Great flavour and little draw restriction too, I miss that one :(

If I understand correctly you have a 10mm male like in oil rigs right? If so, you would need a female-female adapter, more precisely a 10mm to 14mm female. One similar to this http://www.ioffer.com/i/10mm-female-to-10mm-female-adapter-ogb-glass-564521652 but with one of them being a 14mm female instead of a 10mm. I didn't see any of those specifically in his listing but you can message him and ask him to work one up for you. Then you get a 14mm female to put stems/GonGs in.

Whats more hilarious is seeing me yell at my phone because it wont let me delete that 2nd post :bang: :hmm:

You can't delete it. Edit to 'please delete' and then use the 'report key' to ask the Mods to delete the post, they alone can do that.

When I finally got my PVHEGonG and hooked it up with my Hydrotube, I was quite impressed with improvement over the Solo with stock stem. For people who have tried the Solo with a Hydrotube, and then Also a decent bubbler, how much of an improvement was the bubbler?

I prefer the bubbler because it lets me see the vapor better which helps me gauge the hit.

A question for the Solo illuminati : my ears have been ringing with the new Solos with "M1A1" serial numbers, I just noticed mine from the recent drop with different serial number designators: MIG2.

Have they moved on? What makes for the difference....

Nothing. It's just a number. Arizer uses that as a batch number. You're solo is newest version.
