Discontinued Sublimator XLR

Yes the one hour timer is still on the monkey controller and annoying as always :p I haven't yet taken a part the monkey controller was hoping others had info on how they have modded theirs so they don't have the timer anymore... Also if anyone knows how to gage temp or wattage that would be great help as well.

Also does anyone have any cool mods they have done to their sub 2.0?

I have just received my XLR 2.0!! Doing the 30 min burn off at level 12. Jesus Christ you guys were right about a lot of manufacturing oils, I guess it is all titanium though!

I will either modify the monkey controller to not have the timer, or create a new controller of my own. In the end, I think I will make these available to FC community in the end for as decent a price as possible, since this really is the only down-side I can see in this unit aside from potential injury lol.

Will do brother! Will report back after myself and a fellow fcer put the unit through the motions :D

Managed to get my atomizer stuck to the dabmaster during initial burn off. Tried to use moon tool to pry them apart and learned to my finger's dismay that all of the edges of the moon tool are RAZOR SHARP. I cut the shit out of my hands.

Ouch.

EDIT:

Ok, got this thing working, had to torch the atomizer til it the heater just came out easily.

I have hit this for flowers at various heats, and a little bit of oil. I need to clean my piece coz I combusted early on torching the atomizer for a bit too much 'equilibrium' but even the combusted hit tasted great and smooth and didn't stink out the place.

I have dabbed a little with it and it is so convenient as an enail. I have yet to do a double decker but this will come.

This is a tool, like a piece of hardware in your garage. It is capable of causing you serious, terrible harm if you try to do things with it that it shouldn't be used for. It should be kept stationary and not moved about wherever possible. I have cut the majority of my fingers/thumbs in the first hour of use on the atomizer handle and moon tool. I think these might be a isolated thing but they are seriously harmfully sharp. I would not give a friend that tool to touch for fear of hurting them!

The unit is tough as nails. Tougher than anything else I have seen/heard of. The controller and psu are such basic electronic items that you needn't worry if anything happens to them, the metal and the heater are what's important, and they are pretty much bullet proof so long as you maintain the rest of the unit.

Taste is definitely better than anything I've used except perhaps on par with e-nano/lsv (in terms of my personal preference, not in terms of tasting the same). The cloud plus was a fair bit better than these tastewise.

I dig the new short atomizer, I can't imagine a piece that this won't work in unless the piece is just way too small and can't stand up with the sub attached.

This will not go onto my Ryu Wilson rig without me building some kind of support for the rig to stay standing. It is not at all a large vape, quite the opposite; but it is heavy!

Further vaping is needed but nothing else hits this hard and I am so baked off the most minimal bits of flowers that with my solo would have just done nothing. Actually, I think I should hit my solo avb in this, I bet it'll be full of goodies!

That is badass but wow, that is probably over $1500 worth of shit. I wish I could afford the Sub. It seems like you need so many damn add ons, it's not worth it.

I use my straight burner tube with mine. It's the first version. With any vape you can spend a lot of money on accessories, but it's not necessarily needed.

No @Ripstar, you only NEED a suitable bong for the adapt-a-bong Sub. That's it. Maybe a Sub-buddy if you're feeling flush but it's certainly not essential.

It may not seem worth it to you but I can honestly say that it IS worth it to me.

I am still convinced that the Sub is the ultimate way to vape flowers. However, I am noticing that the sublimate, whilst great, will not shatter if any substantial part of it is was made by vaping flowers in the sub. I think that there is a sound argument for having two separate atomizers and rigs - one of each for oils and one of each for flowers respectively - with double deckers only to be done on the flowers rig/atty.

It is crucial to appreciate that the sub will make your oils taste like the flowers you had been vaping before in your piece if you don't clean the piece and atty between use of oils and flowers.

However, I have also realized that your average 18mm boro combustion slide seems to work as a good crude oil 'atomizer' for your oil rig, just hold the sub heater of your choice on top of it while you dab! You can't leave the sub heater sitting on top of this though, the heater will fall!

What I would really love is to commission a glassblower to make a good quartz sub slide for me with a bowl that fits snugly enough around a sub heater so as for the heater to be stable. This would ideally have a female gong joint so it can attach to our male di oil rigs. This would bring my Ryu Wilson piece back into play in a huge way! :D

Looks like a job for!
So I am very interested in a SUB, is the adapt a dab master really the way to go for someone who wants a enail and vape?

I do not no why but decarbed extracts are very difficult to process to shatter quality.

The carbonyl ring acts as a weight and additional binding site for the THC to form a "crystal structure" lending to the ability to create glass-like shatter. Removing that forces the molecules to act in a more anisotropic manner and thus glass-like states are less common.

Dramma lamma, I will get to this later today but let me know, are you into flavour, clouds, what takes priority, do you dab or do flowers more often etc, what sorta uses do you want a sub for?

I am in the market for a nice home vape, the ability to do concentrate and flower both equally well not some user made gimmick / work around is a must. The ability to catch reclaim is also very nice and something I most defiantly want for most concentrate pieces I use these days. I also have been a bong smoker for many years so hitting something resembling a bong / rig is very nice and relaxing itself to me (volcano bags not as much fun lol)

Currently I have access to flower and concentrate both easily for quality on the cheap. I have no nice home vape (just a wispr ver1) and am in the market for an e-nail potentially. So currently I have been mostly dabing at home and happily vaping when I am at a Friends house with volcano while using the wispr on the go.

Sweet, that is some good info to start working out what will be best for you.

Ok, first of all as an ex bong smoker, especially if you were into one-hitters, the sub is ideal to give you those big satisfying bong rips without the hazards of combustion. Still, there are a few considerations here.

A few things you might want to know:

- I have a ti dabmaster xlr 2.0. If you vape a lot of flowers through it and then switch over to oils without cleaning the atomizer in-between, your dabs are gonna mostly taste like the flowers you vaped. Especially if you are using the same piece for oils and flowers. This is not an issue unless you want to either taste and/or reclaim your dabs in their original state or as close to as possible.

- For the oils side of things - if you dab at a heat around 7.5-8.5 (double decker type temps), then you are gonna end up with gunk inside the vapor path of the heater. This gunk will get more and more cooked into the heater to the point that every dab you take until you clean the heater will taste like generic decarbed oil.

These are not limitations of the product. Indeed, it is one of the Stoner's Noble Truths that if you vape flowers and oil through the same piece without cleaning in-between, your dabs will taste like the aftertaste of your flowers you hit before in the same piece and your reclaim will become runny oil instead of shatter/wax.

However, you can certainly use the sub with 2 heaters/attys, this would be the ideal to mitigate most of these concerns (if they are concerns to you). In this case, I would suggest an Apollo for flowers and the Ti nail for oils.

However, with a dabmaster and 2 atomizers, you could leave one atomizer on your oil rig and one on your flowers piece and switch between them. Do double deckers on the flower rig though, not the oil rig! You don't wanna taint that oil reclaim with flowers, it becomes runny goo quickly! If you do this, please avoid dabbing at temps below 9, to ensure that your oil is vapor before making it's way through the air path. You would obviously need two decent sized rigs for this or the above 2 heater configuration.

If you, like me occasionally do oils when the sub wasn't hot enough due to impatience, ensure that you thoroughly clean the heater after every 2 days of very heavy use (or whenever visible gunk gets in there) to ensure that you don't end up tasting old gunked overcooked oil stuck in the heater when you dab ;)

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UNSCREW THE HEATER COVER FROM THE ELEMENT UNTIL ALL METAL IS COOL TO THE TOUCH! YOU WILL GET BURNED OTHERWISE!

The sub is the best vape I've ever used for flowers, I have owned/used many vapes before (e-nano, solo, pnp, cloud og, cloud plus, volcano/digit and more) and this is the quickest vape for me to load a bowl spend all the good stuff in it in a single hit.

For oils, it is the single best flower vape to hit oils on. However, the dabmaster alone, when also used for flowers is no substitute for a dedicated enail for oils in terms of flavor.

In terms of clouds and high, a dabmaster used for both flowers and oils would likely match or exceed other enails (even when not cleaned in-between!).

Has any one tried putting their atomiser into a Enail as a pre heater/ conduction heater?

I know I am asking a lot of questions I am just checking out a few mods/ ideas that may make it easier to justify the spend.

Why an enail?
The sub is supposed to do that, it just takes a few minutes.

Edit: also, there's a Teflon ring, how are you going to get around that with an Enail on the atomizer?

Pure performance.
The atomizer would be kept at optimal temperature allowing the sub to run at lower temps.
The Teflon ring slides off.
The aim of the game is to absolutely roast / bake the load instantly to achieve bong like rips. Yes I know it hits hard but I can see room for further improvement.

If you remove the Teflon ring, how are you going to mate the atomizer to a water tool?
I like your idea of improving the sub, but I think it is a pretty heavy hitter as it is.
And a very good design, but I'm sure there's always room for improvement.

With what the chinese are doing with heating coils and a good machinist any thing is possible.
Throw in a dual channel PID power supply and your ready to kick ass.
The subi would almost be relegated to supplemental heat status as the atomizer coil unit would become the main work horse.
Crowd source product development any one.
Mods if I am getting close to treading on toes let me know.

Now let me see if I'm getting this right, so instead of the sublimator supplying the heat to the atomizer, you want to wrap it in a coil, that sounds cool and cost effective, I'm a machinist and I can make an atomizer, not necessarily the same as the sub, but that's a cool idea.
