Just thought I'd put a quick post in here saying that it works virtualized! Just got my Crafty and it's charging ... but thought I'd power it up and see if the app connected and it did without any problems at all! Flawless!

Envrionment
- Dell XPS 12 w/ built-in Bluetooth 4.0
- Windows 8.1
- VirutalBox
- Android-x86

I'll post a tutorial later tonight if I have a chance w/ a step-by-step walk though of setting this up.

This would be graciously appreciated. I'll thank you in advance. :leaf:

I also use Crafty while charging with no issue. The manual says you can do it. S&B knows their product. I get really medicated off this thing but not as much visible vapor like EVO, although when I did a second bowl while it was warm the vapor production improved a lot.

Great Scott!

I know it says its ok, but don't you think its weird that the thing died literally the first time I did it? 4 hours of runtime logged on the app. Each bowl is 5 MAYBE 10 minutes for me. I really fly through them. Thats a lot of success for a coincidental failure. My fear was it would be like the solo which is also suggested that you can charge while using, and for many it works, but it seems to be a common thread in a lot of failures.

By all means people keep testing if you can afford to email them and get a new one shipped out or whatever the issue may be (just emailed them right away so I'll see how it goes) gets resolved. If you really depend on the device, then I suggest not charging while using if you don't absolutely have to. However those that do will eventually speed along the process of finding out, IF it is in fact related. I understand it could be coincidence, but I highly doubt those odds in this particular case.

I'm really disappointed a $400 vape failed in 4 hours. I'm very happy with the vape and shit happens, but thats $100 an hour to use it so far hah! I'm hoping that this is a freak rare occurrence, but I bet I'm never going to charge it while using it anyway. I don't see the need really and I do believe it to be a common risk with at least the solo, so its possible it has the same problem. Part of the reason I went with an S&B product was for the reliability. Sure glad I didn't sell my firefly....

But the other part is the warranty/customer service. So I'm sure they will take care of me, it just is an inconvenience you'd like to avoid with purchase of what I'd almost consider a "luxury vape".

EDIT:

From reddit:
"WOW that is terrible to hear, please keep me updated on how the situation is handled.

I have tried to call S&B like 5 times this week and they havent picked up the phone once, so I am curious if you will be able to get ahold of them."

Really hoping his experience is different from mine. I emailed their support on their website. Based on reputation I'd be surprised if I didn't have a replacement on my way soon. If the customer service AND reliability don't match the S&B reputation and price tag I'm really going to be kicking myself, even though I absolutely loved the device for the 4 whole hours I've had it.

Being that this is S&B's first foray into the portable market, shouldn't we assume that early adopters could experience some "debugging" issues here and there?

Yes. And as long as they take care of me that is a reasonable thing to expect and have to deal with. I'm giving them time to reply etc, but it seems like someone on reddit is having a hard time getting in touch with them via phone. I tried the official email, so we will see how it goes. I'm not basing my opinions on anything but my own experiences. As long as they handle it quickly and professionally I'll be fine with this falling under the "shit happens" category. If this was my only vape however, I'd be FAR more frustrated.

In the last week or so, I've called and emailed Storz customer support and in both cases, they got right back to me. Been using their products for many years and their service has always been top notch. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed.

Ok .. so 6 bowls in ... and reliably (at varying temperatures starting from 183 to 190) ... pretty much drain the full load (~.15) in 1.5 hits and the vapor that I exhale is massive .... this basically hits exactly the same as my EVO as far as volume so far and I can cache a .15g bowl in 1.5 hits ... wow! this has really been what I've been after from a portable ...!

I'm only <2 hours in so I can't say for sure ... give me a few days ... but so far I can't remember being this impressed since I first enjoyed a Cloud!!!!

I've been on the constant hunt for a big hitting portable leading me to buy tons of vapes ... but this might finally be what I was looking for!!!

Glad you're digging it, J.

No immediate joy with the just-arrived USB BT dongle. Rumors are floating around you have to download the Xcode toolkit and use a tool within it to directly access/choose the dongle. I just got rid of a previous version of the suite to free up space on the SSD... and don't want to download it again.

FWIW, the default Crafty works pretty well even without the app.

enjoy

I just used Crafty again and I'm ripped, again. This time I packed the bowl well, kinda to the point where it actually started to impede the flow slightly, and my Crafty responded. Instead of hitting it instantly I gave it a moment to warm. I was able to get 2 huge clouds and a good third hit. I agree with @JCat this is a keeper.

1) I know the Crafty just came out, but it would be nice to find a custom case for this device. One to store the crafty, the refill tool, grinder, and maybe extra batt, charger, and cable.

2) Is it better to always keep the Crafty plugged in, even when it is charged fully? I know some manufacturers completely manage the power for you via onboard computer so you don't have to think about. I assume its the same for the Crafty so I keep it plugged in whenever not in use.

3) My friends Crafty seems to have much less battery life then my Crafty. He gets about 3-4 bowls while I get 5-6 bowls on a full charge. His is not obviously defective but it is just weird his doesn't last as long. Any idea why and should he consider warranty service?

Look what I found . . . :D:D:D Now all we need is the password . . . to enter screen tap rapidly about 4 times on your Crafty serial# on the Device page.

What's the efficiency like on this device? Could you get 2 sessions out of a bowl if you are not taking massive hits, or would you have to lower the temperature down a little?

I use only a pinch of herbs with the liquid pad and I can still get atleast two sessions. The end of the second one and the third are not smoky hits, but certainly have the effect of some taste and really medicate. I'm using the preset temps as I can't connect to the app.

That's good to know. How about the smell? Any lingering odours after a session? Really considering taking the plunge with the crafty, just seems to tick all of the boxes.

Only had it for a while, but I haven't noticed any odors coming from the unit itself after emptying it. The plastic smell went away quickly and the outside of the device hasn't absorbed any herb scent yet.

Sadly, no. Only smartphones with Bluetooth 4.0 LE will work with the Crafty. I believe @JCat is making a tutorial soon on how to connect to the Crafty with computers.
