I tend to find the battery life lacking and the auto shutoff to be annoying.
I tend to have to turn the unit back on several times per bowl, and I have a hunch just the thing staying hot would help battery life.

I'm also 2 bowls in and am down to 4/6 battery.

Can anyone post a guess as to how many total bowls they pack on a full battery? I'm guessing like 4? Maybe 5?

Also is there a method to ensuring I'm getting a full charge? It doesn't really do anythin to indicate it's really ever at 100% (ie flash battery icon, or something. Cell phones usually have a msg that says "Fully Charged, Unplug.")

With that said I have no problem at present just leaving the thing plugged in. But I get a feeling it's still activating the battery during this time so when it's unplugged it still goes down a notch pretty soon. In other words it doesn't sit at a full battery indicator for very long. Is there anything I can do to make sure I'm getting the most out of it?

It took them a few days to deliver me my prepaid return label. They were unable to email me the label, they had to send it by snail mail--I think its a stamps.com thing. I finally received the prepaid return label. I expect they'll receive the defective unit by Mon or Tues. I never requested that they send me a replacement unit, but maybe I should have because I hate to be out of commission for long. I guess its just part of being an early adapter.

If they started the United States market at serial number 000500, then I've got one of the earlier units off the production line, which is nice for my ego. My serial number is lower the the VapeCritics. :) I guess we'll see if they send me back the same unit or a replacement unit, and whether it has a same serial number or a later number.

If it were me, I wouldn't want one of the earlier units off their production line. The later the better simply because manufacturers make running improvements from time to time to improve reliability and performance but they don't necessarily make these running improvements public.

I've been getting anywhere from 8-10 depending if I start at 350 or 370 and work my way up to 410.

And that is what will keep me from buying an S&B portable.

When someone can come up with a portable where you can apply and remove the heat instantly yet still be able to produce tasty, cool, voluminous hits like Mighty/Crafty, I think there is where I'll put my dollars.

In other words, I want a small pocket-friendly portable LSV..........:brow:.
You may want to check out the Elevape thread?

Yeah but, you just gotta squeaky-wheel it a little bit and their Service Department is happy to grease you right up.

I'm just saying, if one of the earliest Digital or Classic Volcanoes got sent in for service, S&B may very well send out a brand new replacement unit with all the most current improvements because they stand behind the product.

Mighty car adapter price raised $5 to 24.90 in the S&B online store, like I predicted.

Yeah I thought about a case for it. The Pelican 1040 Microcase might be nice, except the pick-n-pluck foam doesn't pad the upper surface on the interior of the case. There should be a way to pad it.

http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail/Case/1040/

Edit: Yeah a way to pad it, like getting 2 of those padding strips from the i1015 model and using them with the 1040 model for The Mighty.

Pelican 1050 - you can buy extra foam for it to pad the top.

Just wanted to chime in...I received my Mighty today and I do agree, this thing is beast! Coming from the Vapolution, MFLB, Solo, and the most current...the Pax. The Pax will be going to a homie and for my personal opinion, I have the best of both worlds:
Concentrates= Persei + SR74
Flowers= Mighty

I broke it in with a full bowl at 180 C and the taste remained throughout. I got about 6 nice hits and decided to call it quits. I was still getting some vape so I am sure I would have gotten a few more hits. I didn't notice any extra smoke coming out of the cooler. It was at night so I will have a better view tomorrow.

Pelican 1050, imo, is the best for the mighty.

Space is the Place
i think it is more efficient to shut down ... consider a unit of energy called "amp-seconds" ... my vape runs at 35% duty cycle to maintain 395F ... it takes 20 seconds to go from ambient to 395 at 100% duty cycle ... 100% duty cycle is 12 amps, so 35% duty cycle is 4.2 amps ... so getting back to vape temp after 5 minute shut down is 12*20 = 240 amp-secs, while maintaining temp for 5 minutes is 4.2*300 = 1260 amp-secs.

Notice that one minute is the equivalence point (approximately)

Thanx @Hippie Dickie so it can be done and i was wrong.

Isn't your bud toaster 100% convection ? Wouldn't the ratio of power/heat change if you were also heating a aluminium chamber up to vaping temps along with pulling the heated air through the bud ?

Was Just asking because these results run contrary to the results from any vaporizer I've used that isn't heat-on-demand. Not trying to be a prick or rude or ruffle feathers, just wanna know.

Because With the vapes I have and those I've used If i take three hits and turn it off 3 minutes then turn it back on for three hits and let it cool again for 3-5 minutes then heat it all up again to cash the load I'll only be able to do 1-1.5 bowls instead of 5 bowls in 5 ten-twelve minute sessions.

Hope that makes sense so you know where my questions come from.

The Herbal Cube

@RUDE BOY - Yes, for sure it would change somewhat ... just wanted to cite some real world numbers. not sure how the mass of my glassware compares to the mass of the aluminum.

not to divert the thread, but since you asked, yes the Bud Toaster is mostly convection ... i say mostly, because there is a lot of radiant heating of the herb - how much I haven't figured out yet - but enough that the cube doesn't get more than slightly warm.

hi all,
have found the 'stand' trick for the 'mighty' on this site:
http://extreme-vaporizer.de/crafty-mighty-vaporizer-im-test/
unfortunately for many people around here, the site is in german, but they say:
to make a stand for the mighty,
pull out the cleaning tool,
twist the clening tool around
then put the cleaning thing back in
and 'voila!'
you have a kind of stand that is ok..
but i personaly would not leave the device like that for long time, it still could fall to the front side by accident it is not very stable but ok...

...by the way:

That's pretty awesome.
Though I thought the tool was supposed to be for "packing", (though I can't for the life of me figure out how one would pack any herb with that thing.)
This is far more useful!

JerryBears,

elmomuzz

That just happened...
You use it in conjunction with the loading tool to rake herb into the loading hole and then to tamp it down.

hi, was thinking about an easy & cheap stand for the 'mighty':
hopefully this link to my dropbox works:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xjsaqavnl1kj37q/2014-11-03 00.47.09.png?dl=0

make a spiral (+/-15cm diam.) from a metal wire (2mm diam.)
bend the middle end to shape the hole of the cleaning tool,
make this middle 'U' about 2,5cm long and same large as hole in 'mighty'
pull the spiral about 2cm upwards in the middle to make it stand out and have a space between table and 'mighty'...
i know its maybe hard to figure out..i try to post a photo :-)

edit: one could also use a wooden plate and put a 'U' nail or a 'U' sahped wire (with the thikness of the 'mighty cleaning tool hole' "mctl":-)) ) upside down into the middle of the plate, then stick the 'mighty' on it (like on a smartphone docking station), guess this would also make it stand nicely...with some deco...:-)
dropbox pic:

edit...edit:
when your out and about...allways take a hammer and some 'U' nails with you...find a piece of wood.....be creativ :-)

this is my issue as well with the Solo, 12min shutoff may not seem like a major issue but when I have to turn it back on 3 times to get fully medicated it can be a bit tedious and annoying, especially with company although I understand it is mainly designed for personal use. It does seem the Mighty would be able to push larger clouds quicker and more efficiently, although their should be a feature to enter your own time frame of when you'd like it to 'auto shutoff' also a bummer to hear for me as well, think ill wait a year and see what improvements they do..

I don't think S&B made the auto-shutoff just to preserve battery run-time. While I'm sure that was a major factor, an equally important consideration is long-term battery life. If you were to keep the heat applied to the Mighty and then forgot about it for an hour, you've essentially exposed the battery to the heat of maybe 6 or 7 bowls. Forget about it overnight, and make a habit of it, and you could kill the battery in a couple of months (if you don't burn your house down in the process - safety is another consideration).

I also suspect, albeit baselessly, that the auto-shutoff is to protect the heater, but only because the Plenty had a dead man's switch as well (and it was a plug-in unit). But the same principle applies: you could have a neglectful user end up putting the unit through the same amount of use in one week as another user would in a year. Given their rock-solid warranties, this is probably a significant concern for them.

I was looking at the directions online. It looked to me that this unit can be used while plugged in if the battery is low? Is that right?

Sorry if this has been asked.

yes thats correct, it works while charging, just needs to be charged for +/-15 min. then you can use it on the cable..

The directions do say it can be used while charging. Please take note that on the Crafty thread, darkrom's Crafty went down when he was using/charging at the same time. It could be a coincidence but he plans to not use/charge simultaneously when he gets his warranty replacement--just to be safe.
Others have done this with no problems so it should be ok....

Hey guys, is there anyway to connect the mighty to a 14 mm gong water pipe? If so could you explain to me how to do it and what I'll need to buy, Thanks

- 1/2" piece of silicone tubing
- o-ring to go around 1/2" tubing

This was a post from @JCat.
1/2" is measured from outer diameter of the tubing.
Ensure you use heat rated tubing.
Also I think the mouthpieces are the same diameter (between crafty and mighty). But maybe someone else can confirm.
