My secret to THC E-Cig PG-Liquid... Potent, Effective, Cheap, Easy!!!

Ok
No offense, but I beg to differ. I have a 30mL bottle full of PG USP mixed with RSO. Mixed it up about a month or two ago and there is no separation.
I gently warmed the RSO then stirred in the PG USP and it mixed together just fine.

Maybe it is different with BHO?

I do know that VG does not mix with oil though.
Ok--sorry but what is RSO?

I've been debating buying one of these, but along with all the good stuff, there are some negatives for me. (1) Even though it's a "mini", the Nautilus Mini is significantly fatter than the mPT3 and the mini AeroTank. This makes for a pretty suspicious/noticeable/ugly rig when used with an eGo style battery. When I have to fly around on business, and stealth is paramount, I use a tank setup (currently a franken-hybrid of the SS internal parts from an AeroTank mini with the top and bottom pieces from a mini ProTank 3, all on a small 450mAh VV Vision Spinner eGo type battery). When I don't have to go through some sort of security, I travel with an atty based rig (not a tank) and feed it non-liquid concentrates. I like the Pure Gold I run through the clearo, but I get sick of it if that's all I vape. (2) I don't like the idea of a threaded glass tank, which the Nautilus Mini has. This may be a totally unfounded fear, but I still have it. :) On the other hand, I really like the idea of flexible ceramic wicking around the Nautilus Mini vertical coil, and I like the idea of a vertical coil with an open center, with the wicking surrounding the coil. (There's a thin layer of a cotton like material surrounding the flexible ceramic material, between it and the shell of the replaceable atty, but I don't think it will hamper absorption of even a very thick liquid, and there's a similar material in the newer versions of the dual bottom coil Kanger attys as well).

I couldn't agree with your observations more. I have the same love/hate of the GotVapes Sapphires; I finally stopped using them due to the hernia inducing draw necessary (and the shitty flavor, and I don't like having to use their "duck-bill" mouthpiece). I've been on the road for the past three weeks (hence my absence here) and I thought I'd pass on my observations with traveling with the mPT3 and Pure Gold. The observations should hold the same for any thick liquid, not just PG. I was in Dallas TX (105° day, 94° night), Las Vegas NV (110° day, 84° night), and Charlotte NC (100° day, 90° night), as well as a few other places with more human summer temps. I was on more than a half dozen pressurized jets. I followed the tips from you and @215z (and probably others, I am so behind in catching up on my reading here I don't have time to search out the messages now), and they worked 100%. Understanding that the high temps caused the air in the top of the tank to expand and push the liquid in the bottom of the tank out the bottom air hole in the atty itself was the tip that made it all work. I had zero leaks the whole time. Oh, and I happened to have one of the "type one" Kanger atty's installed, the one with the protruding wicks. I don't think there's much difference with regard to the leaking between the different type atty's that Kanger has made. Haven't found one of the solid ceramic wick versions to try yet though...

When I was flying, I used one of the plugs that's from the GotVapes Sapphire clearo to plug the hole in the bottom of the mPT3 atty (cut the thicker cylinder plug side off, used the pointy side in the mPT3 atty hole). Then I screwed it lightly on to an eGo style VV battery. The plug kept any leaks from happening no matter what orientation the mPT3 took in my carry on luggage. After I landed and got where I was going, I removed the plug. I carried the rig upside down in my breast pocket whenever I was out and about. Again, that prevented any leaks, even in 105° temperatures.

One thing I've noticed (all along, even before the above tips) was that I would get a little clog when the PG dribbled (or was pushed by air pressure) down the air path between the coils and the bottom hole in the atty. If I didn't deal with it, it only got worse, culminating in a little leak out the bottom. It didn't impede the use of the rig, the clog "cleared" itself at the first hit, but it came back every time I used the rig cold. I figured out a trick to fix this without having to take anything apart. I just hold the rig upside down after every hit, and the heat from the coil warms up the bottom of the atty enough that the PG that's coating the inside of the air path below the coil runs down into the coil. After three or four hits, all the oil has traveled back to coil, and the atty doesn't start out clogged and any potential leaks have been avoided. Another thing that surprised me: I expected after a number of hours sitting upside down in my pocket that it would take some effort to get the rig working properly again. Not the case! Even though "all" the PG was sitting in the top of the tank, there was apparently plenty enough left in the wicks and atty to provide great hits long before the PG traveled back down the tank to the bottom. In fact, I never had to do anything special to grab a hit. Just took the rig out of my pocket upside down, turned it right side up, and took as many hits as I wanted. Didn't have to wait for the PG to travel down at all.
Do you think there is a big difference between the mini pt2 and mini pt3? Which would work better for thick liquid oil?

The pt2 uses a single coil and the pt3 uses the duel coils. The newest version of the duel coils are a huge improvement over the previous ones, not sure if the single coils are updated as well. Duel coils seem to help get thicker oils flowing easier but if the oil is thick and the atomizer is dry you will char the wick and that flavor stays as well as it wicks worse.

The aerotank is better then the mini pt3 IMO. The mini pt2-3 and aerotank mini all have the atomizer base connecting to the battery, it is going to leak and if you wrench the cart on it will be even worse. The regular aero tank that holds 2.5ml has a base that makes contact with the battery and is sealed. What this means is no pressure goes on the atomizer and even if it leaks it leaks into a deep well of SS and not all over your battery. I just don't get leaks with the Aerotank even with ejuice in hot weather.

I make my oils the consistency of VG, any thicker and I find it easy to burn up the atomizer.

Edit: the aero tank having airflow adjustment is very useful to close down air when tank is cold and open it up as the contents warm and flow more freely.

BIG difference is in the available atty "modules" for the two. I prefer the mPT3. I use it as my go-to tank for Pure Gold, which is very very thick.

As I mentioned in the message you quoted, I am running a "FrankenHybrid" of the mPT3 and the MiniAeroTank. I prefer the stainless steel of the aero (to the chrome plated brass of the mPT3), but I don't much care for the MiniAeroTank's adjustable airflow base. It turns out the amount of airflow that the three fixed holes in the mPT3 base gives me exactly the airflow I want, and the adjustable airflow base on my MiniAeroTank is a bit loose and needs to be re-adjusted all the time. I got the MiniAeroTank when it was first released, and I think the airflow ring was tightened up in later releases (or maybe mine is just looser than most).

@GR's observations are true too, but I prefer the smaller size of the mPT3 or MiniAeroTank to their larger sized siblings. By using a little silicon plug in the bottom airhole of the atty when I fly (as described in that same message which you quoted), and by carrying my rig upside down when it's over 90°F or so, I never get leaks and everything works perfectly.

ok, used .5 ml of EJMix and a gram of shatter. Warmed the ejmix in a shot glass sitting in a bowl of freshly boiled water, then added the errl in three chunks. I initially thought that there was no way in hell that small amount of ejmix would dissolve and bond with a full gram, but I stirred the hell out of it until it was completely mixed each chunk, then continued to stir for another 10 min or so. It is thick in the nautilus (as seen by the bubbles, they have a lava lamp like effect), but it hits well and will get you medicated in a hurry. so far i think I prefer the DBC coil in an igo-w because of the taste, but this is definitely very stealthy! I will report back later after further testing... (the things i put myself through in the name of science) :)

I don't actually replace the wicks in any of the three or four style atty's for the mPT3/mAT. I replace the whole atty.

I do too. I recommend changing the atomizer every time you fill the tank. They don't get gunked and flavor stays good. Cheap on ebay

I live in a country where only mountain grown reggie and old school hash (better quality than london soapbar, but nowhere near US medicinal level) are obtainable. I recently acquired an Omega RDA, a Cloutank M4, and an Aerotank. Furthermore the winter here is particularly vicious and the air quality is ridiculously poor, so I am trying to minimize my balcony smoke sessions (no tobacco in the house and I smoke spliffs). I cannot get USP PG here through a trustable source but can easily obtain NOW brand VG as well as OVALE and Liqua brand Ejuice.

Could you guys check my steps?

1. Boil Hash, break it down, skim the top and collect the bottom
2. Place chilled 2g hash dust and 10g frozen ground reggie into jar
3. Pour in frozen ISO99, shake, freeze again for 4 minutes
4. Strain into pyrex container, pour in 20-30 ml Ovale/Liqua
5. Simmer pyrex container on Temperature Controlled Ceramic hotplate at 140F/60C until booze is gone
6. adjust remaining fluid with more ejuice until desired consistency reached.
7. Vaporize

Would it just be wiser to go pure VG for this? Will my hash be okay this way or is it just a waste? I'm not so much worried about concentration and strength as material waste. I want to be able to puff through a whole movie night with my gf watching one of her shitty films and not burning through my entire wallet or being out of my mind. My alternative is to spend 100 percent of my funds on the reggie and just decarb vg it.

Thanks all. I appreciate you helping me through these third world problems out here. I wish I were back in the states with all that crazy shatter, oil, exotics, full melt hash, etc. You guys have no idea how good you have it...

How is this working for you? Any problems with stuff separating back out?

This has been one of my go to sources in my quest for the perfect mary jane juice. Thanks to everyone for all of the great info. Quit smoking cigs years ago and want to eliminate smoking the other stuff. Anyway, tried it all PG, VG. PEG, Limonene, EJ Mix, and dozens of DIY recipes and techniques. Honestly, while some work OK, I had really given up on the concept. Last month my favorite dispensary had some stuff called PUFF MAJIC E-Juice and decided to check it out. A month later I am getting ready to get my second bottle. Just wanted to share the experience cuz I know we are all looking for the same thing. Its good stuff. Love the taste, and after a month still looks the same as the day I mixed it. No separation.

Anyway, thanks again to all of you for your excellent help during this journey. Peace Brothers!

Any consensus on a setup for first timers?? I have a mini vision spinner 2 and am thinking of getting some ejmix. Is that the go to mix right now? Also I would prefer a mini style tank. Any preferences or a consensus on which one is best for portability, flavor, and reliability? I dont care about capacity beyond 1ml, and live in a tropical climate basically. Thanks for your help!

It seems like some people don't care for the taste of EJmix. I felt it tasted like plastic. My friend related the taste to the smell of a perm, like the hair stuff. Another friend couldn't taste a thing. I guess any method of making a vape liquid has a distinct taste from my experience. Like I said above, I like Puff Majic. Been using it for a while and very pleased. Best option I have tried. The most smoke like experience imo.
As for tanks, I have tried a ton of those to between my cig juice and my weed juice. I bought a Aspire K1 because I was tired of 3+ml tanks and its 1.8 and seems to be what Puff Majic recommends. Nice so far. Good flavor. No leak issues. It is metal and pyrex which is good but I get a little nervous about what will happen when I drop it. But so far my favorite.

I'm really digging my lemo drop for ej mix and concretes.
dna40.jpg

I currently have it setup with a ni wire build for temp control. I have 3 2mm readyxwicks stuffed into the coil. Works pretty well at 16-20 watts at 420 degrees. Going to finish what I have in the tank and then rebuild. I'll get pics next time.

The shot glass microwave heating method works great for me.

My Leno drop will be my device with the nickel build too, but on the vapor shark :-D

Just need some shatter and ejmix or a couple of those o pen carts to empty in there....

Ipv mini and Atlantis tank work really good w shatter. The last mix I used in my natilus mini was wax and ejmix. I'm finding shatter does not gunk up the atomizer. Will have to seek out more shatter so I can experiment.

Does anyone know the saturation point of thc in PG?

I am mixing 8 ml to 1 gram of bud of 70%PG 30%VG
The vape has no flavoring added which I can deal with later but I want to make the juice much stronger.

Also:
Not sure but it seems when I load the tank, the first few pulls seem to be stronger than the rest.
Does this make scene?

thebajabum,
Is it concentrate or bud? I know with the ejmix they suggest 1 gram of concentrate per one ml of concentrate... Which seems a bit on the stingy side for the juice in my opinion

eight milliliters per gram of bud by the time the process is done I end up with 5 milliliters per gram of bud

Not trying to burst your bubble but with your recipe you would end up at a maximum THC content between 1.5-3.5%

The reason you are noticing the first few pulls being stronger is this. The liquid you are using doesn't mix with thc. You are only suspending thc into your PG/VG mix. So it is transporting some thc into the atomizer but you are burning it off in those first few hits. Then you are just vaping your liquid. If you let it sit for a while the thc slowly works its way back into the atomizer so the next time you get a few stronger pulls again.

My suggestion is to do an extraction of the bud. There are a ton of different ways to do it. Then mix it with the proper liquid. Vaping marijuana based liquids is awesome if done right but what you are doing isn't ever going to work really well.
