A few QWISO related questions

I've been making some QWISO lately from some year-old OD trim/bud that needs to be used up, but am running into an issue with nasty residue being left on the nail after a dab, and odd flavors.

Same here. Tried purging in the oven and it doesn't seem to help.

It tastes fine when I vaporize it, only at high heat am I getting the nasty taste. Is my nail too hot maybe?

What are material are you purging on?

I've been using mason jars for the initial extraction, which gets poured through a strainer into a metal bowl, which I then filter through coffee filters into drinking glasses, that ultimately get poured into a pyrex baking dish for evaporation.

Perhaps high heat could be part of the issue with the flavor. I'll try dabbing some at a lower temperature and see if that helps.

You could try the ss mesh screens. You can get them at a way smaller micron than a coffee filter.

But to me it sounds like its your starting material. Things such as nutrition that was not properly flushed from the plant before harvesting can cause that.

It could be that as well, although I've tried running material from a few different gardens and still get the same result. It's B grade trim/bud though, so that could still be it.

Im no expert but at the 710, one did talk about the nutrients being a possible cause. I have messed around with free leaves and made bho with whip it premium, boro tube and coffee filters. I had that problem too. I started using only the best of what I got out of those trim and leave bags and the build up stoped but there was an off taste I couldn't quite get ride of. I have and vac too and slowly raised the heat untill I turned it too runny oil. After doing that a few time I chalked it up to the material. I think it is harder to flush leaves or something like that.

do you have access to dry ice? I switched from using my freezer to a cooler with dry ice. Colder alcohol to start with and I'm super happy with the results.
although i'm using ethanol not iso

Anyone have a specific brand of 99% ISO they use? I would get mine from were I work, it was a real good brand and it was actually 99.9% iso with .1% water. But they recently started using a different no brand ISO that I can't look up online to verify the only other ingredient in it is water.

Anyone else have a reliable brand they use that's 99% or higher and you know for sure the only thing else in it is water?
