Looks the same --- well darker -- usually grey or black --- hole through most of time --

what is the deal with these

(being talked by manufacture co's like next best thing .. bla bla)
I found out what it is ---- its called CARBORUNDUM ??? --

I looked up safety sheet and was not too happy -

http://dept.harpercollege.edu/chemistry/msds/Carborundum Fisher.pdf

cancer -- heat issues ????

I spoke to manufactures and of course they claim safe --- and the reason I was given by multiple was --

lyn: The air stone material is carborundum, it is safe
lyn: high temperature resistance
[11/7/14, lyn: and before we use them, use hot water boil them for hours then put them in microwave oven for hours
[11/7/14, lyn: so pls do not worry about that, it is safe
[11/7/14, lyn: and better than the white ceramic rod

this seems to be trend --- n i already see many using this and IMO calling them ceramic ?

I may be wrong or crazy --- just trying to keep myself n everyone safe -- with gr8 taste !

peace n respect

edit :

I been looking into -- and found an updated patent from 1923 ! ---- this treated properly could be the top of the top ---- if the dangers r proven -- untrue ????

ill be looking into deep deep

anyones info will be greatly appreciated :) n rewarded :)

Standing stone faced like a statue.
Chemical name: silicon carbide, I don't know about you but I don't think I want to vape directly off of silicon.
And I especially do not trust broken english telling me it is safe.

they are using these as ceramic substitutes in wax/oil vape atomizers --

Im surprised they even marketing like silica ( bad) ceramic ( better) air stone ( the best )

obviously I cannot get behind this --- after my own research --

plz just beware ----

many companies are using the darker ceramic wicks -- and a lot - plz check them since they r being mis-labeled as safe and called ceramic sometimes too !

the ceramic ones should be white -- I know now some can be grey (-2000) -- but these look very much the same -- u will just notice they are pourous which would be great If it was safe !

@Roger D -- thx n respect my friend -- n re the use/context -- many are using as a wick for the wax atomizers ---

be educated my friends
n thx 4 sharing info !
peace n respect

It's amazing stuff is what it is!

silicon carbide
(SiC), also known ascarborundum/kɑrbəˈrʌndəm/, is acompound of silicon and carbon with chemical formula SiC. It occurs in nature as the extremely rare mineral moissanite. Silicon carbide powder has been mass-produced since 1893 for use as an abrasive.

"The important bit"

Grains of silicon carbide can be bonded together bysintering to form very hard ceramics that are widely used in applications requiring high endurance, such as car brakes, car clutches and ceramic plates in bulletproof vests.
Fc2000 wick as well as healthstones are made of it.

Electronic applications of silicon carbide aslight-emitting diodes (LEDs) and detectors in early radios were first demonstrated around 1907, and today SiC is used in semiconductor electronics applications that are high-temperature, or high-voltage, or both. Large single crystals of silicon carbide can be grown by the Lely method; they can be cut into gems known as synthetic moissanite. Silicon carbide with high surface area can be produced from SiO2 contained in plant material.
