First cannacoconut oil

@LongIslandmom sorry I'm just now seeing the board.

I hope your oil turns out well for you , it sounds like it may be much stronger than what I made if you used 4 oz abv. You can always dilute it if you find it too strong.

I'm really interested in how this works for you.

I was worried about what temps I'd be able to maintain in a crockpot so I elected for my trusty Anova Sous Vide cooker. It's very nice and you can use all sorts of different vessels to cook in. When I made my oil I cooked it inside a mason jar and into a bucket that was serving as my sous vide vessel. I had to use a heavy standing cheese grater to weigh the jar down so it wouldn't float, and then cooked the oil at 200 degrees for 24 hours.

I also put a wire ball (from a bottle blender) inside the jar so I could shake it around and agitate it every so often.

I never did strain my oil, I figured whatever I make with it wouldn't be too bothered by the ground up abv powder. Next time I might strain, but I didn't find it necessary.

I am really eager to hear what you end up making. Please share your experience and any recipes you formulate along the way.

Given your recent throat surgery, I would do a milkshake for a maiden voyage if I were you. Most people report onset of effects within an hour from what I've seen.

Did you measure your abv before grinding it? I weighed my abv out but did not bother with checking it's measurement by volume.

Also, if you do not have any I would recommend picking up some lecithin, which seems to make the oil stronger according to quite a few experiences I've read. You can buy soy or sunflower lecithin fairly cheap and it will last you a good long while.

Ok so I made it and I strained it. It looks like real shit brown. I'm not kidding that's the color. I saved as much of the thc as I could. I also put that in a mason jar. The oil is barely 4 oz. it's just sitting in a hiding place in the fridge. I haven't tried it yet. I'm too afraid. I'm not sure of what but i am.

I start speech therapy tomorrow and I don't want anything to mess it up. Where do you get the lecithin and how much do you put in

Your set up sounds way better than mine. I want to know what you feel as well and what the effect is. If I get up the courage I may try to make my own treat for Halloween. I would love to see crazy NYC on that.

Please let me know how yours turned out. I didn't think it was very much. I'm confused. I had about 1/2 cup when I started and about that much when I ended.

It's really brown. Should I go to a health food store?

I probably would not try homemade edibles for the first time while doing a trip into NYC as it might turn into a bad trip. Edibles can kick you in the arse, so to speak, and be an almost psychedelic and overwhelming experience.
Maybe a nearby park/outdoor/mellow environment wold be a better experiment. Edibles are tough to gauge the proper dosage and how they will effect you. Just my opinion........
CO now warns users:
1. start small
2. wait 2 hours to gauge effect, it takes 2 hours to take effect
3. don't mix with alcohol and other drugs
Honestly I don't think this will do anything at all. It looks really bad. I'm to afraid to even put it on some peanut butter. Maybe next weekend I will gain some courage. I'm at home by myself today but I'm not doing it. Maybe I'm becoming afraid of trying pot again

You could add a teaspoon to some warm milk and add chai tea or some nestles quick and have a warm drink. The chocolate should hide the taste somewhat I'm not sure if the chai tea would. Good luck mom. No pressure only use it if you want. You may decide not to try it out. It's good to be cautious with edibles.

@LongIslandmom ,

i posted my recipe on the cooking thread and it was as easy as making a soup in the crockpot and potent as all mighty. Give it a look...there is alot of complicated technical stuff going on but my recipe that i got from wake and bake is by far the least labor intensive and most rewarding~

I make my canna oil nearly the same way, and it is perfectly edible.

The coconut oil is a wonderful preservative, so don't get worried about it going bad.

I have taken a teaspoon and just dug a 'poonful out of the jar and just ate it, plain. It's a lot better mixed with almond (peanut?) butter & honey, and eaten with rice crackers.

It is not gonna hurt you. worse it might do, is relax you a bit too much - try a bit in the evening, so you can just go to sleep. I recommend a teaspoon. I've taken that much frequently.

@Enchantre - we are definitely on same page :) If i continue with same recipe and keep my current low tolerance, a teaspoon equates to a 7 hour full body beautiful high that still allows me to function. Most economical and preferred method of consumption for me. And for a different spin, there is my vapeman :)

I like Dawntreader's method. I just wanted to put my sous vide cooker to use. I was just working off bits and pieces I read to try and maximize extraction. Whether or not it actually did anything, who knows?

I did write up on my experiences with the oil. It really snuck up on me. The serving size was 1/8 cup. I think I should have tried a teaspoon initially, but I tried to base it off what I had read other people using. It was far too much for my girlfriend though. She did not enjoy it like I did. So start with a small dose like a teaspoon. If mine was potent, your batch may launch you to jupiter without caution. A teaspoon melted onto a buttered english muffin with an egg and cheese would be good. Also, eggs contain lecithin!

You can pick up Lecithin at any health food store. According to alot of what I read it just helps aid with absorption. I think I used a tablespoon with my batch, the recipe should note.

It is indeed! And to me, the scent of the butter melting into the muffin is divine!

I could dig right in. Looks incredible!

I doubt my oil would be near as tasty since I didn't filter out the powder, but I could get down with that. Maybe a little avocado to go alongside.

Ok my gang so here is the latest. I added a tablespoon of the letichin to my batch in the fridge. It looks a little more green. I hope it keeps

I went to the speech therapist today for an evaluation. I admitted to her my 1 bad vice and that when I relearn to speak I want to relearn to vape as well. She was amazingly cool about it. But the harm that acid reflux and stress can do is very bad for my cords. All of the stables of my diet are falling by the way side - no herbal tea, no peppers, garlic or onion no cranberry juice. Sooo.....

On Friday when I am safely tucked into this house no reason to drive I'm gonna take 1 teaspoon of this stuff pour it on some peanut butter and whole wheat bread and see what happens

That's almost 7 weeks since anything. Of course I can't do my regular thing and eat chocolate or my Starbucks frappe (I guess I could get it with soy) or my nightly diet coke. But we will see how it goes.

I'm exercising a lot to bring down stress and just because that's what I do. I could also save the oil and just eat the thc that I saved as well that is also sitting in a mason jar right next to the oil

Anyone want it chime in. I think if it works I should start a new thread somewhere

Long Islands Mom finally takes off. Or breaks her break. If I did would you follow me? You know like the bruce song

If I should fall behind wait for me
And if you should fall behind I will stay and wait for you

There's nothing left but the 2nd season of House of Cards. Ok I love it!!!

Still speechless in Long Island

Is that just until healing take place? Hopefully not permanent.
Could you now have black tea or green tea? I have some wonderful Kenyan black tea
that seems to sooth my throat.
Only 3 more days...and then Friday :)

It's the stupid acid reflux. It's really damaging to the vocal cord. I'm gonna email the therapist to review the tea thing. I mean if it non decaf and herbal what could be so wrong

When I saw the ENT dr last week he said to me "just bake it". So I guess it's drs orders

You cracked me up. Jewish people all over the world wait for Friday to greet the Shabbos bride. So there you go....

If is Friday, it's take a break? Little nervous. Remember back in the day when you were nervous about getting baked? That you were gonna freak out; you'd get caught; busted? I kinda feel like that now

I am going to start my first coconut oil tomorrow !
I got my crock pot and oil and just over an oz of ABV with a bit of shake mixed in.

My question is what is the difference in preparation form and edible oil to a topical ?
As far as I can tell it is cooking time (more time for topical)and what extras you add( essential oil etc) ?

I could be reading this wrong ?

I was planing on doing two 12 hr on and of cycles and see what I get .
I would like a strong topical but I am guessing it will not work for my pain and it is more than muscular, so if it does not work for me I would like to make edibles and see it that does anything for me .

Does this sound correct ?
And advice is appreciated

Why do you suck at buying vaporizers?

I don't know about the topical but I have already made 2 small batches - this will be a big batch.

Everyone uses coconut oil, mine did work to some extent. Many would tell you that you de carb the shake but I made a little batch of fresh and didn't. Get some of that binding stuff it start w an L someone help me here.

12 hours should do it. The less you expect the happier you will be. If tolerance is low that's even better.

And as far as the topical I was revering to @Enchantre method here
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/pain-relief-abv-massage-oil.13588/

I may try the lecithin but I might wait until I make the next batch just to see the difference?

I have not had great luck with edibles in the past ,very unpredictable results not unlike a lot of people .
So I don't expect much
Just going to experiment!!

I have had some luck but it's not the same. It just doesn't give me the same buzz. But with my throat in recovery, I just can't risk it yet. Why not try 1/2 oz at first? What edibles have you made? I need a better delivery system; I'm trying really hard to knock off these last 10 lbs (lost over 40 gained back 15 when I quit the cigs and want to get back down just another 10. So I don't really want to eat brownies or cookies whether they are juiced up or not

Gonna check out the thread. And it helps that I haven't done anything since sat nite. Moderation is key to all thing in life.

I have tried countless dispensary edibles all types and have found them to be very inconsistent.
They either don't work for me at all or they work once and not the next time or sometimes they are great and others I get way too messed up .
I don't think this is much different form a lot or peoples experiences .
So I will try making my own if the topical does not work .
Brownies cookies or something else haven't figured that out yet . Gotta make it first !

Test your cannaoil strength by dipping your finger in and rubbing on a hurting spot. If it seems a bit weak, cook longer. Start testing after the first 12 hours.

My hubby blew a disk in his back. The oil helps his damaged nerve type pain, the cramps, and the sore muscles. I rub it on my arthritic knee. If I don't add EO, I also will use it for edibles, BUT, ABV oil is just made to be inconsistent. Edibles, in my opinion, are best made with either fresh, or with concentrate. That way, you can get exact dosage, which helps with those consistent results you are looking for.

Peace
