It leaks less but still way too much IMO
Still leaks from where ...the mouthpiece? Does it leak continuously, or does the vapor leakage taper off with time? At what temp is this happening ...and does it leak more at higher temps and leak less at lower temps, or leak about the same amount at any temp?

I went with a full bowl no pad lowered the temp to to 350 and a finer screen and got some nice quality light vapor with good flavor. Noticed much less vape leak with the lower temp.

I'll try again at a higher temp and see if the screen and my draw makes a difference

Try just filling the bowl and setting the temp at your highest prior uses, but don't draw on it at all - see if it produces vapor leakage on its own just sitting there.

No it does not leak at all. Only post draw.
That's GREAT news! Vapor leakage could very well be "mostly" residual post-draw vapor still within the bowl AND the cooling compartment working its way out through the mouthpiece, as well as perhaps a bit of still active conduction and radiant heat working its way out from the load. Sounds perfectly normal to me, with relatively negligible loss in terms of efficiency.

That does sound like cooling chamber left-overs but for someone like me who likes to just take a few hits every once in awhile, that could be kind of a drag. I hate waisting vapor. For me, that leaked vapor could equal a hit.

That's my habit as well and I just don't like wasted VAPE or flavor and I need odor stealth, but I'm betting that I'll learn a curve where I just intuit when to turn off the vape for the desired amount I want.

Again let me just say that I am very estatic about this thing. Even the way it looks, sits on the table, feels in my hand and in a pocket-it's all..sort of special. Lol

Looks like a mini Alienware PC gaming tower...

So for those who like 2 puffs and are concerned about odor I just turned it off once it hit the target temp and I got 2 very beautiful and robust tokes and one lighter one. Swung the mouthpiece closed. No leak at all or wasted vapor. I've got a lead pipe with wings over this thing!

You could always drill a carb hole into the side of the cooling chamber so that you could clear it between draws.
Excellent thought! He would then, however, always have to concentrate on covering up the carb hole with every draw. I suppose that wouldn't be so bad though if it eliminated the vapor leak that seems troublesome for him. If it doesn't work out so well for whatever reason, a replacement cooling chamber is easily obtainable.

Oil pad with smaller loads seems like the way to go for me. Still debating between Crafty/Mighty, but leaning towards Crafty. I don't think I'm a heavy enough user for the battery life to matter, the app looks fun, and I'd rather have the smaller size given the identical performance.

Does the app default to Celsius every time like the Mighty or does it remember if you were using Fahrenheit?

Finally received my Crafty today after ordering on Halloween and 15 days of waiting. I got lucky by bumping into the same usps truck that attempted delivery 2 hours earlier according to the tracking info while I was walking home. I saw him making a random delivery and had to ask him if he just happened to have my package. He invited me into the truck to look and the rest is history! I guess that's what I get for trying to save 10% off retail and avoid paying taxes. I've been following this thread like a fiend and thank everyone for all the great suggestions. You guys rock!

@spoutti, if you kill the battery within 4 months, why not using the 2 years warranty and make S&B replace your battery for free ?
Its 1 year for the battery. I see myself needing 2 like the solo to give the crafties a proper recharging routine. This is a lot of dough for me. And I fear, like it happened with my solos, that their definition of dead batteries happens after I feel they are dead. And me buying a crafty is highly hypothetical, but I like the stirless aspect of the crafty.

Great Scott!
To get my messy messy mouthpiece, all I did was grind it with the included grinder from S&B and use the included screen. 5 hours of use on that particular crafty at the time.

I've swapped to the finer screen, hopefully that helps.

My app remembers the previous setting. It always shows Farenheit when it opens.
Thanks for the correction. I guess I had just assumed that it defaulted to Celsius from reading the Mighty thread. Since I chose to use the Celsius settings, I never even tried the Fahrenheit settings tbh.

I can't actually test it at the moment as my boss has "borrowed" my unit for the last few days. Looks like I'll be ordering another one as he has decided that I should sell my unit to him. Boss knows best I guess. :disgust:

I've never seen such even ABV. Unbelievably even.
I noticed this as well. It's probably the most "even" ABV that I've ever seen.

:peace:

Oil pad with smaller loads seems like the way to go for me.

My first bowl with the Crafty was a half-packed, lightly tamped down bowl of a Lotus stem and also couple of draws in It filled the Crafty bowl to the top actually so as I see it it doesn't hold that much. I find the Crafty to be rather economic I would say. My bro forgot to ship me the bag with the oil pad so I have no idea how little I can pack with it but it's already a sufficiently small bowl for me...

Even if the fine screen doesn't help that much, 5 hours of use on a portable w/o a clean is still pretty impressive

Vapor Sloth
I'm saving the fine screens for their intended purpose which is the filling chamber. After removing it several times I can't find any scratches in the bowl. I can't get my Crafty to ever leak vapor. Smell yes, vapor no. I'm starting to ease back on my draw a bit, that means I've dialed it back from a hoovering minute to like a gentle 30 seconds, and I am getting some really nice extended sessions of like 6 hits with great vapor production throughout. Love the shape of the mouthpiece, perfect. Also like the way Crafty encourages you to tilt your head back so you don't drool into the cooling unit.

Portable vaping like this is so liberating. Vaping in the garage, out in the yard, and in bed at night which is totally awesome btw . . . :ninja:

Some initial thoughts on crafty,

Scratches
Since it was mentioned removing the bottom screen scratches the inner walls I tried using a ceramic screen from vapor bros, it fits almost perfect but doesn't go all the way down, and your max temp is decreased. using the supplied brush and a coarse grind seems to do a fine job keeping the bottom screen spotless.

Leakage
The manual does state that preloading the herb before turning it on is best to preheat it, referring to the conductive heating. I tried blowing out the vapor to clear the chamber and there was slight visible vapor escaping. Not really an issue for me considering the size of the bowls and time of the sessions.

Power
It's good for everyone except those who like high temps (420-440f). I happen to be one of those people, and I would not hate a firmware update to unlock higher temps at all. The solo and cloud both get a darker abv. But it's ok S&B wants to confine the experience to sane levels and I can't hold it against them.

Grind
A coarse grind will keep it easier to keep clean, a fine grind will make more vapor.

Flavor
Very much yes.

Design
One button minimalist, less things to fail on the unit, I prefer this way.

Draw
It's nice and open, really great.

Bowl size
Small bowls could mean several bowls per session depending on tolerance.

Battery
It uses a single 18650 and the onboard power management appears to do smart things like not charge if the battery is too hot. Runtime is what I would expect given the battery tech available and the power requirements.

Features
Oh yeah the first vibrating/bluetooth connected vape, I'm now getting alerts on my tablet that my set temp has been reached and I can set the desired alert sound, how great. Also the lights flash in varying speeds to indicate the different states of battery capacity, this also happens upon power off.

App
It seems to stay always connected giving the current temp of the vape, so a cold vape could also double as an ambient thermometer.

Lights
If it flashes red/orange your unit has failed and you should cry.

ABV
Looks like cigarette tobacco, very nicely even golden brown.

Oh and unlike pretty much EVERY battery operated portable I've used from pax to firefly and everything in between...I left this in a cold car during a movie late last night. When I got back it was 4c according to the app, and the vape had no problem firing up and going to town.

If my firefly or pax got cold like that I'd have it acting like the battery was dead even if it was fully charged. So that will be nice during the winter.

Smell my cheese
I decided to finally put in an order for a crafty. Thinking of it as an early christmas present to myself!
Has anyone ordered to the UK off of S&B? Just wondering how long it normally takes.

I ordered my Mighty from them last Monday morning. Had it in my hands on Wednesday :)
