The Mighty/Mighty+ by Storz & Bickel

The directions do say it can be used while charging. Please take note that on the Crafty thread, darkrom's Crafty went down when he was using/charging at the same time. It could be a coincidence but he plans to not use/charge simultaneously when he gets his warranty replacement--just to be safe.
Others have done this with no problems so it should be ok....
i guess the same is happening with the mighty too, and i think this is not an issiue/ or a faulty unit, i think this happens when the mighty/crafty is totally out of juice, then when you plug it in and try to heat it up, the temp goes down,,,,but if you plug in and wait for the vaporizer to load until the first charging bar is showing up (after 10-15min) then i had no problem using the dvice while charging it...:-)

I had a similar experience with my Mighty going Error #4.

@artist Yes I hear you, man. Even after this error problem, I also have great confidence that my Mighty will be a very useful and sturdy tool, for a long time. I'm just waiting for the S&B solution to the problem, which imo is not a bad position in which to be. :)

I've been letting my mighty come up to temp then shutting it off and taking like 4 draws then power it back on. Very tasty and very Mighty battery life :)

Does that tell any of you science heads how much convection vs. conduction is going on inside these new S&B portables?

Am I correct in thinking
1st hit convection>conduction
2nd hit conduction>convection
3rd hit mainly conduction
4th hit conduction

Would love a technical explanation of y'alls thoughts.

TIA

I don't see how it could - the heater is still hot when the unit turns off, and decreases relatively slowly, so it could well be convection that's doing the work on the 3rd/4th hit. Or maybe not, and it is all conduction. I just don't see how you can get to either conclusion from that evidence. If anyone could shine light on it I'd be really grateful, love learning about this stuff.

Is this a good way to test how much conduction occurs on the Mighty or the Crafty even.

Load a full bowl.. replace the cooling top back on.. turn it on and set to the max temperature..

wait and let it get to the max temperature and open it up.. see how much it has turned to brown...

the color would give us a good estimate of how much conduction is occuring..

my feeling what would happen is the bottom probaby will turn brown but the bowl itself will be mostly green and ready to turn to brown when the hot air comes up...

The conduction happens on a small circular band of stainless steel in the bowl. The top is screened, as well as the bottom. I think it's pretty ingenious how the design cooks the load to a certain temp, but the auto shut off stops you from over-cooking the entire load, (ala pax). The convection aspect of it really shines when you take your draws. The temp drops because the cooler air is coming through, cooling the sides, bringing the temp down, reengaging the heater. This is where I let off the power. (either manually or auto shutoff.) The load is still well within temp, but you get about 4 nice long draws without any power being used. When the vapor output drops off I hit power and it is back to temp within seconds. Of course the higher the temp, the faster the session. My abv always comes out a nice even medium brown, never any blackness like the firefly if you keep honkin' on it for a while. I just tried the whole nugget technique and boy what a different spin on things! Even tastier! This technique is keeping my battery lasting almost 12-14 loads! Maybe this is the intended design? Either way this device basically bitched slapped my VAS:evil: and sent him packing!:rip: (Thank Goodness!)

Now don't get too cocky with the VAS. VAS can bite you in the ASS when you're least expecting it, especially when the "new vape honeymoon" is over. It's all kind of inevitable and just a matter of time.
Agreed!! Thank goodness the 2018 Grasshopper will help! ...wait?.. that's 4 years!!!! Dam you VAS!!:bang: I'll never hold out!:disgust:

Sure. what do yous wanna see? I drop the kiddo off at preschool tomorrow then I'm off:nod:. Still tryin to get the lighting down but definitely a can do tomorrow.:D

Day off!!!

Would like to see how you load it, how much the bowl takes and what it looks like... Hits at max off a fresh bowl straight away.. That's it! Thanks!

I was in the same boat! I was also worried about wait time and cost of return, if I needed to ever claim warranty. There are a few places in Australia that will be selling them very shortly. I will PM you where I ordered mine from (don't want to violate any rules about spam or advertising).

Aloha everyone...just wanted to comment on S&B's customer service.

Had an extremely hard time getting a hold of them on the phone but they answered my emails on Monday. They sent me a new adapter promptly and said they would work with me on my vibrate issue. It actually resolved itself(maybe a low bat glitch) and has been working flawlessly.

I really do love this vape and the customer service made be feel confident that I will be utilizing a beastly vape for many years!

I like @ShayWhiteGrow technique on continuing to vape after the cutoff...I was utilizing that technique to conserve my bat power due to not having a working power adapter. I believe I will be continuing that technique along with starting with 185C and gradually increasing 5C after 3-4 hits...

Hey guys!

Haven't been to this thread in a while. Just an update since it's been about 3 weeks now with the Mighty. After 3 whole weeks, it's my most used machine ever! I love this thing and I take it everywhere and have turned into a major pothead because of it. I rarely use my Volcano now which I still love. Just love this device way way more. Friends love it too. So after I got my initial unit, I messed up the LCD screen in a really bad way. Storz-Bickel were awesome about my dumbass. They sent me a new unit free of charge and included a pre-paid box to send the old one too. New one is flawless. Excellent customer service on their end too. I bought the car adapter which is awesome and one extra cooling unit.

One thing I noticed after 3 weeks of hard use was that it's been tough lately to get some nice clouds going. Vapor has been thin. I thought it was my rosemary bushes. I thought they had dried out too much or something. Stupid me. Thing was clogged and it was such a slow build that I barely noticed. So rule of thumb. Keep an extra cooling unit on hand or clean regularly. Installing the brand new unit resulted in me smoking several hits, passing out, rolling out of my favorite chair and then rolling off my deck, landing on a skateboard which rolled down my driveway and into a bus. I'm ok now. The mighty is awesome. Favorite buy. That is all.

Oh wait. No. One more thing. How are you guys and gals cleaning your cooling units? I was just going to dunk it into rubbing alcohol and let it soak up those juices for 1 hour and then hopefully it just rinses off? I don't know how this works.

Thanks for the PM Thcgos. I read on the Crafty thread there is a 2-3 week delivery time anyways ex Germany to Oz but works out a little cheaper.

I'm pretty sure I read here that S&B says not to soak it, but to just rub it with a cotton pad or something like that in ISO.

Whoa.

That is what I'm thinking of Mighty.

Initial impressions: Feels SOLID in my hands. It was smaller than I thought it would be. Feels very balanced in my hand. Easy to grip. It looks like a power tool blending with tools in my garage. Pretty Light.. I did not have a hard time keeping it vertical- just balance it and it was able to stand up just okay but for Loading- I have to use hold it and load it at the same time- Not the best but I can manage. A little bump will definitely send the Mighty tumbling so I would put it on its back. Heat time up looks like 90secs to 2 minutes- It gets faster if you fire it up for a 2nd bowl... The vibration when it is up to temperature is a nice feature..

I packed my bowl to the brim on the first go. Let it heat up to 210 C, because science.. I took my first draw- no resistance at all. I could feel my lungs getting a bit warm near the end of my pull. Huge cloud came out- so smooth and it punched me in the face-- I was coughing on my first hit- I underestimated this machine. Flavor- no plastic taste at all- Pretty flavorful- reminded me like the Herbie/Firefly-- Vapor quality-- I think its #1 for portables for sure-- it can rival a lot of desktops- I liked the Mighty as much I like the Herbie but I could notice the air/vapor quality was different between Herbie/mighty-- I liked the ratio on Mighty..

For the bowl size- I dont think I need the full bowl unless I want to be really effected. I can do a bit less- less hits, yes but gets me where I need to be.. I can imagine cooling down the bowl if I am not finished and saving it for later but I think it would be better to put in how much you would want to finish in that sesh- For me- I usually finish off a bowl in one sitting and If i need more- i would load next one- I think that is less wasteful than a huge bowl size..

I did not see any vapor escaping from my Mighty after I hit it-- at 210C I finished the bowl off in around 6-8 Hits- the ABV was really dark brown- It looks definitely roasted. For the effects- It came on strong and was able to keep me medicated for a good while. The clean up was a breeze.

Had some friends try it out too- They looked at it and all thought it looked really cool and I didnt even have to explain how to use it or anything - just draw through this-- their impressions was like Oh this is the best vape you ve had out of all! That surprised me.. Honeymoon phase? Perhaps not- This is a monster vaporizer.

Storz Bickel has been around for a while- Volcano got in the market really early for vaporziers, it set the standard and been up there for a long time as one of the better vapes. With the Mighty I feel that it might have did the same and set the standard for portable markets and it might be up there with the better ones for a long time..

I wish the Mighty had the bluetooth connectivity too like the Crafty because it would be a cool trick to be able to control the Mighty from the app AND perhaps have the ability to update the device via bluetooth? If that is not possible then would have been nice to have the app.

10/10 I give this vaporizer. I don't think this will be leaving me at all. There might be good ones coming out but this one is staying with me.

I dub this Mighty Cordless Volcano...

I can post up pictures or videos later.. Any questions or anything you want to see.. Ask away!
