I too fought that ring when I first got it. Many's the time I'd have a near perfect fill going only to spill some getting the GD ring out so I could put the top on.

I then changed approach for a while. I'd load the base sitting in a small metal mint tin. Just let the excess spill out of the pan (let the tin bottom keep track of it). Then, after fitting the top, I'd shake off any excess and close the tin again (with the spilled bud in it) until I'd spilled enough to make it worth while collecting it (which of course went into the next loading.....).

Then I changed my technique. Dropping it on and poking it into place is actually pretty easy, even when you're clumsy I think. And it does make loading easier. The hard part (for me) was fishing it out again without messing up the load. Then, the little light came on. By pushing down gently on the rim of the ring with one finger at the milled out spot (6 and 12 o'clock in your bottom photo) the far side of the ring pops up making snagging it with the other hand very easy. Easy to do, it just takes a flat place to set the VM and both hands......and everything you need is in the egg. And on your hands.......

OF
Cool. That's exactly how I do it too. Push on the edge of the ring so it lifts up and then grab it easily with the other hand.

I have ditched the funnel, my fingers are too big to manipulate it easily. I'm using one of the brides treasued antique sterling silver salt cellar spoons instead (DON'T tell her) and it works much better. One spoonful is perfect for filling the Vapman. It's quick, easy, and also good for spreading and retreiving any material spilled around the edges of the bowl. I got a replacement on Ebay last night for $8 so I can return my girl's treasure before she notices it's missing. They are all over Ebay, from $0.99 to $2,500 each. I plan on getting one of the $2,500 ones to see if it really works that much better than the $10 version.

That finishing grinder looks great.

It works great too, a large coarse pile from my Chromium Crusher becomes a small fine pile after the FG does its thing; mechanical concentration of weight/volume and decreased partical size to maximize surface area exposure greatly improves the quality and quantity of vapor. Of course large vs small pile is still tiny either way, size is definately relative.

OF, I discovered the exact flip 'N tip method you describe to remove the funnel early on and still think it's the next best method for me (since I already have the spoon). I have found the spoon far and away easier, faster, and more accurate to use. Pinching the herb, rolling it off a folded card, dumping/brushing/scraping from the grinder, even with the funnel inplace, didn't work nearly as well for me. Too much, too little, and disturbed piles were frequent out comes. The spoon makes it all so much easier.

That spoon method is interesting.

I keep my ground herb in a small pill bottle-like container and then use a short bamboo skewer as a spoon to drag the stuff out and into the Bowl (with the ring).

I can even do a one-handed deal where I hold the Vapman in my left palm and the container with the fingers of the same hand, then drag the stuff out with the skewer in my right hand.

I will try the spoon method too and see if it's better.

Thanks for sharing ☺

A warm and friendly hello to everyone!

I am the inventor and manufacturer of vapman, nice to meet you all here on the vapman thread!
Almost 10 years ago, it was a rainy and coldish February evening, I was sitting in front of a blank sheet of paper, which I still have, making the very first drawing of some ideas running through my head about a portable and gas driven vaporizer.
Now, when I am reading all the different and interesting comments of this threat, my mind keeps wandering back to this very moment which I remember as it was yesterday. To read comments of happy users of vapman fills me with great joy and satisfaction, back then I was just wishing and hoping but I had no clue of what I could expect. The dedication, respect and love this small vaporizer gets on this thread is touching me, I am so happy vapman found such a great family, thank you all. This said, it is clear to me, that I am not needed, you guys understand vapman as good as I do and I feel very much connected which is a great feeling. I have no intention to influence nor to lead this thread in any way, it is not a good idea to touch a running machine but I am happy to join in and respond to any questions directed to me.

Sincerely,

vapman

A very warm hello coming back at you @vapman

I'm sure I speak on behalf of everyone who participates in this thread in saying that it is an absolute pleasure to welcome you here to FC.

We all seem to have one thing in common here: a true love and appreciation of the small but mighty vaporiser you envisaged, and so beautifully crafted. As you say, the VM truly has found a family here at FC - and it's fantastic to welcome the VM's "daddy" into the fray.

Anyway, before this message risks getting too sycophantic :D - I'd just like to say I look forward to your input here, and to you sharing your thoughts, ideas and dreams with us.

:peace:

Welcome to FC @vapman , Just want to say thanks for producing such a wonderful product and for your top of the line customer service. I truly can't believe I waited so long to try a Vapman but I am so happy I finally picked one up, now it's pretty much my daily driver. Love using my little Vapmen.

Another Order placed for a kit and a couple sets of concentrate screens, this ones a Birthday present and I do believe I'll be giving at least a few vapman vaporizers as Christmas gifts this year to spread X-Mas joy and vapman cheer.

:peace: Peace All and Enjoy the Vapor.

At last THE Vapman is in the house!

@Seren and the others beat me to it. There is nothing I can add, but I have to say THANK YOU for inventing this awesome little device!

I can't wait to see everyone here pick your brain so I can learn more about the Vapman.

I'm curious... After a good session, do you sit there and admire your Vapman for a while like most of us do? Do you think, where did you come from?

I'm glad you're here!

Peace, brother.

Many thanks to you all for the exceedingly warm welcome, I feel at home already!
Your appreciation of vapman is just unbelievable, all I want to do is to get together and have a session with you guys. Thanks.

@Mojo: Crazy, but very often after a session I find myself turning this thing backward and forward in my hand and looking at it from all angles, this after 9 years! Glad to know that I am not alone,
it must be some sort of vapman syndrome and it seems that there is no cure to it. At least I know now
that I am absolutely normal and I don`t need a doctor.
Yes, I asked myself several times already where vapman did come from. Vapman is the third vaporizer I designed and built and there is something special to it, I was aware of this as soon I tested it the first time. Making something just out of an idea is as many say, 1% inspiration and 99% transpiration but with vapman there was also something else involved, some sort of magic. It wasn`t an easy path but there were a couple of things falling in place which are beyond my senses and capabilities, I accepted it thankfully. I use to say: If vaporizers would grow organically on trees, they probably would look like vapman…lol. I say this to make people lough but there is something to it. I am absolutely non religious
but I believe in the magic and spiritual side of life, actually more than anything else.

I don`t know about the chicken and the egg, but with vapman I know that vapman was first and the egg second.

I wish you all a good vapman-day!

I'm not at all sure about that "absolutely normal" part. Anymore I'm not sure I know what normal might be.

One thing I do think we know for sure is there's enough of us to qualify for group rates......

Vapman virtually replaced all other portables for me.. It's just got it's own soul, it's own energy. It's got it's own good vibes! Must come that way straight from the man himself....

Edit-pretty much replaced my home units as well

I agree. I've owned a Vapor Brothers (big box vape), an MFLB, and a Vapolution pocket vape, and after I got the hang of the Vapman I just don't think I need any other vape.

I've been wanting an eNano for a while, but can't seem to get around to ordering one. I really think that I'll spend the money to end up shelving it and keep using my Vapman.

I'd rather buy another Vapman instead! Hahaha.

I just received my screens with an extra one, thanks Vapman!

I decided to give mine a torch to clean off any factory residue, like you do with cheap SS screens. I held it with tweezers and torched it to glowing red. There wasn't any off gas like the cheap pipe screens but now my screen is pitch black in colour? And I can't seem to clean the black off.

This seems a bit strange to me but I'm quite high so maybe one of you could shed some light on this event.

I'm just gonna load up a fresh screen and test this badboy out so I'll be sure to report back!

Peace!

I am very pleased to report the safe arrival of the new member of my immediate Vapman family - a beautiful Walnut Basic :luv: I haven't actually used her yet (yeah, this one's most definitely a she!? - yet to be named!). I've just been taking her out of her egg every now and then to admire her. She looks particularly exquisite with her dark plum tree stem  :luv:

I haven't been so patient when it comes to the rest of my order though. It wasn't long before I tried out some pollen hash in the new concentrates screens in my other Vapman ("my little fella"). I can only agree with the others who have already reported on them here, they work an absolute treat! They're everything I'd hoped for. They contain the hash well - and the spent hash hasn't stuck to the screen or the mid piece filter at all - which is obviously great. The hash tastes really flavoursome too. I'm one very happy bunny!! :)

@Mojo
Lately I'm using the vapman during the day then mix it up some evenings with my Underdog in order to stave off boredom and the change in 'vape signature' seems to be helping keep the number of bowls down then when I exclusively use one vaporizer ( that could be all in my head but that's OK too because it's working for me).

I think A nano or an underdog makes a great companion for the vapman. Although I did find I just had to buy a second Vapman four days after receiving and being blown away by my first.

A Yew Vapman with a yew Underdog would be pretty sweet.

Kind of like how I just can't get over how pleasing my walnut classic is when trading off sessions with my Daisy, And they just look so good sitting out together on my vape station. (even better after a session or two with each)

My pearwood basic VM and ash UD make a sweet couple too.
