Tek DIY CO2 hash?

Hey, I just quickly searched for this but did not find anything. I have searched the web for this before, fairly recently, for at least 30 minutes without any finding any tek. I have seen the expensive machines for sale that are very complicated with hundreds of parts. Does it really need to be so complicated? Anyone who has more info on this please chime in.

CO2 extraction in reality is a much more intricate process.

Butane can get by as a liquid at room temperatures for long enough to actually extract, meanwhile CO2 needs high pressure and or low temp to stay a stable liquid.

There is actually more to it but suffice it to say, yes it really does need to be that complicated.

You state "CO2 hash", so I'll go out on a limb and say.... I consider that term to relate to dry ice extraction, then pressing into a solid 'hash' puck with either a proper hydraulic press or hand press.

Is that what your talking about ? Or is it CO2 oils your inquiring about ?

Seems so.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercritical_fluid_extraction

Even then, many companies have the proper equipment and still can't produce a quality, full flavored and enjoyable C02 extract IME. There seems to be a big issue with removing all of the excess moisture from the product, as many C02 oil's seem very runny and sizzle on a hot nail.

The key is extracting while maintaining pressure and ability to recycle CO2. The cheaper open systems that use heat or pumps for pressure work... but the amount of CO2 needed without recycling makes the process too expensive. Even for a home hobbyist, these open systems are not worth it.

You can have a custom system built that recycles and uses a pump for less than an Apek/Eden, but a BHOgart or similar butane system would be the better buy for commercial purposes.

I've wondered why the CO2 stuff I've gotten (Natural Gold I think it was called) has sizzled and splattered all over my ceramic e-nail! Honestly, the oil really left a lot to desire when it comes to potency and flavor as well. I'd be curious to see what CO2 done right is like though. Until then, I think butane is where it's at, especially for DIY home extractions.

The only CO2 stuff I've had that doesn't splatter everwhere and actually tastes better than most if not all BHO I've tried is Golden Barn's refined CO2 syringes that are way way way overpriced. They make raw wax that will splatter so much one dab took my completely clean dome to completely yellow.

C02 seems dangerous to do at home , even more dangerous than bho.
Most THC extraction teks are actually teks from the aroma oil industry.. :) Most commonly they use either super crit CO2 , Xn , or absolute (etoh and winterization) .
A friend of mine which lives in Spain says that the best oil comes from QWET on DRY ICE kief + winterization.. :) Will try it this summer i hope .
