Cory Glass Designs re/incyclers - high function and affordable?

Just checking in with today's gymnastics report. This morning my waterfull and loaded VapeCycler was quietly sitting on my coffee table minding it's own business when some idiot (I'm not giving myself up) caught it on a shirt sleeve and helped it perform a full forward flip to a dismount on to the carpeted floor. 18/14 reducer and loaded Lotus executed their own solid (and separate) performance and stuck their landing. Glass got a 6.5 (not a pretty landing). Lotus a solid 9.0. No damage but a wet spot and a little wasted herb. Not a good morning event, however. I wasn't even altered.

@Snappo has been kind enough to point out that I behaved less than respectfully towards some FC members in regards to the unfolding of Cory's true colours in this thread.
I had a chat to him and he suggested that I just share the convo we had, but I would also like to address some members individually down the page a bit.

snappo: I feel that you were most insensitive to @ syrupy ' s plight as expressed at length on the Cory Glass thread. So long as you were at peace with Cory's lax business practices, so should it be for syrupy and others. And there you have it. Peace!
me:
Thanks, I was a prick wasn't I..
Not as if it's an excuse but at that time I was becoming immersed in FC to an unhealthy level during me and my ex-partner's recent breakup. I had nowhere else to turn and neglected councelling options, I spent a lot of time ordering things and being depressed and volatile on the internet. I lost my partner and daughter as my life lost stability, so if that's any form of Karma then I don't know what is..
I was insensitive and I appologyse to you that you had to be exposed to such indecency, and thanks for reminding me that I never formally messaged syrupy and let him know that my heart was not in the right place and that I wasn't proud of it.
You're a good man, thanks Snappo.
snappo: I'm glad that this exchange has had a positive effect for you. It was my ultimate intention. Perhaps you will be so kind as to comment on the thread something to that effect.
Very kind of you to let me know that for my own betterment, and so that I can react better to such things in the future.

I've also said this to @syrupy , hopefully he understands. Also syrupy if you plan on replying; feel free to respond in this thread or via pm, whatever you are comfortable with.

"Hey syrupy, sorry I was such a piece of shit to you in regards to the CGD debacle. I could try to explain, but there is no excuse. No circumstance can take blame for my insensitivity, I take responsibility for the fact that I was a prick towards you and I hope you understand that my heart was not in the right place and that I was very off-balance and childish at the time of the unfolding of Cory's true colors.
I should have sent this a while ago, but neglected to do so; so I also appologyse for not giving you the respect you deserved much earlier.
I like your posts here on the forum and I am sorry to try and put you down over what was essentially me defending my ego; scared to feel like a failure after blindly putting my trust in someone who I shouldn't have trusted for a second."

@blankrider I even stepped on your toes, sorry to be a douche bag towards you when you pointed out my blind ignorance and single-minded attitude towards the fucked up waiting process that Cory put loyal customers through..

@MuushuPork
I should have had your back and been a brother to you when you shared your opinion about Cory's poor communication skills and your frustration towards it all. I understood what you meant but refused to knowledge it, and this was very un-integral of me. It wont happen again, my friend

To all others whom shared their feelings about Cory's practices, dissected and speculated his motives, and all who shared opinions about glass blowers & business owners in general who were most likely shut down or rebutted by my ignorance, I also extend an apology to you all. I was intentionally being a smartass and being suggestively argumentative because that is what I do sometimes by mistake. Those times when I act this way; I am not in touch with my higher self. I aim to minimize these occurrences because I do respect and love you all.

Thanks for all contributing to an open and friendly forum where an appology like this does not feel out of place. I know positivity is welcomed here so thank you all for allowing me to settle something that I was not proud of. I should not have defended Cory to such an extent.

BEWARE Cory Williamson AKA Cory Glass Designs (http://instagram.com/corywilliamson). His communication is among the very worst I've seen.I had to file two disputes with Paypal just to get him to respond to questions and issues. He wanted to send the piece after I withdrew the dispute. We came upon a compromise.

What I received later (in a padded envelope) was not what was ordered. The order was for a custom recycler, can fumed yellow, with implosion marbles on can and dome. The dome was completely missing, and I could see no fuming on the can. First I was told that the fuming was there, it was just not really visible. Later Cory responded to the dispute with the statement that he doesn't even do fuming (then why take the order and payment for it?). Then his story was back to the invisible fuming. I don't really know how to prove if fuming exists or not, but I assume when I ordered a yellow fumed can that the color would actually be... well...visible. Am I wrong here? It feels less like a misunderstanding and more of an honesty issue. But we all makes mistakes.

A month later Cory sent the dome, as well as a free dabber. I wish I could say things were cool. But.... the marble on the dome was a different color than on the main piece, I'm guessing because it was made weeks after the recycler was sent and he forgot the color he originally used. It's acceptable though. What is not acceptable is the thinness of the glass on the dome. I mean thin! It's narrow and sits veryclose to the nail. The dabber didn't look up to his other work, and the fun part is the dabber is so wide it won't work with the dome. I'll post a more detailed review on the dedicated thread for it, and try to get more into function with pics. I will say that in terms of function, the piece .was up to par and he nailed that part. The work deserves credit there for sure

It was a good learning lesson, about getting caught up in the hype. He does good function, but there are a lot of fish in the sea, and why mess with Cory when there's positive experiences with FCers coming from Doughboy (http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/doughboy-glass.15057/) and Distilled (http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/d...y-recyceler-at-a-very-reasonable-price.15007/), along with accessories by our own Joda (http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/joda-glassworks.13915/).

He really came off as nice at first, but once payment was made, it was a different story. It wasn't a fun experience, and has cooled me towards custom pieces. I'd rather go back to trolling blowers' IG pages, and find good work that's already made, so I at least know what I'm getting. Let the blower take the risk, I'm tired of it.

That said, I may have Doughboy make a custom. I have a good feeling because the blower has support on the business end and connections to FC, to keep the business machine going.

Special thanks to @Deja Vu for his post above. I did feel unsupported by some, so I appreciate where you're coming from. :)

There's a question posed in the thread title, "affordable and high function"? I'll give credit for the function, but affordable? I paid a good price for a sub-standard piece. And judging by his more recent work, I can guarantee you it's no longer affordable to most FCers. I see a lot of colorful fuming...

Cory, you blew this one. I'm not a huge spender, but between myself and acquaintances (not counting FC), there's a fair amount of money you won't be seeing now that people know about color choices that are ignored, poor communication, and custom pieces sent in padded envelopes with no insurance. I wish you well, and hope your new high-end stuff works out for you. But it's not for me, and I don't think it's for most FCers, nor my acquaintances, or folks at dispensaries who ask me for recommendations.

Good comment. I think this is pretty much summed up now.
I don't think anyone will be posting here saying that they've put in an order with Cory for a custom, elaborate and high-priced rig.. hah

Peace to you all.

As much as folks hate Cory's business behavior (completely appropriately) there is no denying his skill/talent. I am still hopeful that Cory eventually understands that he needs to develop those necessary business abilities or his success will be dramatically inhibited. I have my doubts that Cory is just in it for the "art" and the desire for commercial success should drive the necessary changes.
