Hi everyone ! Does anybody know if is this crafty compatible with an iphone 4 ? On S&B's website, they say "iphone 4S and higher". But I've a little hope...
I'm still rocking an iPhone 4 (I like the small size), and have verified the app won't work with it.

Works fine with the first generation iPad retina.

My Crafty has shipped today with UPS standard… :smug:

I 'll have to be parted from my beloved  Lotus to have the luxury of owning a Crafty (Firefly also gone...) but I am sure I'll be able to get one again at some point… :luv:

Crafty checks all the boxes on the list so far and I don't think it will disappoint as my one-vape-to-rule-them-all choice. A Lotus will always be needed as a trusty back up or when I miss the ritual but the Crafty will have to do all the hard job.

My girl thinks it's ugly but I don't agree, I think it's a cute one! :D VAS over? Very possible… :\

Got the iPhone app! Finally, my purchase is truly complete. Immediately turned down the LED brightness to just above off - I actually think it looks a lot classier this way.

There does seem to be that temperature bug that was fixed in the Android version - I get 180 + 15C for default temps, but then I get 356 + 59F for the same temperature settings. Gonna wait it out until S&B fixes it before I get into messing with the temperature settings. I like them fine the way they are now. The really key thing for me is being able to monitor battery life more closely through the app.

EDIT: Given that the app can monitor the unit's temperature even when turned off, I think it's definitely possible to program a remote-on feature. Now we just have to wait for S&B to implement it. This is one of the more exciting aspects of owning one of these things: we can see it evolve over time.

Also, this app is actually really useful for shutting off the charging light - it was annoying at night when I was trying to sleep. Can always turn it back on in the morning now.

S&B should also implement an estimation for charge time. I get that this would be pretty difficult to do for battery time remaining because use will be so different in terms of how long the heater is on, how sharp the temperature drop is, how long the hit is, etc. But it would be nice to know that, if I don't touch the unit, it'll be done in x minutes. Does seem to charge pretty fast though.

What's the efficiency like on this device? Could you get 2 sessions out of a bowl if you are not taking massive hits, or would you have to lower the temperature down a little?

You can easily get two sessions out of one chamber. Just make sure to take a large draw right after turning it off to cool the oven down to reduce/eliminate further vaporization. Don't even think you will need to take small draws while on to achieve two sessions.

Ok ... so here's a link to a PDF with instructions on setting up a VirtualBox/Android-x86 VM on your Windows PC to control your Crafty complete with instructions on screen orientation etc.

Amazing contribution. Lots more people can now use the remote control features on the Crafty because of your guide.

well all the reviews sound damn good so far aside from darkroms.

cell life seems like it can be a tad short on some units which could be an issue for some. would be great to be able to swap cells. i wonder why more MFGs dont give this option...? is there a safety aspect they are worried about?

may i ask where?

There is a story associated with mine. It was mistakenly priced at $298 so I ordered it and received an email stating that it was priced incorrectly and they offered a 5% discount....I countered with 10% saying I could order it from Vapornation since they had a coupon good for that discount. They agreed to the 10% discount. I got mine from vapenow. Vapornation has the 10% off offer with the FALL14 coupon....the FC16 coupon and the Halloween one don't work..they still say pre-order there though with late November availability. You could call them for clarification if they expect stock sooner.

So, charging it right now.
Grinded up some herb.
Is there a special way the grinder fits on top of the filling tool? I just put both grinder parts on top of it and bumped them together so it falls down.

Did you guys run an empty chamber? Or rinsed the grinder?
It doesn't really have a plastic smell put it smells "new".

I'm really excited and I can't wait to try it out.
I'm glad I ordered the Crafty though. I don't want it to be much bigger.
It's pretty thick but it's still small. I don't have anything to compare it to since this is my first vape except the Vaponic.

I'm pretty sure you guys have muuuuch higher tolerances and standards for vapes, since my friend got blasted of 3 hits of his new Ascent. I'm expecting to travel in time tonight. :whoa:

I just loaded it right up and got started :) ...

I've only used the Storz-Bickel grinder and filling tool once (have gone to my little scoop or "paper funnel" method) ... too much static with the acrylic filling tool and grinder and too much bud sticks in there! (not sticky stuck but static stuck :))

Great Scott!
@2clicker

My review is great besides the charging while using killing it lol.

They emailed me back today. Replacement coming, but its priority mail, so I probably won't see it until next week sometime :/ Was honestly surprised they didn't next day air the replacement. Not a huge deal really, but I'm missing it.

I'm sure the next one will be fine, and I requested that they let me know what the hell happened to it when they run diagnostics etc. I certainly won't be charging while using my next one. I know some can and its fine, but some people can also use heroin just on the weekends... Just not worth the risk for me when everything was going great, and now I'm without it. I didn't find much advantage to using while charging anyway, unless you want back to back IMMEDIATE hits and can't wait 5 sec or so for the temp to be back.

Either way I knew they'd take care of me. Hopefully I get it sooner than later and can be back to loving the product.

just a guess, but with high current draw from batteries, the device needs a solid connection (i.e. soldered). So, not a general user replaceable option.

I wanted to chime in here that so far with my usage I'm getting more than 5 sessions ... (did 6 before recharging last time and it looks like the Crafty still had ~30% charge) ... decided to recharge as I noticed the heat recovery time going up ... either that or my test through a hydratube resulted in significantly more temperature drop because of increased volume of air being inhaled quickly ... but I don't think my inhales were that drastically different ... so seems the temp drop might increase as the battery depletes? ... just some early observations ... not definitive yet ...)

Just out of curiosity, how'd you run the hydratube/bubbler? I believe I've seen someone force some silicone tubing over the mouthpiece and then other end into 14mm female.

- 1/2" piece of silicone tubing
- o-ring to go around 1/2" tubing
- 14/18mm reducer that tubing w/ o-ring fits into and creates an airtight seal

I'm thinking about emailing SnB and requesting the following features for the future app updates:

*Estimated time remaining for full recharge (while charging)
*auto off time adjustment
*remote turn on from app
*option for ability to only turn on from app, thus making it unusable for anyone other than the owner (admittedly this probably wouldn't fly because it could lock people out of their own devices but still a cool idea).
*smartphone notification pop up/alarm from app when device is fully charged (obviously only when within BLE range, but still useful).
*smartphone notification alarm from app when battery at low or at user defined %

That's all I could think of for now.
What you all think? Any other input?
