Discontinued The Herbalizer

Thanks dude, you're right - the Herbie is somewhat of a crapshoot being a brand new product, and having some restructuring of the company. This is also part of the reason why I sold mine. The Herbie is NOT 7X better than the Solo. I can live with the Herbie, but I can't live without my Solo. I do disagree that the Solo isn't in desktop territory, I can milk bigger, thicker clouds, and extract more out of my Solo than the Cloud, EVO, or Herbie. Ofcourse this is just my opinion and experience, and I can do this quite easily using the EpicVape E-nano GonG and glass.

For some reason I dropped out of the Crafty and Mighty threads as i've ruled them out for some reason, I think it was the battery life with the Crafty, or something...seals, cleaning? Anyways, this isn't the place, but I will revisit and reconsider, although I have much time because I don't need portability until the summer. Solo fills the niche pretty great for now, but I do appreciate your feedback.

Hey all!

It's been a while since I've been on this thread. As many of you know, I've been working on a Ceramic Herbalizer 18mm HT adapter. The development process was slow because there was a 1 month turnaround on orders! After a recently long wait (6 weeks) I emailed shapeways to complain. I was then told their partner for ceramic printing wasn't meeting expectations and they have now discontinued the ceramic 3D printing.

The bad news is I've had to pull the plug on a ceramic HT adapter.

The good news is, this is 3D printing, and I was easily able to convert my 3D model into a mold for my new upcoming line of Silicone SonG WPA's designed to convert your Herbalizer to a standard 18mm male fitting.

Since this part is cast from aquarium grade silicone, it is non toxic, vapor safe, and ISO/PBW safe for cleaning. Unfortunately it is a bit harder to cast, so the finished product won't look quite as nice as the 3D printed ceramic parts, but they work GREAT. And since I make them in-house, orders will be turned around in less than a week (unlike 30 days with the ceramic parts!)

I'm tweaking the design this week (and perfecting my casting process). I expect to have this item on my store within the next week.

That's awesome! Maybe connect with @lazylathe - he made me one pretty easily for like $1 worth of material. It worked PERFECTLY and using the HT with it was my preferred way of using the Herbie. Maybe contact Herbie and see if they will buy a massive batch and throw them in with every Herbie? Again, good karma to you for taking the initiative! Cheers.

Yeah, I could do mine really cheap if I used regular silicone. Though I value the health and safety of my customers. I'll be making mine from expensive aquarium grade silicone - designed to be non-toxic to saltwater fish, this shit is damn near edible!

The biggest problem I've been having is bubbles in the cast - most parts require a second casting to get a nice finish. Though I am experimenting this week with using a "flavor injector" used for cooking to inject the silicone into the mold. hopefully that will work better than my current method.

Hopefully that will help. In the world of motorcycle aluminum frames, they jumped up a big notch in quality when they used pressure casting techniques. Granted, your "flavor injector" won't be as high a pressure but it should help fill the mold with fewer bubbles. Good luck

@Ratchett

Just wanted to re-inform everyone that the silicone I use is a medical grade silicone safe for human use and does not off gas anything.

Mine has been in use for 10 months and is still in perfect condition.

It is cheap to make because of the quick and easy processing, NOTE because the material is cheap...

RE herbie halogen:
Yes, but the warranty will probably be up by the time the halogen pops. I can imagine it would not be cheap to replace at all. And yes totally agree that @Engineer disappearing is a slight worry, he was great from what I've seen/heard.

RE crafty:
Given the reviews are saying that it is a pocket plenty. And that it is on par with the good desktops and better than most other desktops.I personally think it's price is justified.

3x better than the solo? By that logic, considering people are paying $1000 for a herbie, is the herbie 7x better than a solo?

Don't get me wrong I love my solo, but it ain't in desktop territory with respect to output. Many FC'ers and reviewers all concur that the crafty is phenomenal on all fronts and worth every penny. To have s&b plenty vapor quality in my pocket is mind boggling.
I would be able to sell my solo easy... If the need arised... I just have too much sentimental attachment to sell it now (my first vape:love:)

Edit: .... Plus the crafty is smaller and more portable....

I posed the question on previous posts re lifespan of the bulb and yes I am sure it will be expensive but not real sure until someone has to buy one and most likely will burn out after warranty period. I still have and use all the time lately, my original Solo with the ceramic bowl. I also have a newer one with the SS bowl but find it needs cranking up to higher temps to match the ceramic plus I feel the flavor is a bit better with the ceramic. I actually wish they still made the ceramic bowls even though they had a few teething prob`s with the ceramic flaking with the first ones.
I am sure the Crafty and Mighty are excellent vaps after owning and selling my Plenty however I am now over the deep drawing that you need for good convection vaps due to now irritating my diaphragm. The fan assist on the herbalizer is going to be the way for me. It seems from the reviews to produce much better vapor then the Extreme Q (on fan assist) which I have also sold. For me now all vaps are going to have to lend a hand with vapor production. What about the Solo you may ask. The Solo seems to be different for me in many ways and doesnt irritate my diaphragm even though it is harder to draw then most and its combined convection and conduction work well. I find the vapor and flavor great and have gotten used to the harder draw and I guess in some ways it makes the vapor from a lot of the convection type vaps to 'airy' for me now. I like nice "bitey" thick vapor as opposed to "airy" medium vapor.
Anyway Im sure the herbalizer will show up some faults over time but at the moment I WANT ONE!!

Herbalizer session tonight!!

Sweet Tooth packed to the brim, temp at MAX, bubbler attached...
Fan assist rips yield huge clouds that are super tasty!!!
Then i think about it and i have been medicated for 2 solid hours and it feels like minutes ago...
Was just planning on a return visit to the vape too but i think i am still good for a while!

For me Herbie has been an awesome machine, every session has the exact same, predictable results!!
Not like a few of my other vapes where it can be hit and miss...

She may get looked over on occasion but i always go back to her!

Crafty and mighty are both mixed conduction and convection.

Like my compadre above I decided to pull out the ol' Herbie and put a new spin on the welcome back sesh. Fit my bent solo stem over the Herbie bowl with some ssv tubing (btw thanks for the idea @Been Vapin ) and started at 375 with the most delicious tasting vapor that I have ever exhaled. Reminded me why the herbalizer is one of a kind! I'm about to be KO'ed..minivap and Herbie are kicking my ass

Edit-large is an understatement !!!:bowdown::bowdown:

It took me 7 months, but I finally hooked up Herbalizer to a proper water tool using 3/8in silicone tubing. Even one bowl is seeming to get me uncomfortably high. That is not like me at all. I'm using the same material as always. With water @445°F I am getting huge flavorful rips that are cool, big, potent, etc.

The thing is I always prefer to Vape dry, but not with Herbie when using the higher temps. Not quite sure what's going on. Another thing is I notice with the WT my ABV is a lighter color with green specks on the top. I'll have to come back and revisit this post in a little bit. Over medicated.

Try adding two aroma pads on top of your bowl and vape away!
You will find nice darl ABV and still have great taste and huge clouds!!

Welcome to the WT world!!

Hey All, anyone have a phone number for Herbie support? I've submitted a claim on their website last Friday, and have not heard from anyone to date. (Not faulty or broken, but in serious need of a calibration, so I was asking them how to proceed...)

Thanks!

619-507-0085 It's on their website. I wouldn't expect a call soon though, my customer service experience has been less than stellar with failed promises of call backs. Now that I have sold my Herbie, I don't really care anymore, but I don't like false promises.
Thanks @biohacker... much appreciated!

I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow and will report back on results of attempted contact....

My friend just sent his Herbie back for recalibration last week. The thing was running cool and around serial number 1600sh, I think.

Meanwhile, I just used a concentrate pad on top of a fat pack @445°F with fan assist and just almost combusted! Holy shit that was dangerous. If I looked at it under the scope it probably would look burnt. Reminded me a lot of Sublimator ABV. All pucked up and super cooked.

Herbie continues to impress me. I will throw up some pics of my setup later.

Just did some more experiments with the concentrate pad and without. It seems like the concentrate adds to conduction, and immobilizes the herb in the bottom of the bowl. The rips that were about to combust reminded me ALOT of the EVO when it was running too hot, dirty ELB, overpacked, etc. The aftertaste reminds me a lot of using the Sublimator at around 35 watts as well.

I filled a bowl, took two big rips off it. Gave the bowl a solid shake and then inserted a concentrate pad. The end of the rip tasted like it was about to combust.

Also Herbie is fan is powerful enough to percolate the glass piece I am using. Its awesome.

I'd only owned/used a Plenty and a Pax for almost 2 years. I loved the vapor from the Plenty, but found myself using the half pack method of the Pax to conserve my stash. And when I used it more I realized how much I hated the vapor from my Pax. So I sold both and bought the Herbie on sale for $584. I had the Herbie for a month and long story short, I sold it for $620 on CL.

The vapor quality was great in all aspects, expect when compared to the vapor from the Plenty it wasn't as hard hitting/fast acting. With each hit of the Plenty you immediately feel the effects and get blazed quickly. You'll most often cough (but not from smokiness, just from pure cannabinoids). With a hit off the Herbie you'll get a great taste and the vapor is the furthest thing from harsh, but you'll get more of a clean medicated high instead of a strong blazed feeling. It's hard to describe but Storz & Bickel gets you the highest as possible off of really clean vapor, while the Herbie will get you really high off of the cleanest vapor possible.

The Herbie is better than the Plenty in almost every other way but I just missed the experience of the Plenty a lot and for the $730 list price I wasn't expecting to miss any other vape.

Any way with the $620 I just bought
-"like new" used Plenty on ebay(I asked for a lot of pics) $200
-New Crafty Vaporizer(I bugged Vapor Nation for the 10% off and got it plus the free stuff the give!) $359.10
-Plenty wear & tear kit (GREAT DEAL http://www.puffitup.com/Plenty-Wear-and-Tear-Kit-p/plentyreplacementkit.htm) $8.95

That's $568.05, still have $51.95 left. I'm going to buy a micro USB power bank and keep the rest. I'm rolling with Stroz & Bickel. Herbie is a great product but really overpriced and overhyped in my opinion.

I've used the herbalizer myself and I own a volcano classic, both have their pros and cons. As you said, and I agree, the storz and Bickel vapor is a little bit superior (at least in my opinion, and I only own the volcano). However, the herbalizer heats up to its temperature in a matter of seconds, as opposed to a couple of minutes for my volcano. Also, it can be used bag or whip (with or without the fan assist) as opposed to only bag or only whip. You said it yourself, other than vapor quality the herbalizer beats the plenty in almost every way. If you are going to say the herbalizer is overpriced than so is the volcano, and plenty of other vapes.

Edit: I also forgot to add the the herbalizer has a smaller chamber, which is better in my opinion because it helps conserve.

Yeah, I agree Storz & Bickel is a bit over priced too. Thats why I bought a used Plenty and the cheapest wear and tear kit I could find, but to me charging $730 says a lot. And I don't want to say I was expecting more from the Herbie but I expected better. Particularly from the type of high it gives. It may be just what some people expected, but its just overpriced and a little over hyped imo.

Edit. Small bowl? Thats where the Crafty comes in ;)

@QualityVapes & @NewToVaping

I've experienced slightly differing highs with all my vapes throughout the years and attribute it to what I call a vape signature, unique to each vape. Now one could argue that this makes no sense given it's the herb that matters, so I tried to classify and use the experience. I have found mostly-conduction vapes to give more of a stoney effect, while mostly-convection vapes give more of a head high, or sativa effect. Every vape has its own combination of these types of heat and that's what I think lends to the slightly differing experience between vapes. This is all subjective, however, just as your opinion of the Herbie high versus the Volcano high is. I honestly think there are too many variables (including our own chemical makeup that fluctuates over time) to figure this effect out.

What I have experienced is a tolerance build up to a particular vape's effect. I call this vape signature tolerance. I rotate at least three vapes. Rotating daily keeps this tolerance down altogether and allows me to focus on a particular strain's characteristics. Sometimes I will use one vape for two weeks until that tolerance builds up and then switch to a different one. In this case, when I switch I almost always experience a more intense effect. If you guys still have both vapes it would be interesting for you to use one exclusively for a couple of weeks and then switch to the other, and vice versa. I also think your perception of Herbie vs Volcano (or any two vapes, for that matter) would be strengthened or challenged by rotating them out each day for a good comparison.
