I wonder if they have liquid damage indicators in them, and also wondering what the warranty policy is if you a) admit to breaking it or b) plead ignorance

I would be SHOCKED if they didn't have a liquid indicator inside the unit. The sensor can't be that expensive relative to the unit. And I'm sure it saves them countless repairs that were caused by the user.

I'm not expecting them to cover the repair cost, it was completely not their fault. Even if I plead ignorance, they'd be able to tell it was user error/damage.

Just going to be upfront about it and hope it's a cheap repair.

The release of the Crafty and Mighty, and all the enthusiasm in the two FC threads, is welcome fun for us Volcano owners. The 'Cano gets very little respect (or interest) on the forum, and it's a pleasure to have so many Volcano veterans out and proud.

I second that.

...I flippin' love my Volcano, it changed my life.

Good man, I would be interested to know what they end up charging for a repair as it would be useful info to anyone considering this vape. So far all we know is to replace a battery is $50. I'm hoping a lot of the cost is in the R&D and the service, and that parts aren't that outrageously priced, of course the labor wont be cheap since it's not china. Thanks for sharing this cautionary tale, I do recall one of the video reviews mention that they felt the plastic casing could be more 'grippy' or something.

I think that is the right way to handle it, shows some backbone :) But I would be carefull with the possible bacteria if it indeed was dropped in to a toilet. Can't be healthy to vaporize comtaminated water.

Do you have home insurance that covers electronics?

PS. S&B has somewhat slow email communication.. Bums me out seriously :/ Hopefully you can get your replacement/ repair sorted faster.

That was that garbage Wizard Puff "review". I personally feel the unit has plenty of "grip" to it. My coworker had the Crafty in his pocket, I guess it was just halfway in or something.

Negative on the insurance front. And not sure I'd want to go down that road either since I'm not in a recreational or medical state.

And agreed on the bacteria possibility! I'm assuming the unit will get a full once over by S&B and cleaned.

In the email I just sent them, I just said it encountered water damage. Didn't mention the toilet. I guess I might in the next email to them, just to ensure it gets sanitized inside.

I'll be sure and report back all the cost associated with the repair so others will have some background info on it.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Super bummed I'm without a Crafty now. Was really wanting to take it with me to Fun Fun Fun Fest this next weekend!

I'm half-way considering ordering my mom's Christmas present early, and "making sure it works". Wouldn't want her to get a bum unit :brow:

Of course Apple approved the app, how else would that vaporizer user data get monetized by the corporations? Funny how it took them until the 31st day of October, the very last day of the work week and month.

I'd attribute the delayed approval to top-heavy Apple bureaucracy more than any product roll-out mistakes by S&B. Or maybe it just took them that long to work out a back room deal on who has the proprietary rights to the user data.

Great Scott!
What user data do you think there is to collect? That "darkrom" has used his vape for 4 hours? Or my temperature of choice?

You're right. I can't offer a good comparison yet. My Vaponics taste is more pure though. You still have a plastic taste in your mouth, it may not harm you but I feel it disturbs the taste a bit if you're spoiled like me. :)
I would really appreciate a different mouthpiece. Wood would be sick!

@Roth I'm will never leave someone unattended with my Crafty. This is my baby now and I don't want to have to send it back soon.

This is very good to here. Hoping for the same improvement.
Nice avatar ;)

With my still highly functional Cloud plus I can get very dark brown abv.
Same with an old Solo. two Cloud Evos produce a much lighter roast. Even after factory resets.

What do you all think about the Crafty's abv?

First things first, color alone is not the ONLY indicator of how much was extracted. I'd hesitate to use that as your main guide of how many goodies you got out of the bud.

Having said that, the ABV produced from my Crafty was very comparable to my EVO. It was all a nice, uniform color. No hot spots, and no stirring was needed.

I put the ABV from the Crafty into my EVO and didn't get any additional vapor.

So sorry to hear that Roth! If S&B can fix it, they'll probably charge a fair price. Hopefully the unit can be salvaged.

Quick note: I am pretty skeptical about the whole data mining issue. What advertisers would care about that data? So they can advertise in the app? They already know any user is in their target demographic - are they trying to only advertise to people who use the thing for 2+ hours a day?

My major complaint with the unit is fixing the temperature bug - it can't take that much to fix given the quick turnaround for the Android app.

Hey guys, I really appreciate all the good reviews about this new unit
Sorry for those with bad experience (especially @Roth and @darkrom) I hope S&B solve your issues to full satisfaction;)
One thing that was already asked but not respond yet is, how is the airpass? I cant see any intake holes on the available pics:hmm:
Would be nice to see some pics of your units:rockon:(and maybe the air intake,if found)
Another thing that was already asked: Will the domed screens of the EQ fit in the bowl of the crafty??

TIA

Nah man, come on, don't you know about monetization of data for marketing and advertising? They will will place a value on knowing who uses the Crafty, how frequently those users use the device, when they use it, where they use it, and any other bits of information they can glean, for the sake of advertising other products at them, if nothing else.

Just pray to Google that everything will be okay.

Don't have the EQ domed bowls to test, hopefully someone else can chime in on that front.

You won't be able to get a pic of the air intake, unless you have a tiny spy camera on a stick sort of thing. The intake is under the heater section, in the little gap between that and the base of the unit. In the pic below, look at the red arrow, it's in that region.

Not 100% if it's just one intake hole down there, or several. Will try to find out for sure when I get a chance.

It's designed well, because no matter how you hold the unit, you'll never fully cut off the air flow. Even if your hand fully covers the base, air still gets into the intake from the gap between the heater section and battery. You can definitely restrict the airflow, but you won't fully cut it off.

And I usually charge to show people pics of my unit

I would like one for the iPad.
The iphone app looks great on the ipad, it's blown up to full screen with no loss of resolution

In california the mmj prescribing doctors have been pretty liberal with their plants per patient recommendations, leading to uncertain abuses of supply. So it's not out of the question that the authorities could be looking at the actual usage of certain patients. Put that together with a money trail and/or seize-able property/children, and everybody from the dea to the irs to the lapd and local sherrif's department, even child welfare agencies could have an interest if there is reasonable cause.

It's probably nothing to really worry about (how could they know that you're not consuming it otherwise/plus you can turn the bt antenna off), but it's a nice paranoid fantasy for those so inclined :suspicious:

MIRACLES HAPPEN!

My coworker just woke up, and I went back to check on my baby.

I had it in the back, sitting in a bag of rice all day. Took it out, and fired it up. It connected to the app, got up to temp, and held the temp. I took a few draws, and temp dropped a few degrees before getting back up to temp.

I'm not off shift for another hour, so won't be able to fully test it til then. But things are looking up!

I can taste a slight combustion taste (from when the heater had a run away after being dropped in the toilet). But nothing an iso bath can't fix.

Also a piece of rice seems to be stuck in the hole where the pick is. But that's small potatoes!

So fucking psyched, I hope I don't have to send it in :)

You sure you are not tasting human waste

Vaporizing for health reasons but then using a new device that has been fouled in a public toilet, kind of defeats the purpose.

On a serious note though, glad it is coming back to life.

Give it a good clean before you let your mouth near it
