Hi @Stu, when can I get the glass adapter you are using in the video, I happen to have the same size silicon tubing and all I need is an adapter like the one you use.

Edit: Sorry, I meant where, not when.

I blindly think the materials used are not cheap plastic or will pose any health risks, it was conceived and born in Germany, thats all I need. I certainly don't need another vape that ends up on the shelf(s) either but for the first time in a while I am excited about a flower vaporizer.
Call me cynical but I'm not sure the Crafty is safely designed. Just to be the devil's advocate:

If I understand correctly, the air is drawn through an aluminum heater ( AlMgSi = Aluminum Magnesium Silicon to be exact). S & B paid for a study to see if the Volcano AlMgSi heater gave off any aluminum & they concluded that it did not. However, reading the study, there was aluminum in the air path, but they chalked it up to aluminum that was already present on one of the filters in the study. I'm not yet convinced. Aluminum is pretty toxic & has been linked to Alzheimer's among other diseases & I want to be sure it's safe before I inhale.

And if there's a heater in the air path are there soldered connections or any electronics? I don't know, but I haven't been able to find out. Does anybody know?

And while I guess that some plastics can be used safely at higher temperatures, others can not. And how can you tell if you're inhaling toxins? Aluminum & plastic are two materials I don't want deep in my lungs/bloodstream.

Again, I'm being cynical, but I've had enough experience to know that if a company wants to sell something the truth can be obscured. I'm not saying the Crafty is a toxic killer, but I try to avoid ingesting man made materials. And just because the Crafty works well, seemingly very well, I'm not ready to throw caution to the wind & hope for the best, until I'm sure it's safe.

S&B is the ONLY vaporizer company that I know of that submits their product to safety regulatory institutions for approval. Now granted, that's still no guarantee that it's safe, but considering the approval that they have received from these institutions, I would say their product is probably safer, or at least just as safe to use than any other product on the market.

I would be more concerned with the fertilizers and pesticides in the weed than the S&B product that is vaporizing it.

And please understand that those that know me KNOW that I am NOT a Volcano or a Plenty fan in the least, but my dislike for those products has absolutely nothing to do with safety concerns.

You can find them pretty much anywhere. Your LHS might have them, and local glassblowers can easily make them. A quick ebay search found this.

I understand your concerns but what vaporisers are truly 100% safe?

I got the solo because it is SS heater with glass stem... But then I later found out the air is partially drawn through the base (which contains the circuit boards and batterys).

At least s&b go through testing to confirm (sure the testing can be bought but that's an expensive undertaking for something they don't really need to prove anyway).

Looking at my crafty everything seems to be isolated quite well.
The battery is separated (visible air gap between battery and heating chamber).
The base (which I suspect contains the circuits) is air gapped from the heating chamber and the air is drawn from outside directly into the heating chamber tube bypassing the battery and circuitry.

It looks like they have isolated things very well. But regarding the wires to the aluminium heater.... No idea...
Someone will have to open one up... I'm not willing to sacrifice my crafty.... But given the above I think that's a pretty good indication they have given these things careful thought.

Edit: not sure about aluminium's safety being used as a heater

I've only used a Volcano a few times & I've never read the Volcano thread- so some of the safety issues may have been hashed out in that thread. But just to be clear, when you say S & B submit their products to safety institutions for approval, it sounds like Harvard or the German equivalent have given their seal of approval. But in reality, at least in the aluminum study, it was just a local laboratory. And who was paying for the study? S & B, and we all know that can influence the outcome.
That said, I'd feel better about a German vape than one made in China.

@Stu

What size tubing are you using for the gong connection?

My tubing is not as snug and want to order something better suited.

The following is the institution that S&B submits for approval:

What is also worthy of note is that Israel is the worlds leader in governmental medical marijuana research and the ONLY vaporizer that they have approved not only for use in their research but also for patient use in their hospitals is the Volcano and the reason for this is the thorough testing that they have done on the product.

"The miniVAP is the only vaporizer to have been submitted to the same test lab at Leiden University in the Netherlands for performance analysis as the Volcano. It matched the Volcano for THC levels and temperature reliability as well as lack of vapor impurities, off-gassing, etc."

I wonder if the Crafty and Mighty will be tested too???

The one minute timeout is a pain in the ass IMO. My draws never seem to reset it, so I have to power it back on constantly.

The vape critics review mentions that quickly pressing the power button resets the shutoff timer without shutting it off.

You actually have to shut it off and then back on. It's not hard labor, but still a PITA. Most of my hits don't seem to register with the unit, so I need to power the unit back on after a minute more times than not.

Pro tip: In "settings" change your smartphone alarm tone to your default text message tone. You'll get an audio "text message" from the Crafty when it's ready to be vaped.

Also, the "Vibration Smartphone" setting doesn't do anything for me. Anyone else?

Sorry Stu but I disagree. I bump the switch not only to extend the timer but to turn on the Bluetooth as well. Seems if Crafty is plugged in then the BT is on but it sleeps when on battery. From the Crafty manual page 16 . . . :peace:

Mine works fine. I like the "Note" tone best . . . :)

Hi, it's off-topic but I would to ask to you, Iwien, if you already tried the Firewood about your vaping style (FW is very efficient to handle small load, imho)

But I think your incomed FV fits the bill perfectly!

Have not tried the FF but from everything that I have read, it would work really for me.
But yeah, should be getting the PV either today or tomorrow. New toy. Kind of excited.

I was drawing on the cooling unit (brand new from my wear and tear set) and all I could taste was plastic.
You know all the S&B products come in disposable plastic bags, perhaps if you let it air out for a day or a week the taste of the shipping bag would dissipate.

And if there's a heater in the air path are there soldered connections or any electronics? I don't know, but I haven't been able to find out. Does anybody know?
I have it directly from S&B that "all air directing materials are food-safe, medical-grade, and heat-resisitant."

I would like to see a citation for that statement, especially since it's off topic. By the way, the quoted statement is logically false, because the Volcano has also been submitted to the same test lab as the Volcano, or in other words the Volcano is a vaporizer, too. The Minivap could be the only OTHER vaporizer to have been submitted, perhaps, but lacking a link to the study the statement smells fishy to me.

While I agree that links to quoted studies helps validate those studies, I also think that it's a bit of a stretch to imply that someone is just making this shit up or that the study doesn't exist just because they didn't include a link.
