Herb Grinders

Are you happy with green? I waited and searched extra hard (and made some educated demands to the customer service team!) and in the end was offered the colour I wanted. Sometimes they will test you to see if you will take another one, and if you will then they may give you ones that are not selling well or are overstocked.. Its not too late to message and stay firm on Purple and see if they can arrange to get you one!
Green looks nice though and will make a delicious and vibrant looking herb bowl :)
I'm happy with the green. It was my second choice of color.

I've got black, black, black, gun metal, and black...
...so I'd go for the red one!

Guess I'll have to wait for them to come out with a new size, the Ginormous or the Brobdingnagian(grinds coconuts as well), so I can justify a red one.

I gave it a hard, thurough wipe-down with a decent amount of ISO. Works a charm and makes it all shine like brand new!
I used a cotton bud to really clean the screw-on parts, and the magnet area and everything else. It comes off easily with iso and the grinder spins like a champ now :) Go for it!
Wondering too, but I would like to do iso bath, than make hash of it, but I'm also afraid about "Santa Cruz Shredder" coating.

I've soaked SCS parts for days in ISO (in a nice-sized Barbasol jar, an idea I stole from someone here) with no issues.

A few minutes in PBW and disaster!

Make sure you use the correct tools for the task at hand!

I've seen that PBW + SCS pic so many times.. I get a strange deja vu when I see it

I have performed the same Iso bath on my coated SCS units, without issue.
Soak.... brush scrub... rinse... no issue.

Really? A brush and scrub? :uhoh: I was scared to apply too much pressure to it and only used cotton buds and toilet paper.. Paranoid about scratches on it's gorgeous finish. What did you use to scrub it?

The best grinder ever and it has a replaceable screen and rounded sides in the pollen tray and a matching rounded scraper to reap your rewards.

This pic is repeatedly called a SCS (Santa Cruz Shredder) but I don't think it is...
Look at the teeth--pointy like 99% of the grinders and not the unique SCS teeth.

Actually, I believe this is a Space Case (possibly the titanium anodized one?) - you can almost make out the SP CE engraving in the picture

thanks, I was trying to figure out what brand it is.
Knowing it's not a SCS, I don't want to be the sad test pilot of trying PBW on my SCS however!

You people are funny. I toss my SCS units into full backpacks, soak em in iso, scrape them with titanium pokers, and clack the halfs together to loosen up stuck herb. I also use my large SCS as a coaster and paper weight.

Other than an orange peel effect due to hundreds of miniature dents (see: clacking the two halfs together) on the outside edges, these things are as perfect as the day I bought them. Anodizing included.

I really don't see the point in babying a solid chunk of machined aerospace grade aluminum alloy.

The pic is a Space Case, but PBW reacts with anodized surfaces, not brand names. My SCS was just as affected.

I don't baby things either, however dunking anodized surfaces in PBW is a bad idea unless your goal is artistic. My "ruined" SCS is still quite usable, but the appearance is shot.

I cringe a bit on your metal-on-metal attitude (outside of music, not usually a good idea), but the bits are inert and it's your body ;) I don't baby my shredders, but do treat them nicely as tossing them around can still mark and scuff them up quite a bit. Anodization doesnAppearance-wise, scrapes, scratches, nicks, dings and dents

I'm really wanting to get one of the new 3pc series, but waiting for some more "mainstream" store to carry them than following links from youtube videos.

Main concern is they leave the topside the way it is and how easy it is to scoop every last molecule of product from the bottom. I really hate the screen in the 4pc because there's always something left over unless you brush it out, and since we're vaping, no real point to collect the kief separately.

Anyone give a direct comparison between the SCS 3 and 4pc products? If I could order one off Amazon, it'd be at my door by now ;)

Yeah it does say 'SPACE' on it.. I never noticed. No doubt though that PBW would do the same to an SCS.
