Discontinued The Sublimator

Nice to see you alive and kicking @jambandphan03

Have you still been keeping the old-school sub running 24/7?

Where are the other old schoolers? Anyone switched from using the sub as their daily driver?

yep, keep the sub on pretty much 24/7 it has started to show some fluctuation in the wattage, it will jump from 33 watts to 40 sometimes and back down again without me ever touching the dial, as long as it's below 38 or so, I can still vape my flowers with out scorching, so I do have to monitor it a little, but most of the time it stays in the range I prefer, around 33 to 35 watts. It could be our old house wiring, or the dimmer switch causing the swing, but it's not creating any real problems. I'm trying to hold out on doing any modding to the power supply until I have no choice.

Still digging my reconstructed/improved 1.0 apollo/launch tube kit as a daily driver,
I have one more modification to do to make reclaim easier and then it will be finished

was letting some ppl try out my sub that I purchased from jcat. Of course one dumbass got too high, stepped on the cord, and knocked my apollo on tile floor the floor. Now my apollo won't stay in my atomizer. There is no visible damage.. any suggestions? sorry to sound like an ass hole, just really upset my sub got hurt :(

So I thought I would link to my last post in the Sub xlr 2.0 thread here. It seems like most sub users hang around this thread for some reason?!

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/sublimator-xlr-2-0.12741/page-7#post-681015

I really wanna get into the high end vaporizer game but wanna answer a few questions before I drop some serious cashish.

The sub looks like it will meet my needs more than any other vape, but I especially wanna know if the adapt a piece dabmaster with new shorter atomizer is likely to break my rig at all and if I should use adapters or something?

Any other issues people have run into?

canj00digit?

All my days in a daze...
I will be listening @herbivore21, I've also been throwing a keen eye towards the Sub.
Been interested in them for some time, but only since I saw the new protective cage have I now been seriously considering a Sub. Before it was just too much burn risk for my clumsy arse.

I love the idea of the double decker hits :D

Bro, I'm on the way out just now but I'll give you a buzz later on to hook you up with something which will aid you in this quest :)

The screen is definitely a big pls, in fact a certain FCer has watched me scorch my knuckle on a hot nail lol. Something between me and heat is a good thing!

All I can think of is some kind of metalworker/blacksmith, maybe even a good auto mechanic if you don't want to start pounding on an anvil yourself. The atomizer prolly became out of round when it fell.

So I fiddled with the sub for an hour or so trying to see the problem.. Never found a blemish. Then, was able to sit the apollo on the atomizer as long as the dial box wasn't hanging in the air.. Now all of a sudden it fits like normal? I mean I know i didn't bend anything on the apollo when messing with it. But it just started sitting all of a sudden when a tried again this morning. (the apollo is all that fell) Not gonna question the gift from the vaping gods and keep on subbin!

Maybe you were too high and imagined the entire thing?

Chalk it up to "momentary user error" lol :whoa:

yea it must have been something along those lines..

Anybody have an idea of total units in existance? Wondering how exclusive the sub club is. Think more than 10,000? Just seems like Enrico has a pretty modest work force with very nice equipment/workshop. With the pricetag, limited distribution in my area, and the fact that its only been available for a year and a half I don't imagine 50,000+ of these around. Not to mention selling 10,000 subs would be between $5,000,000-$8,000,000 in sales(I know sales isn't profit) which I would imagine woud allow Enrico to live his "every day is the best day of my life" life style with his endless supply of bho bricks and piles of flowers. Reason I ask is when I bought my sub from Jcat I started reading this thread from the start and I'm thinking it must be first 100 available to public right? Not anything important.. Just something cool to tell my friends.

In a video from last year, in late summer/fall, Enrico mentions selling 6 or 7 units a week. Yet he claims Sublimator cannot afford to pay $30 to $50 for a prepaid shipping label, while he travels multiple times around the world doing dabs from the slab worldwide tour and dishing out $30,000 for a lawyer.

@Enrico won't get another dollar from me!

I'm guessing the impossibility of getting a response here is because you guys are all too vaked from subbin? lol

I am gonna pull the trigger on my ti AAB dabmaster 2.0 in a few days. I have finally gotten my hands on a new strain - Northern Lights! Can't wait to do potent one hitters through the sub with this stuff!

How much do we typically pack in a bowl? How long is the sub atomizer downtstem (ie: how much clearance does my rig need?)?

I can't wait to have an enail setup too, got some delicious g13 haze sap and some super heady THC bomb shatter waiting for this sucker, alongside some Northern Lights and THC bomb flowers!

Looking forward to joining in on the shenanigans! :D

.1 is the standard load in a hit.. I've found with good sticky material, it can almost be a bit much. If i want 2 hits to get me through i'll do the full .1 and I need all of my big lungs to clear a .1 with sticky icky. I actually get good dense vapor with .05-.07. .1 makes legit white vapor... smaller loads seem to have that thick blue vapor appearance IME (less than a week....)

Question about the reclaim. I'm 99% sure I haven't combusted yet. However, I have come very, very close. I haven't had any black material but about 7 total hits I've taken have had pieces get to espresso dark brown. and I mean dark brown.. "Problem" with the sub is the smoothness of the hit. I have not yet had the :puke: taste of combustion or any throat irritation. So even tho I'm almost sure I haven't combusted, I'm worried about my sublimate. Is the whole batch ruined if any combustion occurs? Does it sound to anyone like I actually did combust?

I think it would taint the taste a little, but it would not in any way impact the potency of the rest of the reclaim.

I like to run mine pettty hot, and get really dark ABV, no problems with the oil left behind, no sings of combustion, just really dark toasty herbs left over. If you combust, you will have ashes, and get yellow smoke instead of vapor, it's petty noticable, might leave a bad taste to the reclaim if it happens, but unless that in itself is a deal breaker, I wouldn't say it ruins anything else. Unless that's all you are diong is combusting with it over and over, then it would just build up the usual bong resin we are familliar with from combustion days. That is my take on it... I found between 30-40 watts is a safe range for my herbs, but prefer it closer to 33 or 35, once in a while it jumps up and get hotter, by a few watts, not stable, but close enough that I can work around it.

I tend to go for a mid-brown AVB on my Solo/Nano.

I've gotten extremely dark brown (as close to black as I've ever seen) in an OG cloud but still certain of no combustion. Combustion smoke looks yellow as per this post, basically thick light grey smoke with a faint yellow tint to it. It also stinks, if you accidentally combust inside, it's gonna stink to high heavens, the smoke is gonna linger. You could walk back into the room half an hour after the session and still smell it.

Reclaim has never been an issue. My reclaim from glass is always about as good as the top-notch shatter i put in even if I've vaped flowers from same piece well into the dark brown territory. I don't vape flowers so much as oils these days, still combusting terrible joints mixed with tobacco. The Sub is my last-ditch effort to kill my combusting habit. It looks like it'll produce the clouds I want (notably without that thick yellow-grey smoke colour lol) and be quick enough to load and empty so as not to stop me from using it. I will get around the timer one way or the other ;)

See I actually like my abv pretty blonde. Like cardboard. So When I see the dark abv i just get nervous. I'm actually just letting the sublimate build up like crazy in my dry piece. its stemless with a cage that has gotten pretty golden through use which can give my dense rips an almost yellowish combustion look. When i dump the material, its the exact cardboard color i like with a green flake here and there. I've only had the sub a week and have only run about 1/2 oz of one type of material so my results are very limited, but I can get all visible vapor in one milky rip at 29-30 watts and I get my color. So I guess ill stick to the lower end just cause I'm more interested in terpene profile and heady effect. Not so interested in the sleepies or pain. But it sounds like i was just pushing the material on those few hits because I really never did get the poor taste, and a dab of my reclaim was just nice and tasty so looks like this sub is still rolling where Jcat left off!

I really thank my lucky stars I don't have a timer.

Being able to leave it on 24/7 is a blessing.

Biggest reason I jumped on Jcat's OG AAB rather than the new!

Man every report and every video I read/hear makes me want this thing more and more! One hit extractions woooooo!

I used to get pretty close to one hit extraction in my Nano like this but the top of the load would be somewhat to dark and would still generally require a stir.

Can anyone tell me, is it fluidization that is happening in the atomizer? Sounds to me like this could explain how you guys might get such quick, thorough extraction with the sub.

You should definitely be using your ABV then; at that colour you are far from extracting all the goodness available.

My ABV is generally dark to the point of black, and I'll combust on the rare occasion.

It is very obvious when you combust, you can smell burning and you can taste the grossness of the smoke.
