A really cool feature would be the ability to turn the Crafty on and off via the app. That way it could be preheated and ready to hit before I even have to touch the unit.

Or is this a feature and I just haven't figured it out?

After a few more bowls, I can say for sure that the Crafty is a HEAVY HITTER! I have to be careful with it, can take me past where I want to go if I'm not careful ;). That said, you can definitely sip on it if you so desire. But if you're looking for something that can deliver some massive, flavorful hits, all with NO learning curve, the Crafty will more then satisfy you.
I would love to be able to turn it on from the app. I went to the basement and was still able to connect to my Crafty all the way on the 3rd level/floor. Great range!

The crafty is the definitely model I would get, so I'm thankful that my phone doesn't have ble or my vas would have already won out. My ipad does have it, so when the ios app gets approved I may be unable to resist any longer. Even if I can, these vaporizers seems like they were done right; good job s&b!

Anyone from Canada order from the S & B site? Just curious about shipping time and duty charges. Thanks, and I hope this was the correct place to post.
Hey neighbor-
The Oakland S&B (website) is the official channel for ordering in N.America, I believe. I don't know if they can still guarantee Next-Day, etc. delivery to Canada tho. I'm thinking probably.

I think you'd need the bluetooth unit in the Crafty to remain in stand-by while its turned "off" to enable that function. Future functionality request?
Part of the reason for the development of low-energy bluetooth 4.0 give was to give appliances that ability.
Kudos to S&B for fixing the math problem in the Android app quickly. I wonder if the iOS app had the same issue...
BTW, have you used the Crafty's ability to create a WiFi hotspot yet?

Very true. I packed up the Crafty and hiked up to the upper terminus of the Portland Aerial Tram this morning and grabbed one hit on the way. And one more at the terminus before climbing aboard and heading down on tram... I was flying.
There's nothing quite like a clean long-flowering pure equatorial sativa vaporized. It's the very definition of high.

I'll post a tutorial from start to finish (including fixing orientation) tonight/tomorrow morning once I receive my Crafty if it works (I have everything working in the VM including the internal BT4 on my laptop, but don't have a Crafty yet to test, supposed to be here today!)
Thanks for doing that JCat.
There appear to be some Terminal command line gymnastics that would allow you to get OSX out of the way of the BT, but its pretty involved. My BT dongle should arrive today and we'll see how that works out.

Couple of pics from the S&B Oakland website...

May we see the Happy Hour menu?
And why is everybody giving the volcano the cold shoulder?

I agree about having to be careful with this vape. Easy to over medicate.

I have no idea how people would use the liquid pad with herb BTW. Finally took a look at that today. Looks great for oil for sure, but it fills 100% of the bowl. Where could you possibly put the herb after?

I'm trying to figure out the very best way to load smaller bowls, because honestly, it hits that hard lol. Great for most of the time, bad for say...work.

I was thinking of trying to find some kind of stainless steel screen that I could use balled up to literally just take up some space to keep airflow in check. I don't see why that wouldn't work just fine.

thats it?

can others confirm this?

Haven't run it start to finish yet I like to top it off, but thats my estimate. But man imagine more like 5 cloud/volcano/da buddha sessions than like 5 portable sessions. I can't explain it so some disagree, but this thing hits hard. I haven't done 2 back to back bowls with it yet, because I feel no need. Meanwhile with my firefly I'd kill 2 bowls at a time every time. And that is my 2nd favorite portable. I haven't hit my cloud for anything other than using my vapexnail since I bought this thing. I love my cloud still, but this is just so easy to hit.

I expected to have a power bank thing to charge this with, but I haven't needed it at all. I'll get one eventually, but bowls really seem to last and last effect wise. I've felt other vapes felt "stronger" than others before, but this is the first one that seems to have a consistently longer duration of effects with me.

I would like to find a way to hook it up to water filtration. Not because there is a cooling need, just because I'd like to have that option.

just trying to compare to my INH05. im at like 9 sessions and i havent charged it yet.

still considering a crafty.

5 seems about right from my limited usage so far too. Various factors could increase or decrease that number.

But like others have said, this is not a typical portable's 5 bowls. One bowl by myself and I'm BLITZED. I have a fairly high tolerance, and wanted something that would compete with my EVO. This thing truly does hit like a desktop and not a portable.

In fact, the other day on my long drive home, I had to put the Crafty down. It quickly got me to where I needed to be and would have put me into unsafe territory had I continued.

I need to measure how much bud fits into a fully packed bowl, but it can be pretty sizeable if you want it to be.

Wish I'd have tried that to compare. I want to try out the liquid pad, but I'm scared LOL. I don't know what temp would be ideal for a little plop of oil on the pad either.

Just thought I'd put a quick post in here saying that it works virtualized! Just got my Crafty and it's charging ... but thought I'd power it up and see if the app connected and it did without any problems at all! Flawless!

Envrionment
- Dell XPS 12 w/ built-in Bluetooth 4.0
- Windows 8.1
- VirutalBox
- Android-x86

I'll post a tutorial later tonight if I have a chance w/ a step-by-step walk though of setting this up.

I don't have this unit. Would a domed screen work in this vape if a person wanted to make the bowl smaller?

I'd assume you could definitely make something work. S&B recommends using the liquid pad, but @darkrom has stated there is virtually no room for bud with it in. I don't have my liquid pad with me, so can't confirm for myself.

But in theory, I guess you could shave down the liquid pad, or use any other sort of spacer to take up the extra space. Time will tell though.

So its irrelevant to me now. Guess who has the first faulty crafty?

"coincidentally" it happened after the first time I charged it while using it.... Have to say I recommend not doing that, and was suspicious of how it may kill it like it does with the solo often.

Great....

I guess I can be the first to test their customer service/warranty.

Ok ... couldn't wait ... ran a bowl @ 187C and the ABV came out very dark brown! ... clouds were phenomenal and it was very smooth!!!! ... wasn't uncomfortable at all on the throat, mouth, or lungs .... so far very impressed ... now that I've adjusted the LED and temps (I'll be starting at 185 next round and if it comes out to dark I might be reducing still ...! .... anyways .... very impressed so far ....!)

What's the unit doing? Is it blinking red/blue? If so, it's just too hot. I ran into this the other day when I had been using it for a bit and had it plugged in.

That's all I get from my Solo on average. This is why I wanted to see if anybody has used a 2.1 amp external battery while vaping to see how much one slows the drain of the Crafty's battery. If it is effective then a small vape could be used in larger group session even if means being tethered to a battery, pass vape and grab battery.

There is a mighty that needs service as well.

Sorry for your loss. Keep us posted on your repair experience.

Red and green I believe. Either way it won't heat anymore and says that it is faulty when I open the app.

Besides laptops I literally NEVER charge and use any technology at the same. Laptops and phones I guess. Never something like a vape. I just had to see if it maintained temp even better and it did, but obviously it is not worth it. I seriously strongly recommend just charging it when it is not in use.

Wow, that really sucks. Wonder what happened. I've used it several times while charging with no ill effects yet (except when the battery got too hot and I had to let it cool down).

Curious what your unit does after it's cooled for a bit.

Either way, hope you get taken care of quickly. No good to lose one so early on its life.

I have also used mine while charging frequently with no issues whatsoever. I figured it would be better for the device to charge while using it since it would not go under 30% which I believe is not good for a lithium ion battery.

Sorry if I misunderstood, but if you mean packing a small amount, then the liquid pad works like a charm as intended, I saw that the Plenty has the same Liquid pad- use with smaller packings. I use a really small amount of herbs and works great with and withouth the pad, with pad I don't have to worry about the orientation of the device.

Edit: I put the herbs on the bottom and the liquid pad on top, you can pack also a fair amount with the pad as it compresses the bowl to tight package.

Charging a hot battery is also bad for it. Hmm, this is throwing a wrench in my plan and making the Mighty seem like a better fit for me.

Now a faulty Mighty and Crafty on this board in a week. I already have one expensive vape I have sent back 3 times in 3 months, but they have fantastic customer service and a fix in the works. So time for me to sit back and watch while medicating my Vas away.

You can definitely have your battery go below 30% when charging while using. The Crafty uses more power to heat then it gets from the charger. It can accept 10W max from the charger, but the heater has a 27W output.

Even with the Crafty plugged in, the battery will slowly drain. Albeit much slower then if it weren't plugged in.

Vaped 3 chambers so far ... wow! ... this is a game changer! I can vape a .1-.2 bowl (haven't measured exactly what it fits) in 1-2 hits ... this thing hits like a MiniVAP but has an amazing cooling chamber to boot! (The only other way I've been able to get that sized hit dry is with a dry hydratube as it provides sufficient cooling .... I really can't believe how good this vape is after the first 3 bowls!)
