Haha, I saw your post and decided I had to let you and everyone else know before anyone buys it uninformed!

i think the high temp feature is for use with extracts. but anyhow it's not your fault because it doesn't come with adequate instruction for using it properly. I would email the company right away.

The chamber didn't melt, the plastic around it did, and like, some parts around where the door works, so now the door doesn't latch closed, and I'll email them asap as well

Sorry to hear about your faulty unit rzzz. I'll just say that I have been using my alfa as my daily driver with heavy use, playing with all the settings and even doing multiple sessions on high, and my avb is always dark brown with no charring, I hope goboof does something to help you so your not out of your total purchase price.

Just wanted to weigh in and say I've been really enjoying my Alfa. The automatic settings are so convenient. Taste is better than all other similar conduction vapes I've tried (pax, flowermate, imag, tvape, pnp, n02, etc). There is definitely flavor-specificity with this vape.

It's also incredibly tiny. If the flowermate is a 'handful' then the alfa is 'half a handful', so to speak.

Effects are there. Gets me higher than my flowermate and as high as a couple sessions with the imag. The vapor is usually smooth but can get warm. The mouthpiece can heat up a bit too but it hasn't become uncomfortable yet after a few back to back sessions. Speaking of which-the 20 min timer is nice. I find my herb goes out before the timer, which I prefer. It's always annoying to have to restart my vape mid-session. Here I only have to turn it off when the vapors gone (depends on herb), or, I won't turn it off at all. That's what a timer is supposed to be there for imo. It makes a great handwarmer too. After my session ends I find I hold on to it rather than put it back in my pocket. There is that whole honeymooning thing though, heh.

Design is simple and intuitive. After 5-10 tries you'll have the oven door mechanics down pat. Much easier to close one handed than a pax. If I had to nitpick I'd say I wish the alfa oven door folded all the way down when opened for easier loading. Still, as is, I just hold the alfa in one hand and pour/scoop herbs with the other. Perhaps a funnel could be created for this, like with the Indica, but the jury's still out on if it's necessary.

The dial is functional and I really like the dslr aesthetics. If feels and looks like a grown-up pax in many ways. The led is also great. It has a very narrow range of 'beaming brightness' which brings the stealth to another level. From most angles the led is barely visible, but look down on it from above and the green led becomes unmissable. Very cool.

As far as changes I've made to the vape: I've cut a small hole in the center of one of the extra screens that comes with the alfa, to use for the oven door. I used sharp, tiny sewing scissors and poked a hole in the center and then just worked the scissor blade in circles to widen it to the correct size. They are supposed to be selling some screens with holes on their site but they don't appear to be up yet. In the meantime, this works equally as well. The oven door has gotten a bit resinated but the unit is still 100% functional. Sloths, ocd folks-come one, come all.

Positive experience so far. Don't expect a crafty, but do expect flavorsome, stealthy clouds.

Is it weird that this vape makes me want to go on a road trip and give a speech at a wedding at the same time?

I got the Alfa two days ago, I really enjoyed it, enjoyed being the key here....so I put it on the high setting for the first time, not with particularly dry bud....it ignited the bud, the heat from the ignited bud then melted some plastic on the interior, now the oven door won't close and I suppose I'm left with a near worthless vape....I messaged Goboof on facebook just to let them know this is going to be happening with a lot of people I imagine....I can't return it to the store so I guess I'm out of $220 w tax
Looks like you just signed up here today, and only did so to slag off the Alfa. While it is unfortunate that you claim that your unit overheated, I've found that when someone signs up to a forum just to complain about a product and 'warn others not to buy one' that there is often more to the story.

Whatever the case may be, how about giving Goboof a fair shake and actually contact them and let them respond before trying to damage their business?

Also, odd you paid $220 for it when MSPR is $199.

i'm deciding between the Haze and this vape.. Haze has user replaceable battery, but there're so much plastic part on the Haze, i think i will stick with the Alfa for good

hmm... hard to tell, they are very different and therefore they have very different pros and cons. I guess it depends on what you're looking for.
the alfa is not as versatile as the haze, but smaller and lighter. build quality is better (at least that's what I thought before reading the comment above) and it's smaller. the battery does not last as long and it's not exchangable. also i would not recommend it for wax and oil. the haze is bigger but doesn't offer a smart temperature feature.

So lets clear a few things up, I've been lurking on FC on and off since quite some time ago, I've had a DBV for 2.5yrs or so, this is where I came to look up the Alfa when I was looking for reviews, this is where I decided to get the Alfa. I made an account to inform people.... I didn't tell anybody not to buy it, I warned people of what had just happened to me, believe it or not it doesn't feel that good when you spend 200 PLUS TAX(hence my saying ~220) just to have the item break on you 2 days later...And I did say I would keep everybody updated on how Goboof handled it....I only wanted to make people aware of the situation as it developed.

I will say, the Alfa was a very nice vape to use, if it hadn't broken I would be singing high praises, hence the disappointment and associated forum posts when it malfunctioned in two days, usually when people are upset they want to tell others.

Not only that, did you not see I said I contacted them on facebook and then emailed them right after? Maybe stop being so quick to jump at peoples throats and try reading things twice through.

The world isn't a perfect place, and I stand by what I wrote. The fair and adult thing to do when something goes wrong with a product is to contact the company before you go slamming them on the Internet. Give them a chance to make things right before trying to sway opinion against them. Your motivation for signing up all of a sudden is quite transparent.

Anyway..... I was just wondering if anyone has received any kind of reply from Goboof yet? They were very prompt at answering my questions prior to payment/shipment, however, it has been a week and still no response in attending to after sales support questions...

Perhaps moderating should be left to moderators, eh? Instead of doing it yourself, please use the Report button when you think someone is abusing the forum. We're pretty vigilant on this point. We get accused all the time of being over-protective of manufacturers. In this case, Rzzz1 hasn't stepped over the line.

I finish all my loads on the high setting (easily 30+ sessions at this point), must be the old "combuster" still in me. Nonetheless, no sign of melted plastic. @Rzzz1 I hope this is an isolated incident. Please keep us updated.

I have the Pax and Firefly. I love both, but the Pax can be time consuming to clean, and I hate the lube process. This looks great, is cleaning an issue, especially the chamber with the rod in the middle?
Thanks

I've recieved the alfa today but after a few tries, I still don't have any succes getting
even the smallest clouds.
I tried on mid and hi temp settings, first time I used ground herb, after about half a minute
almost 50% of the oven was behind the screen under the mouthpiece.
I don't see a way in using this with ground herb and without a screen in the oven.
Second try was with broken up bud pieces. After maybe 10 minutes or more with at least 5 minutes on
high, I still barely saw vapor. The bud piecdes came out pretty well done but almost no effects.
What am I doing wrong here?

I made a hole in one of the provided screens to put in the oven before I even loaded my first bowl. Haven't had any issues with clouds or effects myself. Ive also been tamping my load down a bit. Will try a looser pack next...for research.

They responded to my email, apparently this is a known malfunction, albeit a rare one, that is being fixed. They'll be sending me a new unit free of charge.

@Rzzz1 Got pics of the malfunctioned units' said damage?

I am actually having trouble getting my Alfa to "brown" herbs as much as the Pax...

I too opted for a secondary screen in the chamber. I have been using "fine grind" a la Pax...however, find small loose nugs work better with Alfa...
