The Extreme-Q Vaporizer

Tweak

I quit smoking cigs 7 years ago and that was great.

Awesome, I quit last year. So glad I gave that up. Wasn't till vaping that I lost that morning phlegm.

Are you the sole user of the EQ? I've been recommending people try the nano GonG (only $14) in place of the elbow. Skip packing the cyclone, pack the 10mm tube of the nano GonG. Put a screen at each end, and you got Log Vaporizer type load size. Massive hits off tiny loads.

Place the male end into the Cyclone, Place a whip on the tip.

Hey, thanks for your tip. Give me some time to learn a bit about the vap world and I 'll surely try it, hehe
I'm really starting from 0 on this subject, but at least I bought a good vap for a first time user, pretty sure about that thanks to avidly reading threads like this one :D
gotta buy nano Gong (saved) lol

First post here, apologies if it has already been answered!

I am looking to increase the size of the screen that one uses in the elbow as the stock one is just too small when I want to have a nice large "elbow pack". I have both the Arizer stock glass elbow and new SSV elbows which are stronger and have a bit better airflow.

VapeXhale Cloud EVO sells EZ Load Bowls (screens) for their unit and they look about 3X longer than the stock Arizer screens, meaning they can pack way more magic into the same session! Does anyone know if these longer screens will fit into either the stock or SSV elbow adapters? I don't see why not but I thought I read somewhere that some people had issues???

Why, I'll try that right now! :)

The stock Arizer elbow fits the ELB just slightly looser than it fits in the EVO bamboo... Just manipulating the screen a bit can make it fit more snug, but hang on!

When I put this combination into the top of a cyclone bowl, if I tap, the screen falls out of the elbow a bit and hits the screen in the cyclone bowl, and as soon as you pull on the whip, it sucks back in... This is actually kinda cool! ;)

Going through a rather loaded ELB, while it's inside the elbow, it hits hard and strong, let it fall out and sip lightly and it seems to focus on the bit on the back that was underdone - a perfect match?

This definately requires more experimentation! If it were only the weekend.......

SOLO Vaporized Cannabis is my Best Medicine
Been really enjoying filling up bags using the straight Solo Wand described a few posts back. I have tried it as low as 446, but usually just put it on 500 and let er rip on high. I get three or four fill ups. I lost my Solo bags a long time ago, so I just use a bread bag.

Thanks for checking that out and I apologize that I made you go to all of that work, please take a vape-break!! ;)

So by what you are saying, the ELB fits smaller and falls out of the elbow easier but may not be a bad thing as you can cook the entire screen more evenly? There is probably a way to expand the diameter of the screen slightly to make it fit more snug but this might cause uneven cooking as the herb closest to the heater should be more cooked compared to the other end of the screen...make sense? I don't want any inefficiencies and/or wasted product here, this is all about maximizing the Arizers' potential!

Let us know if you had time to keep the experiments going this weekend...homework was never this good!!

Trying to Focus
I'd really like to hook my Extreme Q whip up to some glassware to cool down the vapor using water/ice chips. What do I need to buy to do this? My Q Whip broke recently and I'm not sure where to get spare parts or the cool attachments you guys have.

The bag has been doing for a while now but I've got a cavity or something in my tooth and the dryness + heat is driving me slowly into insanity. Tips?

It's hard work!

Correctamondo! Or at least it appears to be so. I'm mostly enamored with the whole concept of "dropping a load"... when I let off, it drops out, so I believe it cuts down a bit on the convection while you're not pulling on it since it's no longer directly encased by glass but has a bit of room, keeping it from cooking the flavor out.

The metal rim around the ELB falls down around where the glass ring is in the cyclone bowl. So the next light pull that doesn't force the load up makes the hot air go through the center, not around as you would think (really need pics), but pulling a bit harder will pull the load back up into the elbow.

While the load is still dropped out, however, any "shortcut" for air still makes it go into the back of the load that is still just within the elbow (it doesn't fall completely out). This actually brings more productive air to the part of the load that is otherwise neglected during the full-pull phase because that part of the load sits furthest away from the heat source.

Keep in mind that the Q has a fan, and so far only setting three is strong enough to force the load up (at least the way I've packed them - more generously than I would for the EVO), so just changing the fan speed changes the air-flow into the load as well.

Keep in mind (a lot of shit to keep in mind, so I started typing it out, heh) I've used the stock cyclone bowl, not a DDave-type adapter - as one of the adapters I have has a ring in the center that's too wide to fit directly on the Q. I also suspect that "dropping a load" in some adapters might cause them to completely drop out of the elbow. That's not the intent, and consistent with the description above, there's about the top 1/3 of the ELB still in the elbow in the way it fits into my setup.

Giving a gentle pull on the whip and pulling the load up, kinda like loading a spitwad into a fat straw - just satisfies the shit out of me for some reason. Then letting it *klunk* back down afterwards. Huhuh.. huh.. huh.. hmmm..

Sound like I'm hyping this shit up? Eh, it got me medicated.

It'd probably make it a bit more efficient as I'm sure leaving it loose lets a bit of extra air slip past without doing its job, but I'm having fun.

I've also got a Vapor Bros 18mm hydration adapter that's much like the Arizer elbow, but it's a bit more free flowing. I normally use this to connect the silicone tubing to a water tool. The ELB fits much more tightly into the end of this adapter, and I find if I fit it a few times and wiggle the end about and pull it out (oh, hush!), it constricts the diameter of the ELB to the perfect size so that it gets the drop action out of the Arizer elbow that I've been describing in the rest of this post. It's like it was custom made to be a sizing tool for my experimentation! :D

BTW - I've also noticed that it fits and acts in a similar manner with the SSV ground glass adapter that is popular, if the screen is removed first. For those that are compelled to throw the DDave adapter into the mix, I'm afraid your mileage may vary quite widely, but for those that can get that drop action (god I need a video for this), I can only imagine you just found the peak performance manifold, quite literally).

Sounds like you are loading/dropping a 3 1/2" THC Magnum shell into a vaporizing shotgun and repeatedly hitting the target!! :science: No I'm not high, that comment came from the same place as it would if I was though!

You would be an excellent salesman, especially since you know your product and aren't afraid to experiment! I might have to pick myself up some of the ELB "Magnum shells" and see if I can't blow my mind!!

Where can we get a longer length elbow bowl for the EQ? I like my little standard one but it'd be nice to be able to pack a monster size cone for those special nights.
If anyone has such information let me know :)
(See conversation just above about the EZ Load Bowl.. If you leave the cap off, it's precisely as you describe)

Can't seem to find it, sorry i get a bit mentally fuzzy after a coffee-buzz has worn off.. I've seen photos and links posted here before for extra large dome screens but it's bloody lost now

These are the EZ Load bowls that normally are used with the VapeXhale Cloud, Cloud+ and Cloud EVO vaporizers.

Typically product is loaded in the big, deep bowl, then the cap is placed over the end. The cap is a bit smaller than the Arizer elbow screens. The big, deep bowl is much, much larger than the Arizer elbow screen ;)

If using it as a direct replacement for the elbow screen, I do find I have to crank the heat up a bit to compensate, so your mileage may vary...

Interesting! Thank you!
It'd be nice to have one of them lying around for if/when I am hosting a large vape sesh for some friends. It'd fit 10x the herb compared to a normal dome screen! What a novelty.. haha
Thank you for finding that for me, i'm sure it was just in the last few pages but I owe you one :)
Do you own one and use it with your EQ? If so; when does it come in handy and what type of an experience is it? I can see myself emptying the whole screen out mid-sesh and mixing it / re-packing it again. I can't imagine something that long would vape all bits of marijuana evenly.

Honestly, I use it with the Cloud EVO itself and see it more as a novelty with the Extreme-Q (which sits all sad on a shelf most of the time). I had a bit of fun this weekend - instead of letting that bowl sit snugly in the elbow, I left it loose so that it would slide back and forth like a slug depending if you were pulling or not.

I have more to report on with regards to my experimentation, but need to acquire a few more parts first ;)

Anyway... when using with the VapeXhale vaporizers, I typically load about 1/4 to 1/3 of the total size of that bowl. A bit similar to how the Cyclone bowl works for the Extreme-Q, I believe space is needed for the payload to move around a bit in the airstream. Packing it tight has never led to good results for myself.

I treat it in a similar way for the EQ - but since I don't fill it, it means the payload is going to shift towards the end of the bowl (and away from the heat source, thus needing to crank it up a few notches).

Honestly, the cyclone bowl itself holds way more, and even at the size it is, I again pack about 1/4-1/3 full, which is probably around 2-3 normal elbow packs... it does meet your wishes as stated, but don't think it really "gains" you anything, except a bit of fun and experimentation.

I just happen to have all the parts :)

Thanks for that. Your experience with it makes me think that yes it would be 100% novelty with no real use in my vaping setup! They only sell then in 4 packs on ebay which amounts to much more $ than I would like to spend on a small item. Oh well.. It's nice to think outside the box anyway, and no doubt there are some heavy vapists out there using that EZ Load Bowl to do things we can only dream of.

Everything counts in large amounts
So... Here I'm at page 40 & something of this thread and I've been having so much fun the last few days testing dozens of tricks, routines and preferences of other users. Yes these posts are 4-5 years old, but when you gotta try you gotta try, right? You can't just discard the excellent work and the admirable courage of these pioneers. ahaaaa.
Tell you what... tried the trick of starting with a very well warmed-up set up and herbs. Hitting a couple of times the whip with temperatures as low as 140°C, then rise the temp 10°C, wait 2/3 minutes and hit again couple of times and rise 10°C and so on to 215-220.
Oh boy not only I end up stoned out of my mind with a .20, I spend 30/45 mins, of highly addictive fun, I can see how this can totally replace and expand the rolling a j routine.
This little test really gave me a pretty good idea of the range of effects obtainable by using different temps.
The first time I tried I was like... meh a .20... not a big deal. I use 3 grams a day on average for recreational use and I try to keep it down... Ok it's my own Biddy Early, it's a pretty effing good variety of mostly sativa, with the best aroma ever. I have people banging at my door, begging me once they try ,FFS.
But honestly I was a bit skeptic, 140° C temp? WTF? I can't really see much exhaling... hmmmmm but the taste...THE TASTEEEE, sniff... I shed a tears or two.
Well try and let me know... once I was at 160/170° C my 83 years old mum called me and we had a blast with the most effing hilarious convo ever, talking about her hernia and the need of a new dental bridge..it was fucking wild...rofl. You got the point.
Thanks to whoever wrote that piece, not only it lasts forever, the herbs are properly spent
and I enjoy enormously the aromas,I've been even on the edge of needing some orange juice to "recover"with this method and a .20 <--------------- holy shit! I still can't believe it :ko:
And all this by using the unit material, no mods.no elbow packing.
I love to use the fan on 2 assisted whip with the above. The fan really helps to perfect your inhalation steadiness, and delivers the same amount of hinalation for every temp. step.

Lulz just finished one session and I started super excited with that feeling in my heart "oh boy oh boy I'm gonna explode I'm gonna explode.. oh boy :lmao:" and finished an hour later with a bad need to eat something asap before I collapse on my couch.
I know right now from experience, not because I'm supersmart or anything, but because I've smoked for so long :myday:. This can totally replace the smoking habit without any regret. Period.
I can totally see now the flexibility the EQ offers, with its remote it's a joke to change setting and only your fantasy is the limit. I'm sure in 3-5 years we will see computerized machines that can record and save in memories your sessions and repeat them automatically when you feel like it. There you go, I just gave you for free the 1 million bucks idea. :mental:

I Just tried a .1, elbow packed, and because of the elbow distance from the heater I started from 155°C instead of 140°C expecting a very thin stream of vape and some excellent taste.
Instead I was surprised with a decent amount of vape and the taste is still there. I read often the sweet spot for this vape is about 200 °C (temps are not a science here I know...) but I find the taste much better at lower temps.
OFC you don't have the same amount of vape achieved with higher temps and fewer hits, but this way, even the .1 elbow gives you at least 2/3 decent hits + multiple small hits , thus the session lasts longer (good IMO), the taste of popcorn is completely gone and at the end I felt quite satisfied with a max temp of 185°C.
After 3/4 hits instead of mixing the herbs in the elbow, which is a pita , I blow in the whip letting the herbs fall in the cyclone and I keep going from there.

Oh and I ate just a few minutes before the session, surely the effect was a bit "softened" by that, but still felt really ok.
Bye bye .5 joints , welcome .1 elbows. If I was paying instead of growing my herbs I'd propably break even my cost of purchase in 3/4 months.
Only one big regret!!!! Why the Fuk I didn't buy it before:rant:listening to my friends "meh..yes vapes..pffff...no thanks".
At the next meeting MMMMHUUUAHHHHAHAHHAHA vendetta
Do you remember the first time you tried edibles and after 10 minutes you ate another one and after ten mins another one and after 60 they had to call the amber lamps? mmmehehe :brow:.
I Can't wait:D

The more I use it the more I think the simplicity and funcionality that coexist in the Cyclone bowl concept is pure genius. You start with the herbs not moving much at the begginning of a session because their weight is relatively high, which is good for the first strong hits, after a couple of hits the herbs start to whirl slowly allowing the air to touch anything in there. Who needs the freaking stirrer?!?! When they are very light you can take a strong hit and gather most of the herbs inside the elbow, TADA' Elbow Express, fucking genius I'm telling you. Then you release the herbs, give them a good twirl or 2 with short hits and baaaam an entirely new Elbow Express up your a.. I mean down your lungs.

Sorry guys , as you can see I'm super happy with my EQ and rambling a bit...a bit too much. I hope I can share something more constructive later. At the moment I can share my great enthusiasm.

If someone out there is skeptical and thinks without modifications this thing can't deliver... oh boy you like me are in for a surprise...lol

The EQ is a beast on it's own merit. I am doing tightly packed 0.2-0.3 elbow packs to medicate (lasts 2-6 hours depending on strain) about 90% of the time, and the other 10% is a mixture of ABV and fresh herb in the cyclone bowl for a little spin of the method(s) you described above @Mark1 ;)

I have even tightly packed my whole cyclone bowl with ABV once and got 10+ massive hits out of it. It's a multi-function device

edit: another great thing about the EQ is it's build quality. I can just tell from messing around with it over the last few months that there is absolutely no reason why this won't last for many many years to come.
The heating element is protected, tucked away and solid. I've taken it apart and inspected the fan which is also fitted securely, and all the wiring is neat and tidy.
Very reliable from the inside out!
:)

I did the same thing but in the elbow...sh*t I feel pretty stupid right now. How the heck I thought about the elbow and not the bowl , maybe 'cauz I'm stoned 18 hours a day 365 days a year..who knows uh?

Great idea, gonna test tomorrow ;)

Great idea, gonna test tomorrow ;)

I'm a liar or just an optimist...your pick , "cyclone looks beautiful packed to capacity with blonde tobacco colored ABV" yum yum

Edit 5 mins later: The elbow is touching the ABV, that's how full I packed the bowl. Sort of a mega elbow pack. Set the already well warmed up EQ to 230 , Fan on 3 and took what looked like the biggest stream of vapor I' ve seen so far..wow..lol, it doesn't even taste so shit*ty
Edit 25 mins later: I fear at the thought of a bowl packed with prime herbs.
Somehow it reminded me of hash a bacco in a chiloom, not as strong, more soave but Paaaaaawww!!! TO the belly > up the head, 1-2 Ko beautiful. Sorry gotta scratch my face very slowly reading some shit and stuff for the next hour...bye ;D

YES! Awesome! The one I had 2 nights ago was the same. Packed from top to bottom with ABV and it was smooooootttthhhh. Came out so much darker and finer than it went in, and there was no need to stir. (Well, I could have stirred it but I got so high off the first few hits that I forgot)

I love the EQ. It was worth the money, worth the time spent reading this thread, worth the effort of learning it and understanding it's tricks and features, and it's always worth every little bit of herb I put in it! Welcome to the forum as well Mark1, pleasure to meet ya. Are you italian as well?

I swear everytime I come back to this thread for a gander I'm always greeted with some new innovative concept.. Often put into working practice by more than a few. Keep up the good work EQers!
