Sorry, but v3 is not the universal solution; I have a v3 top having a lot of 3 blink problems with my 3.7v carts.

Imho, thats not some quirks I should be putting up with and be comprehensive. I bought an sr71 and quitted on it, killed 2 7.4v kiss in 3-4 days, so 3.7v is what im using. The need to unscrew/screw my cart, place the button looking up to see if its actually firing were not things I signed for. The herc and the 7.4v kiss are user errors. Thats on me.

But the 76usd core having connection problems was never mentionned anywhere before I bought mine. I didnt signed for this too. I didnt have problems with it for a few days, but it came back yesterday on top of the 3.7v 3blinks.

Sorry for the negative here, but I had to vent. I understand having to put up with quirks on new and proprietary technologies (the hercules sr71) to have them now and/or experience something not many have. But I dont think a power supply or connecting a 3.7v cart are technologies hot enough to justify the quirks coming with them.

My experience is completly different, I get a V2 Persei + 7.4v Kiss + sr-74 since august and the core since september and everything is working like a charm, 7.4v Kiss need to don't push the button more than 2s and never must to run dry...
But my main tool is the sr-74, I get some 3 blinks issues but it never didn't want to work, I'm happy to get it cause I made by mistake some crumble and the easier way to vape it is to put it in the sr-74 (or with my Nectar Collector) since it's very difficult to handle!

My main concern is my noisy Core...is it a bad sign or is it normal (actually I try to don't let it plugged in more than 2-3 hours), but it never becames hot....

With a 2s preheat and 5-7s draw give me nice clouds and taste without coughing (time depend how much your hercule is hot), if I want bigger hits I use it inverted with my bubblers, I only get the 7.4v white rod.

IMO the sr-74 is the pinnacle of portable concentrate vaporisation but we are waiting for more innovations from Uptech....and others brand maybe (actually, since TET is closed, there is no real competition!)

Before to get my W9 arsenal I used 0.1-0.2 shatter/day(nail days), now it's something like 0.5-0.8/day, it's amazing and convenient!

Thank you for correcting me on the v3. But understand that the short protection is needed for the herc & is a lot more convenient than blowing your top. The persei can't automatically tell what cart you're putting on it, so the short protection feature isn't going to magically turn off just because you switched carts. You're kind of comparing apples to oranges here (kiss cart being apples & herc oranges). If you want to avoid this apparently devastating & inconvenient "quirk", buy an Omicron Lite for 3.7. (Or just ignore the blinking). If you use your herc more often you would understand the need for this feature a little better.

PS: Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Great Scott!
Long story short I fucked up. I'm a quartz guy.

I overheated my dabber and the oil coil on it today trying to clean it 100%. I guess it's always going to be stained black. Got it glowing for a bit and noticed "oh yeah....titanium dioxide".

Any advice on how to 1) clean the oil coil and 2) feel confident that it is safe and doesn't need to be replaced with a new coil?

I want to order spares eventually, but I was hoping to use the herc tonight. Not going to load it until I'm SURE I can make it safe to do so. I'd rather just not use it tonight and do it right if thats the correct answer.

I'm even more paranoid of Titanium dioxide than I would be if dabbing on an overheated nail, because with the herc I'm not using water filtration.

Got my persei yesterday and brought it out to a party, I am really happy with my purchase.

It is on sale for $129 on w9tech and you can use the coupons they offer with the social media buttons(discount button on the right side) and you can get another 20% off bringing it to like $104 !

wow, that sure is a great price! It seems I paid double and ordered the Herc as well as the core! Overall I am happy but lately this thing starts turning itself off suddenly and then you have to press the button 5x to get a steady light. It may work for a couple seconds or not, so you have to press the button 5x again, unscrew the top, unplug the wire. Its really annoying the hell outta me sometimes. I had my top exchanged once and it says V3 on the side, so I guess I do have a newer one. Will this be fixed in newer versions?

@THC SCIENTIFIC any idea if there is a safe way to remove titanium dioxide?

Also any update of SR74? I might want to grab a spare.

From my understanding, titanium dioxide possess no threat. It's even in food coloring. I understand that the inhalation may be different but I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe that it is any greater of a threat than food coloring.

This is not where I recieved my initial info on it, but it does help to confirm.

Great Scott!
Dunno how bad it is or isn't but...

"
Titanium dioxide dust, when inhaled, has been classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as anIARC Group 2B carcinogen, meaning it is possibly carcinogenic to humans.[56] The findings of the IARC are based on the discovery that high concentrations of pigment-grade (powdered) and ultrafine titanium dioxide dust caused respiratory tract cancer in rats exposed by inhalation and intratracheal instillation.[57] The series of biological events or steps that produce the rat lung cancers (e.g. particle deposition, impaired lung clearance, cell injury, fibrosis, mutations and ultimately cancer) have also been seen in people working in dusty environments. Therefore, the observations of cancer in animals were considered, by IARC, as relevant to people doing jobs with exposures to titanium dioxide dust. For example, titanium dioxide production workers may be exposed to high dust concentrations during packing, milling, site cleaning and maintenance, if there are insufficient dust control measures in place. However, the human studies conducted so far do not suggest an association between occupational exposure to titanium dioxide and an increased risk for cancer. The safety of the use of nano-particle sized titanium dioxide, which can penetrate the body and reach internal organs, has been criticized.[58] Studies have also found that titanium dioxide nanoparticles cause inflammatory response and genetic damage in mice.[59][60] The mechanism by which TiO
2 may cause cancer is unclear. Molecular research suggests that cell cytotoxicity due to TiO
2 results from the interaction between TiO
2 nanoparticles and the lysosomal compartment, independently of the known apoptotic signalling pathways.[61]

The body of research regarding the carcinogenicity of different particle sizes of titanium dioxide has led the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health to recommend two separate exposure limits. NIOSH recommends that fine TiO
2particles be set at an exposure limit of 2.4 mg/m3, while ultrafine TiO
2 be set at an exposure limit of 0.3 mg/m3, as time-weighted average concentrations up to 10 hours a day for a 40 hour work week.[62] These recommendations reflect the findings in the research literature that show smaller titanium dioxide particles are more likely to pose carcinogenic risk than the larger titanium dioxide particles.

There is some evidence the rare disease yellow nail syndrome may be caused by titanium, either implanted for medical reasons or through eating various foods containing titanium dioxide.[63]"

Total newb to this, I picked up a persei and the oakneos 3.7v.

I load up a small amount and pull from it and get great hit after the button held time learning curve, but how do I know when it's time for more? I get a bunch of good tasty hit and it still always seems
Oily. The cart has some at the bottom that also get cooked a bit,

I just more
Concerned that I'm going to burn it, but I don't want to keep loading it if I actually have a good amount left.

I have 1 7.4v cart alive atm. My persei fires it everytime. I just have problems with 3.7v carts. Are your 3.7v carts firing ok?

I think the buzzing sound from the core is normal. Mine does it too.

Sir, I will respecfully correct you again. I bought a 165$ oil vape pen with specs saying it runs 7.4v and 3.7v. The 3.7v function, a function a 55$ omicron does, is only working with extra manipulation not mentionned anywhere.. How can this result be right? Are you telling me its common with every 3.7v vape pen? Because its my 1st and only oil vape pen. And I was under the impression I bought the best one my $ can buy.

I wouldnt argue with you, or feel I didnt get what I paid for, if it was mentionned anywhere that the persei is a flawless 7.4v oil vape pen that can run 3.7v soso when in a pinch.

On a side note, I had the 7.4v cart in but it wasn't working correctly and by taking it apart I broke the wick. I have the rebuild kit, but not sure how many wraps around the black wick I need to go to make it 7.4v. My okeanos has a like 5 and its 3.7v. Help? Also what about the extra wire, how does that get crimped. Like tail to tail under the kiss cart, like a bridge or do it wrap around the wick as well after its crimped on the Ti wires?

I believe when you pull the center pin out of the bottom of your cart you will see the positive wire. The other wire would go on the outside of the silicone insulator plug, your ground.

@DieHard has a rebuild tutorial, he's the rebuild man.

I have yet to have any problems with any of my 3.7 or 7.4 carts. Nor have I had any problems using the hercules with a V1, V3, hammer, or 8 top.
So I have yet to rebuild any personally.

I can tell you sometimes I have to pry the center pin out of the cart a tiny bit to make better contact.

*EDIT IN*
@spoutti beat me to it! Lol.

The Professor
Hey @darkrom I find this intriguing. I am certainly no expert, but was looking at the info you provided. Particularly this:

NIOSH recommends that fine TiO
2particles be set at an exposure limit of 2.4 mg/m3, while ultrafine TiO
2 be set at an exposure limit of 0.3 mg/m3, as time-weighted average concentrations up to 10 hours a day for a 40 hour work week.

Warning, the following logic may be terrible since I am under the influence, so ... you know.

So the most dangerous ultrafine particles (no way of knowing if we are dealing with those but lets assume the worst) are "safe" to one third of a milligram per cubic meter of air you are breathing for 10 hours a day. So below is a picture of two one mg pills next to a penny for scale. So imagine about 1/3 of one of those pills and how much dust that represents.

800px-Clonazepam-1mg-teva.jpg

Average human lung capacity is 6 liters or 0.006 cubic meters (per wikipedia) we don't get close to using all of that in normal breathing but we'll take the worst case.

So ten good lungfuls would get you to .06 cubic meters of exposure (since only exposed to the toxin while puffing). 166 lungfuls a day will get you to that 1 cubic meter of exposure.

So is it possible that there is enough dust in the coil to amount to that pile of 1/3 of one of the pills?

If there is, how close to 166 lungfuls of vape (adjust as you see fit to your person) do you get to per day.

Again, that logic may be flawed. Or the safety guidelines our government created almost 45 years ago may not be the best to go by. But if you are ok with that I don't think you could approach enough exposure to really be dangerous.

YMMV!!!

I understand the parts of the kiss cup, it's very simple. But I have the g2 Ti kit which has the smaller wire, the rebuild diy is for the original kiss. And I still need to know how many wraps, does it matter? No want to use the 7.4 for shatter but still have my 3.7 okeanos for wax

Long for holding the button on a 3.7 cart? I feel like it doesn't really start baking good until 7+ seconds in. Maybe I'll time it

What I'm trying to say is that the issue you are having, is simply a feature that w9 tech added to the persei to protect the circuitry from assembly errors when using the hercules carts. While misfires are a slight inconvenience, its nothing to be worried about. No other vapes do this because none of them can run carts like the hercules as well as the persei. If you bought the persei to only run 3.7 carts, you spent too much money. The persei is the best portable oil vape that money can buy, it just takes a little time & effort to learn the machine.
